Wow, how could anyone dislike this highlight?! Jesus, he absolutely demolished Masato...probably the ONLY guy who made Masato look like a rank amateur. What a man!!
I'm not saying that MMA would be something he should so or have to do, but as fight fan, I would love to see him kick ass in MMA. Also, K-1 Heroes looks like it will have a good future, and I wouldn't doubt that sometime later in the future K-1 MMA fans would wanna demand to see someone as good as Buakaw to fight in Heroes, and K-1 offering a lot of money for him to do so. Would be great to see that happen, and he is still young and could have a huger career ahead of him in K-1 and MMA.
this is the man that should face zambidis, Mai-Thai ferocious art !!! Always hiting crucial points. but zambidis has alot of heart dont forget and on that heart lies Greece.
and Buakaw is only 24 right now...he may be coming close to being past his prime as a Thai boxer in Thailand where they would fight almost every other week all year long, but on the pro MMA stage, he would only be fighting a couple of times a year at most and hopefully getting paid big bucks. So I think if that were to happen, he'd have a lot of fighting years left in him.
I agree Renegade. And to add itzjaggz, assuming you could step in close enough to jam the kick when it's already coming, what you end up eating is a very short half shin kick- half knee. Still not good.
actually, it's usually considered easier/faster to learn grappling then striking. One reason is because you can start sparring sooner without worring about getting injured as much. But my comment was more towards supplementing his standup with some takedown defense, which wouldn't take too long to learn.
for a fighter, it's either the personal challenge to fight and/or the money...Cro Cop left K-1 for those two reasons, he was offered more money to fight for Pride at the risk of doing badly, but for him it was a personal challenge and it was something new.
I'm talking about that hispanic or italian looking dude who was exchanging kicks with JCVD in the movie...JCVD's style in the movie was Ninjitsu (as described in wikipedia...lol)
haha wow. This guy doesn't look like a brawler. His techniques are the most refined i have ever seen in a kick boxing ring. He is so slick. I wonder if there is throwing in muay thai rules like there is in sanshou. I've seen many matches where thai kickboxers take on sanshou fighters allowing the elbow, but also allowing throws.
true, if he didn't learn any grappling/ground fighting and takedown/submission defense...he'd probably get owned...but with maybe a few months training in that, he would be a force to be reckoned with in MMA...just like any striker that goes into the MMA. Mirko Crocop, Wanderlei Silva, Chuck Liddell, etc.
the guard is not a optimal place to be in a fight, but it is a position you most likely will encounter in a real fight, and you need to be able to know how to fight and defend yourself in that posititon in order to survive an actual encounter. Things like pulling straight to guard like you see in MMA, BJJ, or Sub-Wrestling competitions is pretty unrealistic, you wouldn't wanna do that in a crowded bar or on the street, but knowing how to fight from that position is a practical thing to know.
Maybe u should write up a letter to Andy Souwer, Masato, Sato, Krauss, Zambidis, Jomhod, Laursen, Sari and all the rest of those fighters and explain the "Techniques to counter a round kick". I'm sure they would be delighted to get the memo.
I hope Buakaw never goes into mixed martial arts. Not because I don't think he could be successful, but he would have to adapt to an even more cautious style to avoid the takedowns. You wouldn't see as many kicks or kicking combos. Thats why we watch him, right?
Buakaw would have some chances in mma or ufc but he should as a first improve his knee defence against takedowns going on lower part of body. Otherwise he has great eyes and also probably best frontkicks under 70kg as you can see in fight against masato. He also has some nice takedowns from muay thai fights like that one against pique, and good balance in klinch, so probably after one hard year of training for mma he could be seriously good but why should be when he is best in K1
i saw 16vids about Buakaw, and some his matches, i didnt see him lose... very good opponents was Zambidis(he is so cool) and Fuji Chalmsak ... but i think Buakaw is the best
w00t truely Buakaw is a beast hahaha he tends to slack off alot during fights o.0 so yeah i agree he doesn't belong on the ground o.0 but then again his kicks are really powerful he can probably kick the liveing crap out of the dry humper thats holding him down^^
How could the judges stole him the title in front of all Million audiences in the world?! Even the German commentator sounded slightly surprises. This man is an animal, a killing-machine , A TITAN!!! Just watched his record: K-1 Fights: 18; Win:16 ; Lose:2 (in 3 years) MUAY THAI Fights :157 ; Win:140 ; Lose:7 ; Draw:10 ...and all fights were as a PROFESSIONAL. As an amateur he got over 400 fights! To make it short, your chance to win against this man is by 5,1 percent!!!! A TRUE TITAN!!!!
you need to worry a lot more than just getting punched in the groin while in the guard. The whole point of the guard is being able to survive while being on your back, avoiding strikes and looking for an advantage. Could be getting back up onto your feet in a neutral position, or sweeping and gaining a better top position to ground n pound or submit, or just getting a submission right from the guard.
also, I'm not saying Muay Thai is not an effective art, because it is...but to say the sport of Muay Thai is closer to "real" combat then MMA is untrue, when in MMA you can do everything you can do in Muay Thai, plus throws, ground n pound (ie, striking an opponent while he's down), chokes, submissions/joint locks, etc.
Iam training muay thai my self. Buakaw is my rolemodel. I would like to go 2 thailand, and train in por pramuk gym. 6000 bath for one week training, at por pramuk gym..!! Iam looking forward 2 meet buakaw. Lol
part-2** ..group fights, which is very very common (no one does one-on-one street fights as much in my area), relies on everyone being mobile, standing, and striking as to hit quickly and not be hit.
striking power is not his problem...it's him being too passive. I'd really like him to turn up the heat and fight more aggressively, would be a lot more entertaining. But it's true though, his KO/TKO percentage is only like 24% in K-1.
Why don't you write Por Pramuk gym a letter in which you detail your revolutionary ideas about muay thai. I'm sure they will be grateful for your input.
part 1** - openmindedproduction, i agree with you to some degree. fights are different with different places and cultures. for example, in my area, as much as some mma moves can be used in a barfight, I wouldn't try to do a submission on another person because there's a high possibility that another person could stomp my face.
Uhm for the nerds arguing about Tony Jaa taking Buakaw out and stuff... Tony Jaa = Not that good in the ring but a great Muay Thai BORAN!!! (the ancient lethal Thai boxing) fighter. Buakaw is a modern Muay Thai legend who actually fights so... I'd expect Buakaw to kick Tonys ass if fighting is under competition rules. Oh and nice highlight :)
it would be stupid if he was offered less money to fight then he is getting now...but I don't see why it would be pointless if Pride or UFC would be able to pay him a lot of money...he would just need a little while to get used to takedowns and submission defence and he could do well in MMA. I don't understand why you would think its backwards to learn more to fight MMA.
No lol, actually Tony Jaa is the real deal. He has mastered taekwondo, judo and muay thay. Not saying he could beat buakaw, but he really is a fighter.
ACtually, Nobody knows the real origin of Muay Thai, but Cambodians have been trying to claim the style for the longest, so if prakster and chhaylemm want to believe that Muay Thai is from their country than let 'em. I practice Muay Thai and have been studying the history for a few years now and everyone has their own theory (from cambodia or derived from shaolin kung fu or grew outta a banana tree). It doesn't matter.
Listen man, Buakaw is a Thai fighter and has been fighting Thai since 8, he is now 23 which means he has 15 years experience that's why he is so good, but putting him into MMA would mean that he would have to start his training in BJJ and how would he put up on the ground with people who have had much more experience. That would mean that as long as he knocks out his opponent he'll be aaiight but as soon as the fight goes to the ground he's done...and No one wants to see that.
Kaoklai is now around 80KG and has 180cm Buakaw has around 68-70KG - 175cm No one says these two cant fight but seruously Kaoklai would be owned in first round so why?
Oh! Wait!...I have a better idea, why don't we go to Thailand, offer a challenge to Buakaw himself and u can demonstrate how it's done..I'll be more than happy to hold the camera. Maybe we can even post it on youtube "How itzjaggz countered Buakaw's round kick". Awesome, Lemme kno when u ready to leave.
No "sike" or "j/k" in ur last comment, sounds to me and probably most of us that u were serious. If my memory serves me right Dekkers competed at 67kg (he's now 72kg), Buakaw, around 71.5kg....still Dekkers was never as fast as Buakaw. Their weight difference isn't large enough to be relevant. Cro Cop and Wanderlei are heavyweights, that's like sayin Tyson hits harder than Mayweather jr...Duh!! That goes without saying. Lets just say we never had this convo and go on with our lives...lol.
Tony is a great "actor and stuntman" but he wouldn't even make it to Buawkaw in K-1. K-1 is for the best of the best strikers. No man has successfuly gone into that sport from another sport and done anything as impressive as to dethrone any these machines that fight in the final rounds of the tournaments.
You don't know anything bout Muay thai, you don't care about it (but somehow you ended up on here, watching Buakaw's HL). U were just bored trying to see who was the person who's time u wanted to waste (along with yours!)commenting on your comment. You know about politics and history (and u should please, stick to politics and history). Muay Thai is what I love, so if u need help that, give me a call!lol
I wish this could be redone in HD!!! It is my favorite buakaw highlight
Wow, how could anyone dislike this highlight?! Jesus, he absolutely demolished Masato...probably the ONLY guy who made Masato look like a rank amateur.
What a man!!
Buakaw is a great K1 fighter. He's very explosive in his kicks!
Nice highlight!
I've seen this HL reel like 100 times and it's still awesome
One of the best muay thai highlights videos
best buakaw hl i've ever seen!!
excellent work.
I'm not saying that MMA would be something he should so or have to do, but as fight fan, I would love to see him kick ass in MMA. wouoooooooo!! the killer! rien a dire dotre.j'ladore! la référence!
this is the man that should face zambidis, Mai-Thai ferocious art !!! Always hiting crucial points. but zambidis has alot of heart dont forget and on that heart lies Greece.
Everyone talks about his kicks, but his knees are just as killer.
This is the greatest fighter alive, he´s a livin legend, he will punish any one who dares enter the ring with him.
and Buakaw is only 24 right now...he may be coming close to being past his prime as a Thai boxer in Thailand where they would fight almost every other week all year long, but on the pro MMA stage, he would only be fighting a couple of times a year at most and hopefully getting paid big bucks. He is sooo cool xD Nice fighter!

You guys better watch out, Buakaw can dance!
sou muito fan desse cara espero um dia ficar que nem ele!!

No one can get close to The diamond Ramon Dekkers !
buakaw is dangerous, one brilliant fighter.I want to be able to kick like him.
Can someone please tell me how this song is called ? I have searched a lot and i cannot still find it.... please
he is the best in nuai thai...
thailand can be proud of him
Maybe u should write up a letter to Andy Souwer, Masato, Sato, Krauss, Zambidis, Jomhod, Laursen, Sari and all the rest of those fighters and explain the "Techniques to counter a round kick". I'm sure they would be delighted to get the memo.

buakaw is really amazing my idol forewer!!!
i saw 16vids about Buakaw, and some his matches, i didnt see him lose... very good opponents was Zambidis(he is so cool) and Fuji Chalmsak ... but i think Buakaw is the best
sure after he kicked back to mars Bob Sapp, he fought Remi. After that he solved some peace problems and returned to his own universe.
w00t truely Buakaw is a beast hahaha he tends to slack off alot during fights o.0 so yeah i agree he doesn't belong on the ground o.0 but then again his kicks are really powerful he can probably kick the liveing crap out of the dry humper thats holding him down^^

This man is an animal, a killing-machine , A TITAN!!! Just watched his record:
K-1 Fights: 18; Win:16 ; Lose:2 (in 3 years)
MUAY THAI Fights :157 ; Win:140 ; Lose:7 ; Draw:10
...and all fights were as a PROFESSIONAL. As an amateur he got over 400 fights! To make it short, your chance to win against this man is by 5,1 percent!!!!
A TRUE TITAN!!!!
Amazing with both legs!!
Awsome
you need to worry a lot more than just getting punched in the groin while in the guard. The whole point of the guard is being able to survive while being on your back, avoiding strikes and looking for an advantage. Could be getting back up onto your feet in a neutral position, or sweeping and gaining a better top position to ground n pound or submit, or just getting a submission right from the guard.
These fights are aleast 2 years old. He is even better now since his punching is great now.
also, I'm not saying Muay Thai is not an effective art, because it is...but to say the sport of Muay Thai is closer to "real" combat then MMA is untrue, when in MMA you can do everything you can do in Muay Thai, plus throws, ground n pound (ie, striking an opponent while he's down), chokes, submissions/joint locks, etc.
Right on man! I would trade Quinton for Bob Sap ( he can't fight, but would u want to try him?? Not me)
Iam training muay thai my self. Buakaw is my rolemodel. I would like to go 2 thailand, and train in por pramuk gym. 6000 bath for one week training, at por pramuk gym..!! Iam looking forward 2 meet buakaw. Lol

Me? NO WAY !!!
That's nice.
r u kiddin his hands are on part. its just the sport and preference is on his legs as an individual.
Bwahahahah...nice one!
anyone know what song this is?
True that, but I would rather see Masato hands and Buakaws legs. What a combo
whats the name of this song ?
Type in Wikipedia Tony Jaa, and read something about him. He is very good fighter as well. He arent just acrobatic . He were train all life.
hahaha...I thought it was from "Bloodsport"...since it came out first.
nice.....no comment
best muay thai fighter along with ramon dekkers
buakaw is the best X.x
i would love to see Dekkers vs Buakaw, shame it will never happen...
incredible ...
seslover
muaythai was called muay khmer cambodians made it up
but the thais took it and made it a bit more advanced so
thats y its called muaythai
striking power is not his problem...it's him being too passive. I'd really like him to turn up the heat and fight more aggressively, would be a lot more entertaining. But it's true though, his KO/TKO percentage is only like 24% in K-1.

i love this guy but i cant love him more then "iron" Mike Zambidis
I couldnt agree more
damn he owns

read the damn video, dont just look at the damn pictures.
2pac: Holla At Me.
Album: All Eyez On Me.

WHAT S THAT SONG!?
ASSUME IT S BY TUPAC
No lol, actually Tony Jaa is the real deal. He has mastered taekwondo, judo and muay thay. Not saying he could beat buakaw, but he really is a fighter.
He could be chopping down trees with those legs :)
//mmacritics
Buakaw is the best Zambidis, Drago, Kalakoda, Sawer and Kraus are on the same lvl
ACtually, Nobody knows the real origin of Muay Thai, but Cambodians have been trying to claim the style for the longest, so if prakster and chhaylemm want to believe that Muay Thai is from their country than let 'em. In the Ring easily. On the street probably he would beat him too, but idk if that easily like in the ring.
song name?
has buakaw fighted bonjasky???
thanks
tell my this music name thx.......
That's too bad!! I do respect that...but you have to admit that Buakaw is better than Mike Zambidis
" great fighter, but he needs more hitting power because his ko ratio is low."
LOL, spoke to soon eh?
Oh! Wait!...I have a better idea, why don't we go to Thailand, offer a challenge to Buakaw himself and u can demonstrate how it's done..I'll be more than happy to hold the camera. BUAKAW POR.PRAMUK = 100% skill
oh yes i forgot
Burmese people said the same thing that it's MuayBurma not MuayThai :P
Think about it
i think it's the same if u know the history...
have scene 2:34? all video dance
hitting endless hours against not_so_hard stuff, like banana trees. Some karate guy do something similar
greetings
tupac ;)
Actually if he's talkin about Burmese fighting technique then he's reffering to Lethwei.
