    Wow, how could anyone dislike this highlight?! Jesus, he absolutely demolished Masato...probably the ONLY guy who made Masato look like a rank amateur.

    I'm not saying that MMA would be something he should so or have to do, but as fight fan, I would love to see him kick ass in MMA. Also, K-1 Heroes looks like it will have a good future, and I wouldn't doubt that sometime later in the future K-1 MMA fans would wanna demand to see someone as good as Buakaw to fight in Heroes, and K-1 offering a lot of money for him to do so. Would be great to see that happen, and he is still young and could have a huger career ahead of him in K-1 and MMA.

    and Buakaw is only 24 right now...he may be coming close to being past his prime as a Thai boxer in Thailand where they would fight almost every other week all year long, but on the pro MMA stage, he would only be fighting a couple of times a year at most and hopefully getting paid big bucks. So I think if that were to happen, he'd have a lot of fighting years left in him.

  • @sogetsu72
    @sogetsu72 18 лет назад

    I agree Renegade. And to add itzjaggz, assuming you could step in close enough to jam the kick when it's already coming, what you end up eating is a very short half shin kick- half knee. Still not good.

  • @openmindedproduction
    @openmindedproduction 18 лет назад

    actually, it's usually considered easier/faster to learn grappling then striking. One reason is because you can start sparring sooner without worring about getting injured as much. But my comment was more towards supplementing his standup with some takedown defense, which wouldn't take too long to learn.

    for a fighter, it's either the personal challenge to fight and/or the money...Cro Cop left K-1 for those two reasons, he was offered more money to fight for Pride at the risk of doing badly, but for him it was a personal challenge and it was something new.

  • @ace52387
    @ace52387 18 лет назад

    haha wow. This guy doesn't look like a brawler. His techniques are the most refined i have ever seen in a kick boxing ring. He is so slick. I wonder if there is throwing in muay thai rules like there is in sanshou. I've seen many matches where thai kickboxers take on sanshou fighters allowing the elbow, but also allowing throws.

  • @openmindedproduction
    @openmindedproduction 18 лет назад

    true, if he didn't learn any grappling/ground fighting and takedown/submission defense...he'd probably get owned...but with maybe a few months training in that, he would be a force to be reckoned with in MMA...just like any striker that goes into the MMA. Mirko Crocop, Wanderlei Silva, Chuck Liddell, etc.

  • @openmindedproduction
    @openmindedproduction 18 лет назад

    the guard is not a optimal place to be in a fight, but it is a position you most likely will encounter in a real fight, and you need to be able to know how to fight and defend yourself in that posititon in order to survive an actual encounter. Things like pulling straight to guard like you see in MMA, BJJ, or Sub-Wrestling competitions is pretty unrealistic, you wouldn't wanna do that in a crowded bar or on the street, but knowing how to fight from that position is a practical thing to know.

    Maybe u should write up a letter to Andy Souwer, Masato, Sato, Krauss, Zambidis, Jomhod, Laursen, Sari and all the rest of those fighters and explain the "Techniques to counter a round kick". I'm sure they would be delighted to get the memo.

  • @EricMCKiller
    @EricMCKiller 18 лет назад

    I hope Buakaw never goes into mixed martial arts. Not because I don't think he could be successful, but he would have to adapt to an even more cautious style to avoid the takedowns. You wouldn't see as many kicks or kicking combos. Thats why we watch him, right?

  • @qmox
    @qmox 18 лет назад

    Buakaw would have some chances in mma or ufc but he should as a first improve his knee defence against takedowns going on lower part of body. Otherwise he has great eyes and also probably best frontkicks under 70kg as you can see in fight against masato. He also has some nice takedowns from muay thai fights like that one against pique, and good balance in klinch, so probably after one hard year of training for mma he could be seriously good but why should be when he is best in K1

    How could the judges stole him the title in front of all Million audiences in the world?! Even the German commentator sounded slightly surprises.
    This man is an animal, a killing-machine , A TITAN!!! Just watched his record:
    K-1 Fights: 18; Win:16 ; Lose:2 (in 3 years)
    MUAY THAI Fights :157 ; Win:140 ; Lose:7 ; Draw:10
    ...and all fights were as a PROFESSIONAL. As an amateur he got over 400 fights! To make it short, your chance to win against this man is by 5,1 percent!!!!
    A TRUE TITAN!!!!

    you need to worry a lot more than just getting punched in the groin while in the guard. The whole point of the guard is being able to survive while being on your back, avoiding strikes and looking for an advantage. Could be getting back up onto your feet in a neutral position, or sweeping and gaining a better top position to ground n pound or submit, or just getting a submission right from the guard.

  • @Honestabe86
    @Honestabe86 18 лет назад

    These fights are aleast 2 years old. He is even better now since his punching is great now.

  • @openmindedproduction
    @openmindedproduction 18 лет назад

    also, I'm not saying Muay Thai is not an effective art, because it is...but to say the sport of Muay Thai is closer to "real" combat then MMA is untrue, when in MMA you can do everything you can do in Muay Thai, plus throws, ground n pound (ie, striking an opponent while he's down), chokes, submissions/joint locks, etc.

    striking power is not his problem...it's him being too passive. I'd really like him to turn up the heat and fight more aggressively, would be a lot more entertaining. But it's true though, his KO/TKO percentage is only like 24% in K-1.

    part 1** - openmindedproduction, i agree with you to some degree. fights are different with different places and cultures. for example, in my area, as much as some mma moves can be used in a barfight, I wouldn't try to do a submission on another person because there's a high possibility that another person could stomp my face.

    Uhm for the nerds arguing about Tony Jaa taking Buakaw out and stuff... Tony Jaa = Not that good in the ring but a great Muay Thai BORAN!!! (the ancient lethal Thai boxing) fighter. Buakaw is a modern Muay Thai legend who actually fights so... I'd expect Buakaw to kick Tonys ass if fighting is under competition rules.
    Oh and nice highlight :)

  • @openmindedproduction
    @openmindedproduction 18 лет назад

    it would be stupid if he was offered less money to fight then he is getting now...but I don't see why it would be pointless if Pride or UFC would be able to pay him a lot of money...he would just need a little while to get used to takedowns and submission defence and he could do well in MMA. I don't understand why you would think its backwards to learn more to fight MMA.

    ACtually, Nobody knows the real origin of Muay Thai, but Cambodians have been trying to claim the style for the longest, so if prakster and chhaylemm want to believe that Muay Thai is from their country than let 'em. I practice Muay Thai and have been studying the history for a few years now and everyone has their own theory (from cambodia or derived from shaolin kung fu or grew outta a banana tree). It doesn't matter.

    Listen man, Buakaw is a Thai fighter and has been fighting Thai since 8, he is now 23 which means he has 15 years experience that's why he is so good, but putting him into MMA would mean that he would have to start his training in BJJ and how would he put up on the ground with people who have had much more experience. That would mean that as long as he knocks out his opponent he'll be aaiight but as soon as the fight goes to the ground he's done...and No one wants to see that.

    No "sike" or "j/k" in ur last comment, sounds to me and probably most of us that u were serious. If my memory serves me right Dekkers competed at 67kg (he's now 72kg), Buakaw, around 71.5kg....still Dekkers was never as fast as Buakaw. Their weight difference isn't large enough to be relevant. Cro Cop and Wanderlei are heavyweights, that's like sayin Tyson hits harder than Mayweather jr...Duh!! That goes without saying. Lets just say we never had this convo and go on with our lives...lol.

    Tony is a great "actor and stuntman" but he wouldn't even make it to Buawkaw in K-1. K-1 is for the best of the best strikers.
