When I watch stuff shot on the iphone 13 I constantly see a strobing type of effect. But it also seems to disappear sometimes on playback. I saw this in the wide shot of the truck crossing the bridge. I can't really figure out what this is... but smoetimes it appears that frames get skipped. I at first thought it was a shutter issue? Or something to do with recording at 60fps. So you see any of that? And/or is this purely my computer (which I'm wondering...) since sometimes shots play normal - othertimes they don't..
Not sure if I see it. I do know the Dolby Vision HDR can do weird stuff as it tries to set exposure and white balance. I filmed pretty much all of it on Filmic Pro with custom white balance and exposure at 24 fps.
@@TheGlassEyeTV Thanks for the reply! If you didn't notice it - then I would think it's a non-issue. This might be a real dumb question, given what you just said, but so can FIlmic Pro change it to do different frame rates? Someone told me the 13Pro could only record 30 and 60 fps.
Hey Nima! Nice to bump into you and your channel just from searching up info on cinematic mode in the new iPhone. Wow, the quality of your content is great and you speak to the camera so naturally like you've been a RUclipsr from the start! Why didn't you start one earlier? or did you? Anyways, good luck with your channel!
Thanks for sharing! Do you know if Filmic Pro has fixed the issue of losing your locked settings upon rotating the iPhones orientation since this video? Thanks again. 👍😊
I have a love/hate relationship with filming on my phone. Maybe it’s cuz I’m so used to tactile feedback from the camera buttons that’s throwing me off haha. Banger as usual bro 🤯😎
My iPhone 13 pro max opens up possibilities that were previously unthinkable with my heavy/bulky mirrorless, the lumix S1. For example if am driving through the mountains I can open the the sunroof and stick my hand out , iPhone in hand, for a perspective that’s difficult to get with my mirrorless. Also point the camera in different directions for a broader perspective. It not only makes a great B cam, in more cases than not it’s actually going to be my A-cam.
So which camera would you recommend to start out with if you want to make films / documentarys that looks good and is not bulky and over 2000$ greetings from Amsterdam
I happily broke the 180 rule. For me, filming on the phone was about doing it conveniently - just pull it out of my pocket and film. If i was going to rig it and include a VND etc, then may as well use a regular camera 🤷🏻♂️
I saw the video and came here for the BTS - a great honest review and stunning shots! When using Filmic pro did you use an ND filter, or just allow the shutter speed to crank up to maintain the 24fps?
@@TheGlassEyeTV haha yeah I guess so. That's something I came across when shooting with Filmic Pro. Fixed apertures mean that you can't adhere to the 180 degree rule so some footage may end up looking quite choppy and unnatural. I wonder, are the cinematic and pro res modes only available inside the native app?
ProRes is available in Filmic Pro but not sure about cinematic mode. Yeah you break the 180 degree rule but if you’re going to start rigging your phone, may as well use a proper camera. If the phone is someone’s only option though, I suppose it makes sense to get a VND
@@TheGlassEyeTV True that. I'm considering upgrading to the 13 Pro Max, bummed that 'cinematic mode' only offers 1080 at 30fps, but tbh the standard camera and that pro res looks great out of the box! Thanks for your answers.
Love the straightforward honesty when coming to a conclusion. Refreshing

Even in the native camera app you shoot in 24, 30 and 60 fps
@@TheGlassEyeTV Thanks! Much appreciated!
Keep making videos man. You're so freakin talented. It's just a matter of time that you'll reach the spot you deserve on RUclips. Congrats!
Appreciate that man
You speaks the truth.
Loved the video, awesome content, the opinion, the editing, everything!!!
The best camera? The one that’s on you
Best way to store my videos that I film? I heard ssd doesn’t work?
👍 Great, conclusion. Not compare a DSLR...
You harshly slated it’s film making capability...
Bro tel me the app name which one u use

Dan! That's high praise coming from you, thank you! A new world for me and so far so good.

I'll assume that it hasn't.......

Agree. With AF and IBIS on mirrorless cameras, in most situations it’s just easier to use a camera than a phone.

Love filmic pro! Grat video. Thanks!
How did you use cinematic mode and filmic pro at the same time?
I didn’t. The few cinematic mode shots were using the default camera app
This video is 2 years old already but I still learned something from it.
So which camera would you recommend to start out with if you want to make films / documentarys that looks good and is not bulky and over 2000$

That's a tough one. Honestly, anything that records video is going to be good enough these days.
Oh I love what you did with the mount, awesome stuff
Awesome video! Great advice and insight.
If you didn't use an ND filter, did you break the 180 degree rule to control overexposure? or how did you do it? Have you tried Protake or Moment app?

how tf your video is that good!!!!!!!!!! this channel is so underrated keep goin!
Thanks man 👊🏼
you have an amazing channel. 1 sub here
Thanks Miguel! Appreciate that
this video was amazing
Your honesty is refreshing……
this could very well be someones "second limb," haha. Great video.
thanks dude 👊🏼
Can you lock the angle so it doesn’t flip to vertical on the gimbal?
The issue is you go into underslung mode on the gimbal and the screen rotates a full 180 degrees.
Uhh-Mazing video
Great honest film. Subscribed!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it
Great video thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!

No ND's or any other filters - I wanted to keep things simple with the phone, otherwise, why bother filming with a phone right 🤷🏻♂️

Hi, what kind of setting did you use? (Flat, log2, log3, natural, etc) thanks!
I used Dolby Vision
@@TheGlassEyeTV thanks! Awesome videos btw!
Thanks man!
Great video! What case are you using? Leather/silicon?
Thanks - just the silicon one.
@@TheGlassEyeTV thank you!
