Hope everyone enjoyed this one! We’re back in video production, Alhamdulilah! More videos are on the way soon, inshaaAllah! Note: We would like to apologize for some a mistake at 1:11. In 1415, Iberia looked quite different, with Granada still being the last bastion of Al-Andalus in the South, and the four Christian kingdoms being Portugal, Castile, Aragon, and Navarre. This detail slipped through our radar during production. We are always looking for talented editors, artists, or anyone who can help improve our videos. Please reach out to us on our social media platforms or email us at islamichistorybooks@gmail.com! Lastly, don't miss out on Historiyyah’s trips to Al-Andalus planned in the upcoming months. More information is available on the website linked in the description!
Amazing video! I wonder what would have happened if the Saadis didn't decide to invade Mali but instead decided to plan a "re-reconquista" of the Iberian peninsuala.
@@aq4356 i wonder the exact same. It would maybe have been more beneficial. Or less divisive due to the fact the Songhai empire was Muslim for the most part. Allah only knows! Now that I think about it, I remember specifically having read that the Saadi after the Songhai Empire started to draw plans for a potential reconquista. But those plans were thwarted by internal revolts that he had to deal with, up until his death 🥲
None of the Saadians wanted to invade the Songhai Empire. Only the stupid emperor and one of his Spanish generals did! Stupid, pathetic, idiotic wastemen!
Saadis could have allied with Songhai and tap into gold reserves to finance the reqhazwa of Andalus not to mention establish ports on Songhai empire to facilitate trade and create navies to harass Spanish and Portuguese ships or at least keep them at bay perhaps occupy Azores and Canary Islands The Reghazwa of Iberian peninsula demands a lot of manpower resources planning timing against the Portuguese and Spanish monarchs we him by that time were an emerging sea powers Even though the Saadis defeated the Portuguese in this battle but it didn’t stop the Portuguese nor the Spanish to go on the offensive on the North African seaboard
The Saadis could have made partnership with Songhai to tap onto the gold mines create ports and navies on Songhai coasts to counter the Iberian naval arsenal around Africa as the Mediterranean was problematic thus the Spain and Portuguese needs to circumvent Africa for trade power and control The Re reconquista demands planning manpower maintaining supply lines and powerful naval capabilities not to mention the use of technological advancements in sea faring gunnery arsenal naval tactics where the Ottomans or more precisely the Barbary corsairs excelled Unfortunately Turks and Maghrebis wasted their energies on one another with revolts weakening the Makhzan to do any help for the Andalusians Re reconquista demands capabilities of North Africa as a whole not just Morocco with the first step or steps to have full control of Ceuta ( along with Mellilia ) and Gibraltar Strong navy thriving economy advanced weaponry trained troops and plenty gold supply My guesses or misses take it or leave it
