  • This zipper method is easy to sew, easy to remove, and that makes it easy to LOVE. Sew it with me, as I test-drive one of my newest draped dresses with this super simple closure.
    Before putting a ring on it, I like to wear it out--cuz wearing a garment out in the wild is never the same as in front of your sewing machine!

    I absolutely ADORE this woman and her spirit! Even though I dont really enjoy sewing...yes, I'm the weirdo who likes to design and cut patterns but sewing...not so much. Anyway...I get such enjoyment out of these wonderful videos and the awesome sass and beauty that glows throughout!! And can I just visit all of your fabric like one visits an art gallery? LOL. In a non stalker way.

I also think it helps to see you fiddle with a large amount of fabric under the machine. Look up Hooligan's Holiday, Misunderstood, Kickstart My Heart, Dr. Feelgood, Home Sweet Home, Primal Scream, the albums Too Fast For Love, Shout At the Devil, Dr. Feelgood, the self-titled Mötley Crüe, and Tommy's drum solos. Two things. I so needed this tutorial a few weeks ago when I had to make a costume for my daughters school production. I struggled a lot with the zip and had no idea what the pattern was trying to tell me. And I absolutely adore your dress!!! Was that from a pattern or something you designed? Love you, love your videos!

      Oh no, I wish I'd gotten to you sooner and eased your costume making!
      This dress is a draped design, I'm getting into using style tape on my dress form to create dresses. I'll put a video up on that soon!

  • @kazh4358
    @kazh4358 3 года назад

    Another great video 😊. I may have missed it but when you do the stitches across the bottom of the zip do you just do one pass? I'm thinking that as you've gone a way beyond the zip opening itself that there's no real need for any additional reinforcement there.

    • @handmadeharriells
      @handmadeharriells  3 года назад

      Just one pass! You’re creating a box around the zip. If your zip has metal coils, you’d skip the box and stick to a line of stitching on either side of the zip 😉

      This dress is my own design, but I have seen some similar bodices in McCalls. The skirt however is hella full, most commercial patterns won’t have a skirt this full as it take a lot of pattern paper!
