Bus Driver Runs Into Traffic to Save Little Boy

- In 2019, Cecilia Nation-Gardner was in the right place when a 6-year-old boy needed help. A driver with the Milwaukee County Transit System, Nation-Gardner risked her own safety by running into traffic to help a child who had wandered away from school and right into a busy intersection.
Her momma instincts kicked in! She deserves a raise

The way she grabbed his hand was such mom energy. Not to mention risking her life to save his! Ultimate mama moves.

How does a little boy walk away from a school in the middle of the day? Where were the teachers or school staff? Thank God this bus driver was there at the perfect time. ❤🙌🙏
He sounds like what we call "a runner". I was out on the playground with my K5 class when I saw a 5th grader walking from the back entrance towards our parking lot. He had been sent to the principal's office earlier on, and was sent back to class to fetch his bookbag. He decided to grab his bookbag from class and sneak out before making it to our principal's office. Thank God, some teachers were able to get to him before he crossed the street!
my oldest came home at least once a week, when he was in kindergarten.
Teacher were busy teaching about non binary genders
It's very easy to walk away wdym no ones watching

@meegssan5716 wow so telling lol. Imagine if everyone had this kind of thoughts lol not funny at all. 😬
The little boy was difficult for her to communicate with. She learned later he was autistic and only 6. A short time later she stopped and saved ANOTHER 6 year old who was trying to get to Georgia to see her momma and had been standing on the median in traffic. She hadn't even been a bus driver for a year when she saved these kids!Cecilia was nominated for an award for Black Excellence in 2019. Imo, she should have won. In the days of Gofundme for everything, she'd be financially set enough to at least take a vacation. BTW the award for Black Excellence isn't a racist thing, a black organization awards those who exemplify excellence and make their community proud for their accomplishments. And obviously it's necessary since she should have been recognized for this by more than just the black community.
I just knew the boy had different needs! From his walk to how he didn't engage, as I've worked in SpEd for nearly 20 years. Did the school get investigated and sued? A boy in NYC died due to this very same occurrence!
Yes, I remember that story here in NY. I think his name was Oquendo if I am correct, it was a tragedy!
That was my very first thought that he's probably on the autism spectrum; I have two sons on the spectrum, and the younger of the two eloped from head start when he was about three or four.
God bless Cecilia.
That’s wassup fr. She became a bus driver for a reason. God definitely has been ordering her steps. Glad those children were saved. My only question is where did were thee adults in charge of the kids especially the one who wander from school smh
Why not the human race she's not less human to be singled out as black
This is how mama’s react when they see kids in danger. Not just their child but ANY child! What a beautiful soul she is!!! ❤
Yessss! I saw a mama bear go into protective mode when she saw that child in trouble. She absolutely deserves recognition with a pay raise because she went over and above her call of duty. Bless her. 🥰❤️🥰❤️

Cecilia can ce ce her away out this situation and mind her own business, he got places to go and people to see, cookies to eat, made the great escape just to get caught by a good samaritan, tragic 😑
Everything about this is wholesome. That bus driver is that type of gal to call you “baby” or “honey” in the lunch line, and look at the cops tying his shoes.
Except for the cars that kept going on like nothing was going on
I was going to comment the same thing about a heroic bus driver and a kind officer who tied his shoes❤❤❤
Gal...is definitely a no. Don't argue. Take my word for it. Please. Please.
Except for the school that irresponsibly let him wonder out
"...type of GAL to call you 'BABY' or 'HONEY' in the LUNCH LINE." 😅
You mean well, but you're describing Cecilia in the role of a modern day mammy lol.

Years ago after dark which is really unusual for me I was halfway into Walmart when when I come to my senses and wonder what am I doing here I don't shop at Walmart. How did no one at school notice!?
Nobody was watching i understand there’s many kids and accidents happen but not little kids wandering away from school type of accidents
Autism, ADHD, many sort of mental disabilities can cause you to get confused, disorientated and sort of just disassociate and wander, i was a bad wanderer as a kid due to both aformentioned disorders, so much so that my parents had to get me a special ID bracelet to help police return me to them, it didn't matter what childproofing they had, i found a way to break through it
