Thanks for your perspective on this. Much appreciated. I guess I’m still trying to fully grasp the entire situation. It’s a little odd to me that, even though the powers that “were” at VMP were very public about the pressing plant, the board didn’t know about it. Or questioned how this endeavor was being funded? This has been talked about for the better part of a year or more. Plans had to have been in place for a long time and funding this big had to be approved. No? What was it that suddenly made them go - Hey! What the heck? Was there a whistleblower? I don’t know.
And was the pressing plant just an empty building? Or are there assets? Can they liquidate them? It’s all a bit confusing. And the new (old) VMP execs need to get out in front of this with the public and a very vocal Viynl Community . And not pull what Mofi did and just hope it goes away. That could be disastrous. Even if it’s just to say - we’re aware you have questions and we will be fully transparent as there are developments. Maybe they are saying that on Discord, but before today, I was not even on Discord. And I can’t be the only one.
I do agree that customer service at VMP has been five-star. I got a defective pressing of the recent Labelle RTM which was immediately replaced. Sadly the replacement was also defective. I was given the option of another replacement or a refund and I didn’t want to go through endless replacements so I opted for a refund, even though I love that album. I have a well loved original and was looking forward to a fresh pressing. Oh well…
Meanwhile, I just found out today that Bandbox went under. Another one bites the dust.
On a side note, I do love my subscription to Magnolia records and recommend them if you like their style of music. I have never been disappointed.
Thanks again for your keen perspective. Enjoy your coffee and vinyl!

Well said! Communication is a must! Recent development on Discogs is that emails are starting to go out but it’s unclear on why certain folks are receiving them and others aren’t. Hopefully new leadership addresses this moving forward.
Sorry to hear about your LaBelle. That album kicks and is one of my favorite ROTMs of last year.
Just signed up to Magnolia myself and awaiting my first record. So glad to hear positive feedback!
Thanks for your support. Hopefully when this is all said and done, VMP will come out on the positive side of this.

IVC is nice. So far they all sound great. Curious, what would it take for VMP to win you back?

💯! I am excited for the new leadership. I’m hoping VMP is a different company 6-months from now, and I mean that in a positive way.

As a European dude, i only ordered two times at VMP ever. Their pressings that i own are excellent. From what i've gathered in recent past, VMP is all over the place now though. I hear more and more about people receiving warped records or 2LP presses with the same disc twice inside the jacket amongst other things. Guess, i'll continue to stay away from VMP. It's too expensive for me anyways to have some colored discs and a bit of spot foil finish on the covers and stuff.

VMP is a true premium outside of the States. With shipping, taxes, and long transit times, I couldn’t imagine subscribing if I move outside of the US. If I really wanted something, I’d get it aftermarket.

VMP marketed the 25th anniversary pressing of Pearl Jam’s Yield as the inaugural pressing at their new state of the art “audiophile grade” pressing plant. It was the first shit show associated with the plant and the record ended up being pressed at Furnace. Part of my decision to order had to do with the it being the inaugural pressing. They never notified me and I had to find out via Reddit. I contacted them and they basically said tough shit and offered a refund.

@@VinylLatte I decided not to renew earlier this year. I was not excited about the offerings and tired of receiving damaged records due to their subpar mailers.

That’s understandable. I’ve seen several complaints about the mailers, and I have been an occasional victim myself. Hopefully leadership makes the right changes. 🙏
