This song and the mv as well are so fun! I freaking love 'em. V especially kills it 🔥 But it pisses me off how because of antis RM and bighit had to make a statement and apologize for the "misogynistic" lyrics. After this incident they stopped performing it and RM was marked because of it. He was very distressed and struggled with his writing. Since then he sends his lyrics to professionals so they can objectively analyze his words. He was candid about it in an 2021 interview as well. in front of the KOREAN PRESIDENT! "That experience, in turn, was an opportunity for me to self-reflect and question whether I'd been insensitive to gender equality. I want to do the best I can to take interest in the topic, learn and make improvements." It truly shows what a wonderful person he is!
Even though his intentions weren't bad, he apologized, learned from his mistakes AND he came back with 21st Century Girls, ARMYs favorite feminist anthem. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger right ? Now he's one of Korea's best songwriters. Truly a legend 💜 Loved your reaction. Can't wait for Butter!
Weeell, it was also because of a couple of short tweets RM uploaded of him covering sexy bits of two US rap songs where the slang *really* didn't translate well. 😅 That's why he as an individual was especially at the center of the (totally idiotic) backlash.
And I don't understand why RM was the only one to blame 🙄. Suga and J-hope also co-wrote it .. company passed the song (so yes company apologized). Other members must have been okay with the song too, that's why they all performed it .
But he was the only one (from the group) who took the blame and was heavily criticised 😤.
This song is such a fun bop, I love it, the vibe is electric. The Halloween dance practice version is well worth watching, it’s hilarious. And I agree, Tae kills it here - he does “bad boy” really well.

To me this whole mv just screams of irony and the lyrics are just like looking into the mind of a hormonel teenage boy. The Korean title of the song even translates directly as "Manly Men" - pure irony.
As a woman I have to say that I find absolutely nothing wrong with this song. In fact I think it's hilarious. 😂

THIS MV!!!! This was my 1st mv I ever saw of them. I was ARMY that instant! They pulled me in w/their charisma, humor, vocals & dance skills. I was looking for more with every mv that followed & I was not disappointed! Thanks for your reaction!
“War Of Hormone” was released as the second single off the album and was met with some criticism over the lyrics for objectifying women. It even caused them to release a statement admitting that they reviewed the lyrics and realized they could be perceived as misogynistic but that it wasn’t their intention during the writing process.
Since then, Big Hit’s whole team and BTS’ members have taken it upon themselves to meet with experts and read more books when they tackle sensitive subjects.
Personally, I don’t actually find the songs lyrics to be that bad. Though it’s comforting to know that BTS is always willing to take constructive criticism to better themselves.

You should watch the dance practice of this because I'm telling you it was so chaotic. It's like 10% of a practice and 90% of chaos 😂

I really love this song. The aesthetic is amazing and I am living for Taehyung's growls.
Hell Yeah!! This song is honestly one of my favorites. It's such a vibe. I think I mentioned when this one came up during one of your other videos that I think the whole "misogyny" issue that came about in regards to this song was blown out of proportion.. But BTS took the criticism in stride and grew from it which makes me love them more. And of course, it lead to "21st Century Girl" on their Wings Album in 2016, which is another of my absolute favorites.
This whole Era of BTS during Dark & Wild is amazing. It's somehow both really cute and totally Badass at the same time, in a way only BTS can pull off. This Album was recorded in the US, while they were also simultaneously filming American Hustle Life. You're finally at that point in their career. A very busy and stressful time for them.
You're going to love this: There's Dance Practices! And... not 1, but THREE!!! Mwahahahaha!!! And they are all awesome.

This song received so much hate and backlash in Korea, but then they let female idols run on stage with almost no clothes on their bodies.. Kind of contradictory when the diput is about misogynistic.

This song is basically a satire. A parody. They're basically making fun of boys and how they act during their teenage years. It's meant to be cringe-y and exaggerated. How anyone took the lyrics seriously when they talk about popping their pimples is absolutely beyond me. Literally, HOW? And even if it were somehow serious, the lyrics are basically an ode to women. Saying they're perfect and how men worship them. It's cheesy and cringe-y, but it's absolutely not misogynistic. Geez. Not only was WoH satire, but even in their "worst" moments, BTS always have treated women better than most male celebrities or idols. Still, I have huge respect for the way BTS (and specifically RM) reacted to this controversy. This was so ridiculous and yet they took it seriously and RM went on having his lyrics checked by professors of gender studies to make sure it's all ok.
Honestly, this "controversy" wasn't really about this song being problematic. It was blown out of proportion specifically because it was BTS. Even in kpop, there have been a lot of groups that have done WAY worse and they weren't being cancelled over it. I don't think this was really fans being concerned about a real issue, but antis, who were looking for a reason to take BTS down. Sure, there could have been someone who genuinely felt uncomfortable for some reason, but I would say it would be very few people. Not nearly enough to cause a huge controversy. Especially not in an environment where way worse than this was daily bread. If this was any other group, no one would say a word.
On a funny note, ARMY always says that this is the "straightest" BTS video/song and yet Jimin still gets slapped on the arse.

Women took offense to this song. I have heard way more songs to take offense to than this. Matter of fact some of the songs in today's world, I cannot listen to and turn them off immediately. Not only do they use bad language, call women bad names, and speak disrespectfully about women so I don't understand why they would be offended by this song.
BTS was accused of misogyny because of several MV's that seemed to exploit women. But they handled it well by checking future lyrics with womens organizations
