Also you can get a cheap wired remote online that should save you from having to keep contorting around the camera and save yourself waiting three seconds every picture. Hey thomas! Thanks for the feedback. So at 6.3 at 16mm on full frame and focusing on the center or back wall of the frame, everything is in focus! Everything 3-4 ft in front of the lens will be sharp at such a wide focal length. If you have furniture or anything closer to the lens, definitely stop down to the f/stops you mentioned to retain everything in focus. In my experience, all my photos have edge to edge sharpness 6.3-9 depending on lighting. Thanks for watching, appreciate the input!
hi, great video man! i started my real estate photography/videography journey not to long ago, and i was wondering where can i get *free music for real estate videos? that will be safe on all of those realtor websites.
Hey man! Great question, honestly it’s pretty tricky because anything that you use that is free, like downloaded off RUclips or something that says royalty-free, is still a gamble. You might not run into any issues on your end, but if a realtor posts it on social media and it gets flagged, then you can’t clear it. And that will definitely not make you look professional to a realtor. That’s why sites like epidemic sound are worth it because you have an amazing selection of music, and you’ll never run into that issue. 👍🏻
Amazing video! Thank you so much. I'm wanting to get started doing real estate photography. How did you learn all the different settings and how to operate a camera?
Hey Charis! Thanks so much for the feedback, greatly appreciate it! Great question, I learned just like you are, here on RUclips. Plus shooting, editing, & learning every single day.
Appreciate that! Glad you found it helpful. I have a lot more up to date content on my channel for RE photo & video if you’re interested, thanks for watching!
Interesting! Haven’t tried that. Personally I keep all my shots level, so the lines don’t look skewed. What I do for smaller/lower ceiling rooms is bring my tripod height down to mid wait level or so. Thanks for watching!
Tilt and shift lens ends a lot of the distortion that is the problem with a zoom lens they also give you a panoramic shot that will give you a picture with out the corner binding
Yeah I’ve used one and made a video on it! They’re great but since I do a lot more than just real estate photography, it’s not versatile enough for me. Been super happy using my 15-35 for it now though!
Thank you for making this video. So much useful, and much needed information for me. I'm not a professional photographer but I've got an opportunity to photograph several home and business projects for a contractor friend of mine. I will be using a Pentax K-5II DSLR, which is of course an APSC camera. I have several prime lenses, but I think my 16-85mm f/3.5- 5.6 zoom lens might be the most flexible.
Glad you enjoyed it! I have a lot more up to date videos on real estate photography & videography on my channel if you’re interested. Thanks for watching !
Thanks for the link, this was actually the first video I’ve seen when I searched real state photography then I started following u just last wk i think, since then ive been watching all ur videos, I forgot to mention earlier too that I already have a polarizer I didnt even know why i bought it before, i guess now I’ll start using it😃
Andrei, I continue to appreciate you videos. They are straight forward and easy to follow! Coming back to this particular video, I have a question. It may be that I've seen more recent videos with other cameras and your reference to using HDR and bracketing, but I've gotten confused on HDR vs AEB. Are these essentially accomplishing the same thing, but with two different approaches? Do I understand correctly that HDR combines the range of exposures back into one file within the camera AND AEB requires you reassemble them in post-software (Lightroom/Photoshop)? I should mention I'm using the Canon 5D mark iv as used in this video.
Yes, you're correct! As I understand it, you can create an in camera HDR jpg or use the AEB method to have the separate raw or JPG files, and merge in LR or PS. I still do the 5 bracket AEB RAW files and send that off to an editor or blend myself. I'd say try both and see what works best for you!
Do you have a video that shows how your edit your real estate photos and blends the bracketed photos together? Ive always got discouraged when I got to the editing because it never looked professional. And I’d like to steam line the editing.
I'm perusing this, thanks for the instruction and tips. If you can afford 1 lens with a ZV-E10, is the tamron 11-20mm a good option for real estate videography?
Congrats, it’s a sweet industry to be in! I’m not familiar with that camera personally, but assuming it’s a crop sensor then yes! Ideally even a 9-10mm could be more beneficial too. I also have a lot more up to date content on real estate photography & videography on my channel and a community in my description you can join if you’re interested too. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the tip! Yes I know, didn't realize it till the video was out and a ton of people made me aware of it. 😆 thanks for watching and glad you found it helpful!
Thanks so much! I have a couple of Lightroom/PS tutorials on the channel. For export settings, when we deliver the photos, we give them full res + smaller MLS sizing options to download from. Thanks for watching!
Still a great vid! TBH I like how its shot mostly on your iPhone with some dslr b roll added in. Makes it feel more spontaneous like I'm actually there getting all the secret tips or like a video my friend would send me ya know?
I'm a real estate photographer I do basically exclusively real estate media. For someone looking to focus on exclusively real estate media as far as kit goes, I have some recommendations. 1. Use a prime lens. Zoom lenses have more glass in them and are more likely to give you barrel distortion. If you need a tighter shot, just crop in lightroom. 2. Lens speed doesn't matter. Because in real estate photography nothing is moving, having a very wide aperture is pointless because you can expose your shots as long as you need to and typically you're looking for the image to be as sharp as possible. 3. Don't use a ball mount. I used one for years, then I discovered the manfroto jr geared head it is 10x better. And don't use a cheap tripod, use a nice carbon fiber. My head / tripod are worth $1200, and because of it i've saved thousands from faster shoots and less time adjusting in lightroom. 4. Don't use a 2 sec timer. Get a remote. They are usually like $10 on amazon, and believe me, waiting an extra 2 seconds on every shot becomes highly annoying, especially when you're on a tight schedule. 5. Get a flash. Blending color values of a flash with ambient light (called flambient technique) is generally considered the gold standard in real estate photography.
Hey! Thanks for your tips, appreciate your insight! Curious on what prime focal length you're using that's wide enough for interior photography and doesn't give you any distortion? Since this video, I've shot OCF but now with my business we've gone back to HDR and outsource our editing to keep up with volume and still get great results. Thanks for watching!
Great information. How do you use the polarizing filter? Do you leave it on for every shot or just when needed? Do you have to change any of the camera settings when using the filter?
Hey glen! Yes, I pretty much leave it on through the whole shoot. Helps with wood floors, reflections, and deeper blue skies. Don’t really have to change any settings, you’ll notice when you put it on your lens, the shot will look a little darker so you just have to adjust for that. This is the one I have amzn.to/3pMjfkf thanks for watching!
@@AndreiRestrepo i did already see your other video about Editing and it's GOLD!!! you did put too much value into it.. one last question, do you know why I make my three HDR pictures and open them with photoshop they lose color (Mid tones)? I'm using an M50 Canon Camera, any tip about it? thanks for the answer by the way!!
Thank you! Hmm, do you mean the preview version of the image that you can see on your camera or on your computer before importing, look different from after they’re in the editing program like photoshop? If so, it’s because once you’re in Lightroom or PS, you’re previewing the actual raw file, which is typically flatter. Previewing it on camera and your computer, is the picture profile you had on your camera like standard or something. Let me know if that doesn’t make sense and I can try and clarify more. Thanks!

RAW for sure! If you plan on editing your photos - raw is the way to go. That way all the information isn’t caked into the image and it is uncompressed and fully editable! Definitely a must for real estate work if you have to adjust WB, exposure, colors, etc in editing. Thanks for watching!
Nice video Andrei, thank you for sharing these tips. However, I've got a question for you. How do you deal with optical distortion produced by a wide lens such as 16mm? Best regards
Hey Anderson! Good question. First off, you want a lens that is rectilinear, meaning there won’t be any fish eye looking distortion like a go pro. Second, higher end lenses will have better distortion control then lower end lenses where thing with definitely look distorted. My 16-35 does a great job and keeps everything looking nice for real estate! Thanks for watching!

Hey Cruz, thanks so much for the feedback, I really appreciate it! I totally understand what you mean, I felt the same way! To start a real estate photography business you just need to be doing real estate photos! No one is telling me that you have to offer videos or virtual tours or anything else, because if you deliver a really great photos and an awesome service, they will keep using you. 👍🏻 The only other thing I offer along with real estate photos highlight videos of the homes, so it’s kind of like a virtual tour of the home, but in a cinematic more interesting way. Great Video! Much needed topic that is not talked about enough! Keep it up!
Thanks so much man! Yes I agree, definitely not a lot on this topic! Thanks for watching!
Just want to say that I love you for posting this. On God homie, thank you so much!
Hey man! Super glad you found it helpful! Appreciate the comment greatly! 🤙🏻
Basically a great explanation for basic RE photos
Basically 🤙🏻 lol thanks so much Hugo!

This video helped me out so much, thank you! So informative, straight to the point, and easy to follow.
Thanks so much! I have a lot more content on real estate photo & video on my channel if you’re interested. Thanks for watching!
f6.3 seems like a very shallow depth of field. You need to get everything in focus. Usually F9-F12 is usually recommended.
Also, how many times did I say “basically” someone count it!!
I think basically that was a great vid. Good job
hi, great video man! i started my real estate photography/videography journey not to long ago, and i was wondering where can i get *free music for real estate videos? that will be safe on all of those realtor websites.
Awesome! Well structure video, good pace and easily understandable 😁 Appreciate your education!
Glad it was helpful! Appreciate it Kevin!
Thank you so much for this really informative video for real estate Photography. You explained everything. 👏👏🙌
Appreciate that! Glad you found it helpful. I have a lot more up to date content on my channel for RE photo & video if you’re interested, thanks for watching!
THanks so much for sharing your wisdom here! I appreciate all the tips and will give a real estate shoot a try this week.
Thanks, and best of luck! I have a lot more up to date content for real estate photo & video if you’re interested. Thanks for watching!
Fun fact, I'm still using my 1st tripod as well. Bought it 41 years ago. Nice informative video.
Nice! I'm still using this one too, but retired it to my office for the videos I make on here. Thanks for watching!
I am from Houston too! Thanks for sharing
Nice! I have a lot more up to date content on RE photos & video too on the channel if you're interested. Thanks for watching!
An angle I like is for smaller rooms, position the camera above the door and look down
Interesting! Haven’t tried that. Personally I keep all my shots level, so the lines don’t look skewed. What I do for smaller/lower ceiling rooms is bring my tripod height down to mid wait level or so. Thanks for watching!
I tried your style today and images came out great 🙌
Glad to hear it !! 👌🏻
ANDREI MY FIRST SHOOT IS NEXT WEEK! you & Taylor are the best!!
Hey Jeremy! That’s awesome, congrats!! You’re going to kill it! Super glad you’ve found the videos helpful. Thanks for watching! 🙌🏻
Thanks for the link, this was actually the first video I’ve seen when I searched real state photography then I started following u just last wk i think, since then ive been watching all ur videos, I forgot to mention earlier too that I already have a polarizer I didnt even know why i bought it before, i guess now I’ll start using it😃
Hey! Awesome, glad it was helpful! Feel free to reach out to me once you get started and have any further questions. :)
Basically, its basically a good video Cheers.
Appreciate the feedback! Thanks for watching
basically. 😂
Do you have a video that shows how your edit your real estate photos and blends the bracketed photos together? Ive always got discouraged when I got to the editing because it never looked professional. And I’d like to steam line the editing.
I think you found it!
Please will you Link here?
Nice video, not that many people out there covering this topic
Appreciate the feedback! I agree, definitely want to put more info out on this topic. Thanks for watching!
Why do I feel like I can start a real estate photography business tomorrow this video so clear thank you
Wow thank you! I really appreciate that, thanks for your support! :)
I love all the information I got from this video. One suggestion, you need to limit the number of times you use the word “basically”.
Thanks for the tip! Yes I know, didn't realize it till the video was out and a ton of people made me aware of it. 😆 thanks for watching and glad you found it helpful!
Super helpful video! Can you make a video about your Lightroom/Photoshop export setting for clients, IG, etc?
Thanks so much! I have a couple of Lightroom/PS tutorials on the channel. For export settings, when we deliver the photos, we give them full res + smaller MLS sizing options to download from. Thanks for watching!
Still a great vid! TBH I like how its shot mostly on your iPhone with some dslr b roll added in. Makes it feel more spontaneous like I'm actually there getting all the secret tips or like a video my friend would send me ya know?
more iPhone-shot vids soon??
great video... might add - get a 3-axis tripod head and wired shutter release. speeds things up. shoot extra bracket for window views.
Great points bill, appreciate the input! Thanks for watching.
@@AndreiRestrepo Lawoa ultra wide primes are almost completely free if barrel distortion. I use a 9mm on apsc sensor, then crop in if I need to
Wow! Great video Andrei 👌🏽
Thanks for sharing 😊
Hey! Thanks for checking it out, glad you found it valuable!
Thank you for this valuable info, looking forward to start my journey this year!
That’s awesome! Glad you found it valuable. 🤙🏻
This is the one I have amzn.to/3pMjfkf thanks for watching!
thanks for making this,,,
Glad it was helpful, thanks for watching!
I really appreciate this video. I love your teaching style. Thanks a lot.
Hey! Thanks so much, I really appreciate the feedback! Let me know if you have any additional questions or anything I can help out with. Thanks!
Thanks for posting this video, I plan to start real estate photography soon and this was really helpful!
That’s awesome! It’s a great photography industry to be in. Thanks for watching!
Hola excelente videooo. Como haces para que la cámara saque 3 fotos automáticamente?
Hey! It’s called “Auto Exposure Bracketing” also AEB, for canon cameras. Not sure if it called something else on other cameras!
The last tip is mind blowing! i used to do it manually!
Hey David! Glad you found it valuable, I used to do the same too!
@@AndreiRestrepo Do you have another video about editing this HDR or using the same method with Flash? I would love to see it!!
Thanks!
hello I will be doing my first real estate photo and video soon . I have a canon 60d and 5d mark3 lens I have is 12-24 F4 tokina crop lens 24-70 2.8 tamaron 24-105 canon for photos what should I use should I go canon 60d with 12-24 crop lens or should I put 12-24 crop to my 5d mark 3 I will be using Djirs2 pro for video
Hey Ishan! Hmm, I think to get the widest photos, I’d keep your 12mm crop lens on your 60D. Have you ever used that lens on your 5d3? Just be careful because the dslr mirror might hit a crop lens. Same setup for video too! Thanks for watching
@@AndreiRestrepo yes i have tried on 5dm3 but i have to everytime adjust and careful to put it on 14 or 17 mm to avoid the view of inside of lens and the photo quality from that lens has alot of chromatic abbreations blue and mix colour tinge but shooting with crop 60d i get the full view but blue purple on corners do you suggest to use 24-702.8
@@AndreiRestrepo thank you so much i got the opportunity to photograph 5 realestate club society with the same company and a hotel by Hyatt regency in india i am very excited hope everything goes smooth 😊😊 and they also asked me to come on board as inhouse photographer for all the realestate i did there club opening photos back in 2015 and they still remember my number they called me back yesterday do you still do photography . I said yes recently i also started my photography studio i showed them my recent work they loved it . I mostly do fashion food product adding realestate to my list
Great informational video. You never stated, if you were shooting RAW or JPEG images? I am hoping to start my business this summer.
@@AndreiRestrepo Thank you for your quick reply! Cheers!
@@istasalazar there's also an adjustment for this in Lightroom/Photoshop - just check the 'Remove Chromatic Aberration and Enable Profile Corrections' :-)
Nice breakdown. Thanks for sharing and helping people out for free.

If your 16 how do you start on real estate photography? Got an sl2 with 18-55m kit lens, 50mm f1.8 lens, and 55-255mm, not much of a portfolio too
Hey! That’s awesome you want to get started at s younger age, could have a full business in your twenties! I’d get an ultra wide lens for your sl2, canon makes a 10-18mm i believe. Then, all you need is a tripod to get started. To get your first client, I’d try reaching out to any possible realtors you may have a connection with - family, family friends, people you know, etc. I dive more into how I would pursue being a professional photographer in this video: ruclips.net/video/xWAeGkAobA0/видео.html
Here’s the canon lens you could use!

just stumbled across your videos and wanted to say you are so underrated. This quality content is appreciated so thank you. Am just curious but do you offer virtual tour services? I've been wanting to start a real estate photography business but am discouraged that I'm not able to offer all services so it''s kind of hindered me on getting started.
My clients love it, they never ask about 3-D or virtual tour stuff with me. Plus I’m not interested in doing those things either. Thanks so much for watching!
@@AndreiRestrepo thank you so much for the speedy response, your response has me STOKED. I've been worried that I'd have to offer EVERY service (3D tours, floorplans) to keep up but those don't appeal to me nor would I want to do them so this helps me a lot. Will keep you posted on my journey and looking forward to more videos from you! Thanks again!
Sounds great man, stoked to hear it! 😊🤙🏻
Any way of PMing me a photo highlight video? I'm curious what you do/offer that your clients really like.
I noticed you did not use any lights or diffusers. Let me know your thoughts on that. Do you think you need them? I can edit very good but just trying to cut down on some of the post editing. Thanks
There’s pretty much two types of real estate photos - HDR blended like these, or off camera flash. I shot OCF for a few years since around the time of this video but it would just take too long on site, especially since I do a lot of video. We now shoot 5 bracket HDR photos and outsource the editing and get great results. I’d try both to see what you like! Thanks for watching
I’m going to start my first Real estate job as a photographer and I’m a little nervous. Thank you for the tips!
You got this! Make sure to check out other videos on my channel about real estate photo. Thanks for watching!
how is it going ?
Where do I shoot. How many photos and angle should it be for each room (like 3 photos for each room with each shot capturing different angles)?
Totally up to you! I typically deliver 2-3 for main spaces, and 1-2 of smaller secondary rooms. Use composition to showcase the room the best way. Typically corner to corner or head on shots
@@AndreiRestrepo What about bathrooms? If the shower is in the picture should i get a shot of it?
Corner to corner! You should think about joining my community, I have a full exclusive BTS video series on there that's not on RUclips, along with a private chat group with other photographers, and some free digital products. It's $5/month, not trying to sell you on it but it's aimed or for people starting out like you so I think you could get a lot of value from it! Here it is if you're interested: andreirestrepo.com/

My wife had always been in the title industry and worked with realtors and I got connected with a few family friend ones to try RE photography out! First few I didn’t even really charge for, and then barely anything when I got started just to get my foot in the door. I always have a video sharing more in depth on my experience on how I got started and getting clients, and a lot more up to date content on my channel! ruclips.net/video/4aWDlwQca7Y/видео.htmlsi=dBPMJN3WcxPDIMZG
I love your style and technique 👍🏼
Thanks so much, appreciate it!
What would be a best option for starting out? Iphone for phone or an camera that won't break the bank for starting off.
Yeah I would experiment with your iPhone first if you have a newer model! Especially for video too. Otherwise for just RE photography, you could look into older preowned DSLR cameras like the one I was using, the canon 5d series, 6D series, or any of those. Along with entry/mid level mirrorless cameras like the r10, r8, r7, or r6. Thanks for watching!
Basically, this is a nice tutorial video. Thanks a lot.
