It really isn't a sleeper, but I think it is classified as a sleeper in terms of not looking overly fancy like an Aventador SVJ. It looks very "boring" in comparison to most performance cars. I personally love it though.

What alot of people don't know is that the m5 is actually underated from factory. Most Dyno at around 615 wheel stock
Not most, Some. Base M5’s will do 590-600 and competitions will do 600-615. 4WD, bigger drivetrain loss is about 670/680 hp. definitely underrated though.

Props for good clean runs, m5 f90 is fastest sedan for the money until the new m3 with xdrive. But I still prefer v8 sound... comp pack sounds pretty good stock.

Fernando Castillo not a point to make cuz NOBODY wants to be $32 out for any kind of repair whether you ballin and got it or not. F10 woulda saved you that which is why the pos point sticks on E60M5s (luv’em em and leave em).

@@CylinderHeadE60 if you go from emotions while driving, the newer the M5 is, the number it gets. The F10 was already boring in comparsion to a full exhaust/tune E60 M5 i drove. Speed is not everything, and tbh an M5 E60 is still fast.

You can skip the M5 vs M8 Drag races (even though the M5 did get one clean launch and still lost) because there seems to be a launch control issue with the M5. But you can watch the roll races, and it's clear that the M8 is the faster or the two cars.

Ed J hey man, I wanted to ask how are these new f90 m5s reliability especially if planning to do a stage 2 setup on one? (Tune and catless downpipes. Long term
Av87 they’re solid! Once you get onto an E30 map, that’s when your motor really starts to take a turn for the worse. I’d advise to be S2 on 93 octane, more than enough power. Long story short, if you keep up with the basic maintenance like oil changes every 3k miles while logging it frequently as well, you should be fine. But also don’t be doing pulls every minute 😂 I’m a 8er owner, so I’m not too much into the f90 knowledge but I do have the same issues with multiple friends that have f90’s as in coolant issues.. nothing else really to be honest, just heating. Well m5 is a downright sleeper, but this one in particular is everything but one tho. The f90 in particular is invisible, is wayyy to similar to the normal 5 series and the sides don't bulge enough, only thing that really confirms is the 4 pipes even then...

A MotorTrend tested M5 ran a 10.9 at 130mph... much faster than a FATcat

So how does the Panamera stack up to a 2010 Camaro SS? I ran up on a M5 for sure ... comp I think. .. on the interstate 1 day and we played around but he seemed like he didn't have to much for me. Not bragging by no means just wondering for knowledge. All my Camaro SS auto car has so far is headers w/o cats and cold air. No tune. Oh.. he still had a temp tag so he might not known how to drive it yet idk. Never did get to meet him. This was neer Cincinnati. If you see this let me know brother.
I pulled on a manual C7 Z06 with my Panamera so Id say its quicker than the SS
A f80 M3 is faster than a 2010 Camaro SS. A 2010 Camaro SS is not in the same ballpark of anything sports car related dated 2016 or better.

tyronehand lol if you’d know about cars you know the Gen 3 CTS V transmission is god awful and ruins the car. what does the CTS v do better? Because even with more horsepower and torque and less weight, it’s 1/4 ET is slower, it’s 1/4 MPH is slower, it’s 60-130 MPH is about a whole second slower. However that new one replacing the CTS V with the 10 speed auto is going to be a freak. And king 😬
Until it gets awd, the ctsv will not beat either the panemara or the bummer. The diff between 617 and 630hp is so slight it is easily overcome by other deficiencies in the whole car setup, of which the ctsv has many. Not trying to dig on it - it was the car that launched the original luck-barge wars now 10 years ago. It just needs to evolve and that means more than stuffing a vette motor in it each year. Look at the C8 vette - that’s evolution for you and it’s now a super car killer with under 500hp.
Ed J yeap u right on that. I wouldnt say the transmission ruins the car because I actually love that car, but it is an awful transmission in manual mode specifically. But the rest of the car is really good tho

Non car people, half the time you'd be surprised, they see a Ferrari and think it's a sports car, not a supercar. And the other half would think it's a Lambo and bot a Ferrari (which is funny to watch). "Sleeper" is also a word used in the car community, not used among non car people.
The M5 is also a flashy car, it turns heads around even though it's a sports luxury sedan.
So in the end I apologize to completely disagree because a M5 is not nowhere near a "sleeper". Its a proper sports luxury sedan with almost supercar capabilities.
I encourage you to look up the definition of a "sleeper car" and what truly defines one. Mostly the look cheap or just standard trim plus a simple interior as well, but has an incredible performance.

Steph are you serious thinking that the BMW M5 could beat my Cadillac CTS-V which is 640 hp stock. It's under 4200lbs and a 3.5 zero to sixty time. Now if you are talking imports then I will agree with you but I bet my CTS-V will dust any and every BMW M5 you put in front of me like I do in the Chicago land area already.
The M5 does 0-60 in 2.9 LOL it beats the CTSV in every way. From 60-130mph, on the quarter and has a higher trap speed.

That M5 is still no match for a Porsche Taycan Turbo S in a 1/4 mile drag race, or even from 0-165mph. Even a Tesla Model S Performance will beat the M5 in a 1/4 mile drag race. But at some point beyond the 1/4 mile, the 5M will overtake the Tesla.

Tyler Drane agreed the pani turbos are smaller and designed for response. Intercoolers as well. That and the super tall 7th gear make the top end a slower pull. Plus if he is running a tune with stock intercoolers, I bet they are soaking much sooner than a stock setup would. Steph is right- he needs to set up a run against the 2020 panamera or RS7 or something same vintage stock.

I used to love BMWs but nowadays I'll pass on it..BMW has dropped in quality..nowadays it's nothing but fancy electronics, sensors, and hard plastics under the hood that stay in the repair shop..they're nice for the 1st 2 years after that its consist of too much maintenance..let's not act like we dont know this..BMW is riding on name nowadays..If I was to go german I would go to Mercedes AMG 63 65...for now I'll stay with the American made Dodge, Chevy and Ford..real horsepower at half the cost..
