    Kentucky is what they are. They have zero NBA locks but 7-8 really really solid CBB players. If they are hitting shots, playing team basketball, theyre hard to beat. If they play like christmas break already started like they did Saturday, they can be beat by anyone.

      Obviously if a team plays like their worst game of the season, they can be beat by anyone. This is NOT last years team. Last years team couldn't defend at all AND Cal couldn't make any coaching adjustments. Reminder that this team has TWO LOSSES all season. STop acting like the sky is falling.

    Ky needs to establish a mid range game. Game film has shown other teams know how to pressure,guard and switch and that has frustrated them. Switching up-the offense and defensive will make them more of a threat and the offense will improve. The handoff after handoff isn’t working with all new players, maybe with a team that has had time together in the system for a couple 2-3 years it might, but we need to keep other teams from zeroing in on us defensively.

    Pope is playing with house money after beating Gonzaga and duke this year. We werent expecting to be a top 15 team at this point at all.
    Only thing incan think of is some more wins on the recruiting trail. At this point, its obvious he is a great coach. He just needs to keep bringing in top flight talent.

      Caleb Wilson is committing soon. This season is a bonus anyway, since there won't be much carry over roster-wise to next year.

    UK needs some offensive production from a big in the paint. How you do that, I don't know. Amari isn't an offensive threat outside of passing or an open dunk. He needs more consistent energy as well to do what he does best. Garrison has HUGE upside and I see a high ceiling for him to become one of the best bigs in college basketball, but currently he is raw. He has some moves, but can't consistently finish around the rim. The only guy I have seen that can is Carr. He is thinner, and more of a stretch 4 than a traditional big, but he is deceptively strong going to the basket, can put the ball on the floor, has great touch and footwork. His biggest issue is holding onto the ball. He lacks awareness and turns it over at times in traffic. Know when to pass it back out. I know there is a desire in this system to have a big who can stretch the floor. Carr can do that, although he hasn't shot the 3 well this year (needs to shore that up, he could barely draw rim against OSU) and Garrison has some ability as well. But with this team, you need some inside threat. I don't know if that is going small with Carr at the 5. You may give up some rebounding against bigger teams, but you can draw their bigs out with Carr and let him go to work, like against Duke and defensively play some zone. Another strategy could be going big with Garrison at the 4 and running a high low with him and Amari, but you need something going on inside to open up the movement outside and 3 point shooting.

    I just feel like this group of ball players that Coach Pope brought in are a solid group of role players and they are feeling so much pressure that BBN puts on our teams. It’s hard to play basketball at the bluest blue blood program in college basketball! It takes a pure “Dawg” with mass confidence in their game. Like a John Wall, D Cuz, Antoine Walker, Anthony Davis, Turner, Rex Chapman, etc, etc…so many! If our guys could just play loose, free and not so tight they would be fine.

    Uk needs Amari Williams to play like the back to back defensive player of the year, and they need to get more aggressive on defense and when on offense they need to get kobe brea more shots.

    KY bigs cannot shoot, So opposing teams do not have to respect. Carr should be the Big out front part of the game to pen things up. On top of that someone on the KY coaching staff needs to make Carr go Left. He never does

    RC is right Jaxon Robinson is not gonna break anyone down off the dribble. Butler is that guy, but he isn’t a consistent shot maker. Brea can’t break you down either. We are going to lose a lot of games in the SEC this season. GO CATS!

      Facts!

    • @Ryan_Rants
      @Ryan_Rants 20 дней назад +1

      Yeah Robinson isn't a contact guy. He just isn't. I watched late in that OSU game, he had a defensive rebound in the corner off a long miss and let a guy just come and take it from him. Offensively, he is a pull up guy in transition and a scorer off a screen but not a creator. Butler is the creator, but he has to be smart. He was riding high off that UofL game and made some questionable decisions against OSU. Driving into traffic and forcing up bad shots against taller guys, making bad passes. He needs to know when to pull it back out, and he does. He will be fine. He just tried to do too much in that game because no one was getting anything going. He also needs to stay out of foul trouble. Brea needs to be a better driver. The way they run him off the three point line, the opportunities are there and he occasionally does it, but he needs to work on that floater or go up stronger. If he can get 2-3 baskets in a game going to the rim, the defense will have to honor that and it opens up a lot for him. I predicted 5-6 SEC losses, but if we play like that it is going to be a lot more. Hopefully they come into conference play ready to go!
