- Back on the Harley Davidson Sidecar build finally! I am scraping the old swing arm I made and building a new one from scratch. I will be using my new to me Index Wells Super 55 picked up milling machine from the late 1950's. I was not happy with the old swing arm because I made it from cutting with the grinder and band saw, pretty accurate but I can do better with the milling machine.
Thanks,
Harry
You are very informative I'm planning on doing this with two identical bikes- maybe someday I'll put the engine back on the sidecar for emergencies or imagine a dual engine bike...V8 lol maybe just a small engine to tow myself out of trouble any way I have a 1978 Yamaha xs1100 but I'm just a little too amateur what would be the perfect parts for me to match your build? I don't have a fancy setup but I can cut and weld and when they are both center stand they are identical...also I'm unsure about the width if I should go widest possible or just short of the widest possible allowed in Michigan from the bike to the sidecar......I like how i can carry extra parts.....make the seat a convertable tent shelter and possible could weld a come along with a ground spike to pull people out of trouble....not to mention winter riding like they say in germany no bad weather just bad clothing
Sounds like you got it figured out. The sidecar project is on the back burner for know. I lived up by the U.P. toward Watersmeet, MI for 20+ years but never rode in the winter to cold for me.
@@desertdogsgaragemetalworks3843 I'm getting wind hand guards...battery wired handlebar warmers- I wear leather glove gauntlets and I'm making a cotton glove warmer above my engine I always wear a lot of layers and a scarf plus long John's help but I always take a second at stops to put my hands on the engine
@@johnny1173 Hardcore. I always used lowers they helped the feet stay warm.
