🇺🇸🎸Make country music great again
Marty stretching and got his Cosmic Cowboy gear on! Loving the new/vintage sounds. Very Marty!
Bring on that new album ASAP.
Fantastic. Sounds like a lost late 60's Byrds song. Very cool sound, and the video is very trippy. Love it.
Was just about to say the Byrds a little Tom Petty too.
He was a big fan of Roger.
When I first heard it I was thinking the Beatles, but I guess the Byrds would work too.

Just saw Marty and the Superlatives a couple of weeks ago in El Cajon for the first time. While it was a fantastic show, we were very disappointed that they didn't play this song or Country Star. In fact, they only played two songs off the current album, instead going with old warhorses from 20 years ago. Hey Marty, I love you, but please have some faith in your newer material, and remember that you do have new fans coming out to see you that really want to hear newer songs. As a sidenote; we were stoked that you did four songs off of Way Out West!
Marty and his band played in Franklin, Georgia last Saturday and brought down the house. Surf is up, Marty!
Such an amazing talent! He and the band can play anything and it will be outstanding. Yes!!!!
Psychedelic country...good stuff
I knock myself for not being familiar with Marty Stuart until last year and mourn the many opportunities I missed to see this incredible band play live, (seen him twice now and will have three and four covered next month). Yet as I've dug deep into the back catalog to catch up, I've come to the conclusion this is an artist who, while on the back end of his career in terms of time, remains at the top of his game. That some of his best work may be happening now is mind-boggling. Love this tune.
I know how you feel. My parents & I discovered him by accident via the TV show when I used to visit them on the weekends & I'm a rock guy so I had my eyes on Cousin Kenny (and Marty of course) and they enjoy Southern Gospel so we agreed that if they toured, we would go see them.
I just had my 6th show last month & I will go as long as I can.
If you ever get a chance to go see him live please do!!! You will not regret it.
Like I said, seen them twice now and am seeing them two times more next month. Has to be one of the best bands live ever.
Yep....me too. Thanks to looking for live Byrd tunes on here, I came across Roger, Chris, Marty and the Superlatives during the "Sweetheart.." anniversary. Saw them twice this past month and it was incredible. Also, research Kenny, Harry and Chris as their backgrounds are about as rich as Marty's. Send Harry a message on his website. He'll love it.
@@thablakester My discovery of Marty was also accidental. For the past five years I've been going to a somewhat eclectic music festival in Marfa, TX, the Trans-Pecos Festival of Music + Love. Marfa may have formerly been known as a cowboy/farm town but now has sort of hipster/artsy bent. The festival is at a renovated and upgraded trailer park of sorts called El Cosmico. Anyway, most of the 1500(?) tickets are sold before you have any idea who is going to be playing and you trust the promoters to put on a good show. (The owner of the trailer park is Liz Lambert who has a big presence in Austin with hotels she developed while her brother does restaurants. So she has good music connections.) Some of the bands I've seen at this festival are: Margo Price, Wilco, Courtney Barnett, St. Vincent (I think she is a friend of the owner and have seen her several times there), Orville Peck, Future Islands, Angel Olsen, Alex Bird, Paul Cauthen, Parquet Courts, Sleater-Kinney...so like I said, somewhat eclectic. 80% of the artists I've never heard before but I always walk away with a new discovery. Unrelated to the festival, my favorite bands I'll always make a point of seeing these days are Tame Impala (neo-psychedelia), Courtney Barnett (clever singer-songwriter; only one who has played at the Trans Pecos but I already liked her), Hatchie (dreampop), and for a rock entry I really think the Swedish band Ghost has something special going on. But last year when Marty and the band came onto the Trans-Pecos stage playing "Graveyard" and went on from there, I had to add another fave artist to my list. I tell everyone about him, (as well as the Trans-Pecos Festival for that matter). He's not playing here in LA this tour; closest is the Stagecoach Festival but that much modern country is not my scene. So I'm making the trip to see him in Tucson and Scottsdale in April, two nights in a row.
cant wait to hear marty bending that b bender guitar on a new album!!!! Marty just rocks!!! feel good tunes all the time!!!!
Wonderful and that Superlative sound is out of this world. The visualizer is perfect.
Great song made me feel good about life.
Saw these guys in Feb. Fantastic show, endless talent from all members.
The Tone of Clarence is just Awesome. Can't wait to see him and the band once or twice this summer!!!
That jingle jangle is a Rickenbacker 12 string! As in The Birds Mr Tambourine Man!
Only 1 verse in and love it. Those jangly guitars...who can resist?
Teli-town
Their show in Franklin NC , April 2022 included this song and yes the red Rickenbacker was in the spotlight..
Saw that show.....WOW.....bought Way Out West immediately. Wish I could find some players in Franklin to pck and play!
My 30 yr old son commented that it was the "best d..n show" he had ever seen.
@@billponder5182 its great seeing shows with our kids- college age on up! Turning them on to good music
somebody say hello.......Thank you very much and may God bless y'all ❤
Marty and his talented band are mining the history of ALL music and paying if forward with songs like this. God bless them for their musicianship, their willingness to have no boundaries in the music they listen to and learn from and apply to their own musical sensibilities.
Another 10 from Marty and the Boys! I don't know how they can top Way Out West, but this is a promising start!! The 12 string and amazing vintage sound gets me EVERY TIME!!
I love it! Everything about this is what I love about Marty and his music!
Does anyone besides me think Roger McGuinn might have influenced this beautiful tune?
I do
Just a little influence...
Yes - both the guitar and vocals are absolutely Byrd-ish. I mean that as very high praise. Saw McGuinn/Hillman two years ago and Marty the same year. THAT was a good year.
Marty mentioned in his newsletter that he wrote this he instantly heard Kenny playing a 12 string Rickenbacker, a Clarence White solo, and the Byrds harmonies…
Roger always had an influence on Marty and the band. After seeing Marty with Roger and Chris Hillman for the Sweethearts of the Rodeo tour it was obvious the influence was there
I saw Marty and his band live at the "Blue Hen Theater" in Dover, Delaware around late 80's early 90 time frame. From then on I believe I have every album Marty and his bands have published including gospel albums. I believe his best album to date is "The Pilgrim".
Marty has definitely stayed very loyal to "true" country music. What he has done and is doing to preserve "true" country must be recognized, celebrated and hopefully appreciated not only by the fans but by the music industry as a whole, all though I don't believe Marty plays music for the recognition - I believe he plays music because "music" is Marty.
A VERY INTERESTING SONG GREAT VOCALS & GUITAR....LOVE THE VISUALS & THE BAND...!
A good and deep song you can draw many meanings from. 👍🏼
I got to hear you play this last summer in VA, love the studio version!
Great stuff! Yay Roger McGuinn! Thanks!😎
Hi Marty and Superlatives, I've been waiting for more of this since Way Out West. Ty sooo much for more of that Beatley-Byrdsy Rickembacher guitar with a fabulous dreamy vocal on top. Wowee, fabulous again. Be playing it over and over as I always do with your tunes. Freakin' masters of sound at their best. Ty again. Blessings, peace and love.
Beautiful song men !! Harmonies are spot on , capturing every element perfectly God Bless MS & TFS ❤️🎸
Can't believe playing this bands Wilmington Delaware in April. Dream come true having a chance to see them live.
Absolutely love this song!! ❤️🎶❤️🎶
Marty has gone pinup crazy!
This whole album is an absolute masterpiece.
Superb!
Twas thinking about this album on my best country album of the year I heard it on digital with headphones. So I'm refreshing my self..
Think I'll buy the vinyl for Christmas 🤠👍
Wow, this is no ordinary band. I wonder what kind of words we could use to describe them?
Way out West got me through some tough times. Looking forward to this lp. The 12 string sounds great. Byrd's style
Nice! Byrds feeling to this song especially when Marty solos with Clarence White's guitar
Marty is a bona-fide badass

I'm a child of the 60's Marty. Great song. Sounds like a BeatleByrd!!!!!!Love it.
Mary, I purchased your new Album - Great Music!!.. 👍🏼
Amazing musician
Love the Clarence White style Guitar solo!
Marty playing this with Clarence's old guitar no doubt helps!
A Byrdsian love fest! No complaints here
I've loved Marty for 30 years. Ain't gonna stop now. Great job!!
This album is just a few inches from his album before this, I hope we can get back to some good rockin country on his next release, I love the variety he puts out but this is a brother to the last one
Way cool Summertime vibe! Great song to cruise with the windows down & the wind in my hair. Great job on the harmonies! 👍 Love the guitar work. 🎸

Marty & his band rock 🎸🎛
I forgot to tell you are my New Byrds also. God Bless. Great video!!!
Saw them in February Great show!
Cool lyrics and melody. That picking is really good.
FAB-U-LOUS........
What do you get when you take the opening melody to "Day Tripper" but use the music from "If I Needed Someone" both by the Beatles? You get this.
Great song Marty!
From Jeremiah Jordan
Colorado.
Guitars!!! Good tune.
Nice hook. Touches a lot of people and u.and the band are always right on target.
Wow, killer track with Beatles and Byrds vibes!
I believe this song started on a bright sunny day, but sunny days can be depressing sometimes, too bright to see the deep red roses, and your thinking, "I should be happy", but I'm not. Rainy days are filled with raindrops on the roof and thunder that make u happy to be dry and warm inside making love to a girl or your guitar. In this case, this song, I believe came to u as u were sitting alone and it started to rain pouring on the roof. The video is sub-conscious memories from your touring world, and when I listen in my right mood it blows me away. You are one of a kind now. So many have left us. I'm sure as long as u can walk, talk, play and sing, you will tour and write songs and entertain the world. I love your stories about my favorite, J. Cash, Willie and many others. You might consider writing a book of all those stories. I would buy it in a heart beat. Love your music. I listen to most everything new you put out. If u get bored and want to listen to a few new notes, and total Originals, Google "willie nelson Free soul" on a Rainey night in your "right" mood. God bless and keep those new songs coming.
Hey marty’ just keep listening over and over !! Another great tune by you and the band! Btw my name is Marty also lol!
Johnny would be so proud of you✨✨✨❤️
God Bless Marty and his entire party
Go ahead I'm listening....

Dang it you, Marty! Your efforts get me to thinking bout good things and how there is still a chance if we know what to look for. Thanks old son. Love ya, mean it. Oh yeah, tell Kenny I said hi ho silver! 😅
Very nice-homage to The Byrds and Roger McGuin’s chiming guitar?
Sentences never spoken before: "Time to drop acid and listen to Marty Stuart for a couple hours."
OMG...What I just heard is pure power pop! I'm looking forward to hearing it on Little Steven's Underground Garage on SirusXM.
Guys... Fantastic.... ("Inside baseball" question) Is that a Rick 12-string or an emulator... I'm hearing the 12 on the first four strings but not the A and E... Thanks.... GREAT song...
Possibly a Digitech Mosaic, but I doubt someone of Marty’s calibre wouldn’t play a genuine 12 string.
REM vibes
The tele guitars Marty/Kenny on steroid mode right here. Number 1 America's country band. No debate.
How do I get a couple of my songs to you Marty?
💚👍
Dear Marty, I can't seem to be able to order an "Altitude" t-shirt. Could you folks send me a link to order one Please? Thank you sir.
Hard to top ANY of Marty's past Material but this Does Definitely Surpass anything from his Fantastic Past. One of those Whole new Reinessance in his Career deals! Combination of Cuz on the 12 string Ricky and of course the Clarence!
Better than Beatles Rubber Soul!
When Willie, Waylon and a few more were in Texas just starting that image of the old guy with the bandana and Waylon with that cool baseline that varried but somehow stayed the same. The college crowd among many others saw this old guy was telling the truth in his songs. Even the covers belonged to him after a play or two. He found his image, he wrote great songs, sang distinctly, and you couldn't fool the kids then. They knew crap when they heard it and then they heard "cool". Then he took off like a comet. You are doing well but I think you could break out like a comet. There is a movement going on now for a return to grass roots country. The fans are loving the bootleg stuff so odds are they will love "new" bootleg sounding stuff. (Don't bootleg it of course) It's going slow but gaining momemtem. I can only see you moving up.
@Marty Stewart
Beautiful song.
I like your new tunes.
I remember buying the CD with "High on a Mountain Top" in the 90's and going to the highest mountain around in Virginia, opening that CD, blasting it and dancing around on that mountain in a red suede fringe jacket. Lol
Now, this song is nice but the visuals are so cringe.
Peep Oville Peck
Now y all sound like the Beatles a bit. If i could find some acid id be liable to to take it. 10-4
Early Beatles on mushrooms
I do not consider myself a Country music fan. In fact I do not like the direction Country music has taken as of late. Much gratitude and respect to Mr. Marty Stuart for his passion to his art and the genre. However, I don't hear a Country song here. I hear jangle rock and that is meant to be a compliment.
Sounds like a Beatles' song but without the harmonies.
Mushroom country music.
He’s gone backward with his sound. Disappointing
That's some good stuff Marty.
Byrds. Buffalo Springfield.
