Lol one of the things I’m so glad Tomino addressed with Gundam. Every transformation and docking it’s a risk they’ll be shot at. Amuro Rey even does some tests in the original MSG to speed up his dock time and notes the left side of the Gundam is especially vulnerable during docking.

After that is the MasterForce series where a human transector, which is basically an organic robot, became the "soul" of the Transformers. A guy named Ginrai is a transector and the truck he drove is basically an Optimus clone. He would later be able to merge with a Battle Bus called GodBomber to become God Ginrai. It was God Ginrai who became Victory Leo. The Star Saber series ia basically the continuation of the MasterForce series. If you notice, the pilot entered the robot by saying "Brain Set". That pilot is a human transector.

It's so true, RID reminds me a lot of the Brave series as well, They are both like bookends of the Brave series after all, timewise. Only thing Victory is lacking is a robot that turns into a Police car.
Star Saber and God Ginrai are the grand-fathers of Brave Robots. All with combinations and transformations. If not for them, Brave series wouldn't be in the first place.
They did in IMDb comic and while he look even cooler, he character is completely changed into a religious tyranical sealot, insted of the hero he is here
You could totally work this transformation scheme into an action scene with enough imagination. Like Optimus touching down in the street to clean house in Chicago, only Saber's getting bigger and stronger as he goes.

We got a main character leader robot with a super mode, who later on meets another robot who can combine with him to make a "Great" mode, a couple of combiner teams to assist, a police bot, and their kid mascot. The only thing that would make it more like a Brave show would be a Train Combiner, heheheh.
While tough, so glad that the HasLab Victory Saber toy is such fun to transform and actually be a playable toy (within reason and care, of course). And of course, the use of the theme beats you on the head that of the four JG1 theme songs, it's the coolest!

yep, this is one of the cartoons that gave in to the big MECHA-ERA ever since gundam in 1979. and was ofc influenced by the extended transformers/voltron saga in japan at least.
yeah, but what I'm saying is like a Masterpiece version that has a lot more articulation than the old ones. The old ones were practically bricks, but imagine a masterpiece version of this guy, with all three modes and he is able to transform with great poseability.

That robot isn't Optimus Prime, is Ginrai from Masterforce(the translation was poorly done) In Victory is rebuilt as Victory Leo and combines with Star Saber. I am the only who thinks that the opening theme of Victory is great? I even memorized the lyrics... Victory looks like the Yuusha shows in a bunch of things. Maybe it's the Brave show number zero, "Seigi no Yuusha StarSaber" XD

For those who don't know, it was a vote in japan for all these guys to be the next mp : fort max, Powermaster prime, star saber, dai atlas, optimus primal (season 1 bw), Lio convoy, Bigconvoy, Fire convoy (robots in disguise prime), armada prime, energon prime, and Cybertron(galaxy force) prime. star saber won. with armada prime as a close second. I would have loved to see the power pants actually have articulation imo.
Apparently Star Saber will get a Hasbro release, because there's a translator saying he's working on the bio for the toy. Interestingly, he also says that while the Takara version will use his Victory bio, the Hasbro version will use the IDW religious zealot version.

It is supposed to be a huge redeco of Generations Metroplex and it is supposed to be released on the 19th of February of 2016.

Star Saber has become one of my favorite Transformers characters, besides Optimus Prime, Megatron, Rodimus Prime, Optimus Primal, Dinobot, etc. There's just something so unique about him.

@TheR0flman Wow, you really need to do some research. Power Rangers is an English adaptation of an ongoing Japanese show that was before Voltron was around. Meaning, they took footage, mecha, suits, from it and made it into their own show. Read about Super Sentai.
one way you can tell the G1 transformers was made in japan is if you look at the humans, spike and sparkplug, spike looks almost exactly like amuro ray or camille bidan from gundam and zeta gundam, another robot anime produced around the same time as transformers G1...
@didjargo okay, it's not that complex, okay? the gimmick of that series was a small robot that functions as a vehicle's driver, the vehicle turns into a body and the small robot forms into the chest and face, that's all. and Star Saber, being the leader, got an upgrade module that he can combine with to make a bigger, more powerful robot, okay? I really wish people would stop acting like is so complicated.
The robot leader of the Rescue Patrol that is the best friend of the human boy turns into a police car. His name in japanese was Holi. So we have a police car too XD
