Also, Mr. Frekht if a person switches lawyers and the courts have to get involved. Is the case now a case within a case. For example, a personal injury case but you have to go to the courts to get the paper work from the *previous* lawyer??
No not at all. Once you hire the new lawyer the old lawyer has no authority so the new lawyer just takes over. If the old lawyer doesn’t turn the files over then the court will order them to do it but that rarely happens bc if they don’t cooperate that can mean they later won’t be entitled to any legal fee since they are ruining their own former client’s case. So usually it’s seamless
@skincareceo you don’t owe the original lawyer anything as a client. The two lawyers share the legal fee. So if you never switched one lawyer gets the entire legal fee. If you switch the same fee is shared among the two lawyers. Client always gets the client share which is usually the lions share 66.6 % of the recovery
