I love how every song seems to be literal and somehow “shallow” but the real meaning of it is always deep and profound. A true heritage of the beautiful land of Palestine. I just learned the term dawah. Indeed Nemahsis has shown the world some very humanist centered fundamental principles of Islam that I did not know about. Visibility and representation really matter. Love how dreamy and soft the song starts before the beat kicks in! Her singing compliments it perfectly. It makes me think its about aging and reminiscing about memories.
seeing the flowers rising from the concrete reminds me that through perseverance, life will continue, and just because it's all torn down now, doesn't mean it always will be. we will see a day that Palestine is rebuilt and beaming with life, without the occupation in its clutches. thank you for your beautiful music, and your reminder to stay strong.

I am not going to be able to find the words to properly comment on the slow, almost "sunrise" change that happened in me over the course of the song. The metaphor made itself known quite quickly... and yet at the same time, it took the entire song to feel ready to touch it? Not because it was something fragile, but that it was something precious, and sorrowful, and maybe even something that I hadn't quite earned the beauty of, but was being show anyway -- like a flickering light, sitting between clasped hands, toward which I was beckoned with a soft smile and a knowing wink. And when I peered between the fingers to see that which had been burning, I realized then that this light will burn for far longer than I, far longer than us, and far longer than any wind that raged against the hands that held it?
That's not a very good way of explaining the experience, but it's all I've got lol. The feeling is too soft and tender to subject to my attempts to dissect it in a comment ❤ But I am grateful for it -- the sorrow, the tenderness, and the light.
@avryantoinette this is by far more beautifully put than you know … sometimes we haven‘t quite earned the beauty of realizing fully the magic in someonelses body of work/ soul or expression, sometimes we have yet to realize our own - for they are all the same.
