- Welcome to Pacific Encounter. This is P&O Australia’s newest style of cruise ship, and the largest in its decades long history of cruising in Australia. As a Grand Class cruise ship, Pacific Encounter has a lot on offer. She’s over 109,000 gross tons, and has many decks to explore with multiple restaurants, show lounges, bars and on deck amenities that include the huge twin racer water slides!
Come with me aboard this fun filled ship and explore what makes the Pacific Encounter a real game changer in the Australian cruise market.

About this video:
I visited Pacific Encounter as a guest of P&O Cruises but was not paid to make this video. Pacific Encounter has already proven to be a popular addition to P&O Australia’s fleet, and I hope this little walk through of the ship gives you some idea why. Thanks so much for watching and I hope you found the video interesting. If you did, please don’t forget to subscribe and check out my other ship tours including Pacific Explorer, Norwegian Spirit, Coral Princess of Queen Mary 2. Thanks again for watching, and until next time I hope to ‘sea you on board.’
How did I get aboard:
A few weeks ago I was lucky to visit the Pacific Encounter in Brisbane. I was aboard in my capacity as a historian, and had been working with P&O Cruises on the launch of their 90th anniversary of cruising in Australia celebrations.
After all the effort that went into it, I’m pleased to say the event was a huge success, but once it was over, I had all day before my flight home was due to take off.
So I took the opportunity to grab my cameras and take a walk around the Pacific Encounter to photograph and film the entire ship!

Thanks to Michelle Bartolo for arranging the tour of the ship and providing the thumbnail picture.

Deck 13 - do you prefer it to be "skipped" or think it's all a bit silly in a modern world? 🤣
13 - 3 it’s actually deck 10 so 😂
IMO you can call it deck 14 but its still deck 13, very silly
there is no place for nonsense like that in a modern world.
@@cruises_only_thanks it is not nonsense it is tradition
The old girl looks great after the refurbishment. She was our first ship when she sailed for Princess
Hi Chris, this was a very enjoyable tour of this lovely ship. I've never actually been on a cruise ship but I love ship tours, especially on a very classy ship like this.
This was a magical tour. well done and thanks
Another great vedio with a grand tour and highlighting the ship.
Thanks so much David.
Terrific informative video - thanks
Did the pacific adventure tour 13 days to Fiji/French Polynesia pre covid. Booking another family one ex Brisbane to Papua new guinea 10 days this year 😂
This looks great, thanks for the video because I'm absolutely stunned with the lack of marketing for this ship on P&O's own website
She is very beautiful and the same class of ship as Pacific Adventure
This was brilliant
Well done mate. Very specific. We’re looking forward to the new boat!!!
Thanks 👍
Love the Captain Picard appearance haha
Thanks for this video, I do listen to the podcast. I have sailed on most Grand Class ships in the Princess fleet and do love the Skywalker Lounge ( Altitude). It's great to go up there in the mornings for a read until the masses discover it too.:) Was that formerly Grand Princess? The first of the fleet? Thanks Chris.
Thanks Chris. Is there outdoor dining at the Pantry?....Thats a non negotiable for us.
hey Chris, i recently just disembarked from the 12 night fiji adventure cruise onboard the pacific encounter, and while i was on there i bought your colouring book on the ships, it was a really nice way to pass the time onboard
Thanks so much Jamie! Was it being sold aboard the ship?
@@ChrisFrameOfficial yeah they had one copy left and I snatched it up, it’s been really interesting going through it an learning all about the different histories of each of the ships
Thank you for the kind words! So glad you enjoyed it.
Good job
Do you know how big the flying fox is to the grund
Does the casino have a craps table?
Nice 👌
I get the Explorer, Encounter and Adventure all mixed up......A lot of vowels at the start of the name and I have to google the ship. I have tasted many things in my day and very little gets me excited but the Creme Brulee with a hint of Wasabi in it in The Dragon Lady Resturaunt is to die for....I was thinking of The Coronation after Party and even they wouldn't get this.....Just a lot of cucumber sandwiches......I must admit that my family celebrated The Coronation in Australia with home made English scones and tea.....The one amazing food that originated in England......scones.
Scones! Yum! Quite a few of my Aussie mates like freshly baked bread with jam and cream which I guess is a variant on scones! Not sure if that’s a thing in the UK or not.
Thanks for your great video Chris. The ship looks better than ever. We are looking forward to getting back on-board next week and checking out the new amenities and refit.🛥
Oooh I hope you have a fantastic trip. Let us know your thoughts!
Hi Chris. Certainly will do on both counts.
This ship looks so fantastic. Will look into booking a cruise soon. 😊
Sounds like a great idea!
had a cruise on this ship a couppe months back and ive realised that i just barely missed the refit 😔😔
Thank you Chris for showing the ship , I live close to it and perhaps some day I will take
a cruise TGA Australia silliness still is requiring you to be vaxxed. I jest checked no let
up from this madness. I still enjoy the history and looking at the ships.
2 months later we still have to be jabbed, insanity. Even the WHO are saying the pandemic is over yet Australia is one of the last countries on earth with this stupid requirement.
They got rid of the Vax requirements!!
did not hear you say that karaoke was on board
dark blue slides faster btw. personal experience
Knocks P&O UK's Ventura into a cocked hat.
How to apply in a work here
Gteat video, i have also made a video of the Whitsunday Cruise with my family on my channel
This used to be a Princess ship didn’t it?
It was Star Princess in its previous life.
@@ChrisFrameOfficial that's what I thought. My parents sailed on her a number of times.
Rooms?
Has there vegetarian food available chris??
I saw several vegetarian options on P&O during my trips. The waiters are also very good at asking about dietary requirements so be sure to tell them.
I am for no deck 13
Yeah, I dont understand the superstition with not naming a floor #13, hotels do the same.
I don't think superstition has a place in the modern world.
I don't really like the big mirrors on the cabin walls and while the inside of the ship looks quite nice, I think the outer design is quite ugly compared to ships like Cunard and Holland America.
Yeah I’d agree that the Grand Class isn’t the prettiest on the outside, but seeing the ship in person I was quite impressed by how well her exterior design holds up after all these years.
Sorry but your tour is too full of pluses with no minuses so cannot accept it as a genuine review
Thanks for the comment. You’re spot on the video is a tour - as noted in the title and thumbnail - not a review 👍
I went on this ship 🛳️ I would of never liked the titanic
