- Emu's going through his box of treasures with Rod, the Pink Windmill Kids are planning to hold a concert amongst themselves, and Grotbags has her dear little nephew coming to stay - and one way or another, all three of these elements collide into a coherent, sometimes-funny, sometimes-melancholy storyline. This episode was originally broadcast on Friday, 6th April, 1984.
I'm sure there's no need to tell you that the part of Nauseous is of course played by Joe "To You" Greco - one of very few occasions that a Pink Windmill Kids was given a full-blown character role on the show. And very good he is too! He's got perfectly bad manners, is selfish, greedy, technologically a snob, and gets what was very much coming to him after committing the cardinal sin of bending over near the flour bins at 13:44. Pity he only visited once.
The songs in this one are On the Sunny Side of the Street (written by Jimmy McHugh and Dorothy Fields back in the 30s, featured in Lew Leslie's International Revue, but owing a lot to the 1979 Savoy disco version) and Rod's rendition of Five Pennies (from the Danny Kaye film The Five Pennies). I don't know what Abbie's made of, but her splits at 7:01 suggest mostly elastic.
Just to be absolutely clear, the very beginning was missing, so I've edited on the opening titles from elsewhere, and the end credits were cut off, so they come from the final episode of the series. We may never know if Joe was properly credited...
Many thanks to Jayne for lending me this tape.

It's amazing how that ending gave me more "feels", than any multimillion Hollywood blockbuster has ever done!!! Nice one Croc.
joe looks like the hulk as a kid, Guess the hulk is going to visit the pink windmill
Nauseous reminds me of the 8 year old Grinch from the Jim Carrey film.
3:53 when he ate the food it made me so hungry
Think I can count on one hand how many times you see both of Rod's hands throughout the years.
aaaah croc is so nice.
The kid who played grotbags nethew is actually Joe XD
ik XD HAHA
HE'S SO CUUUUTE
Interesting theory. Ever seen Joe and Nauseous in the same room? Don't think so.
@@lucasmckinley8087 Joe who
Hugh and Anthony swap sweater
They should’ve brought Nauseous back for the Grotbags show
He’s actually kind of a funny character to me lmao I don’t hate him
Aww, the ending is really sweet!
You're right - I love how they didn't feel they always had to go for the big laugh for an ending. :-)
Yeah it left a smile on my face 🙂
Feel bad for poor croc
Anyone notice how Anthony showed up only for half a number then never appeared in the episode after.
That's amazingly observant of you - I never would have noticed that in a million years! It looks like Anthony missed a day of studio filming, but was there for the location shoot.
I've noticed that Kate did that a lot as well. In this particular episode she appears in the very beginning of the number and then doesn't show up again. The same happens in the can you feel it number from series 4
+randomvids360 Yes, good spot. Kate's completely absent from the Songs routine in this series, for instance, and only appears in Joy to the World right at the very end when they're at the door to the Pink Windmill. Where Anthony missed a studio day, it looks like Kate missed a location shoot.
Guessing it's down to the amount of hours kids are/were allowed to work?
You know, Deborah’s missing for some numbers as well. She shows up at the start of an episode or number (like in Songs or Sunny Side) and then doesn’t appear again. In her case, I’ve spotted her in all the episodes in S4 and S5, it’s just some of the songs she’s absent from.
I bet also, this would be Joe's big chance to show off his acting skills in his could be big break.
He's a natural! very talented boy
She want a emu and her nephew get him for her 🧙
I half expected Lorraine to drag Rod off the stage with a curve-ended stick when he was booed. Those kids were rude though - he allowed them inside his windmill, and they were horrible. Real brats!
Yep - as much as I've always loved them, there are times when I start to see that Grotbags really may have had a point!
When?

Kelly's reaction is so cute here at 07:19
Nice
3:49 yeet
Nauseous's bazazza' is a bit wobbly
The prop department probably blew their entire budget on that, too... :-)
7:00 Is that Abbey at the front
Yep. That is Abbie.
Joe was a fantastic actor back then, and really *had* me hating on Nauseous as a kid despite the character appearing in a single episode (mind you, I still kind of hate him). I wonder why he didn't continue on with acting work after the 90s...
I also wish Joe had carried on, but he got into puppetry and then decided to work on the technical side of TV (which he'd always been interested in). He's now back working in the puppet world, though. :-)
Was the Abbie jumping into the splits? 😱
The last one around 7 minutes? Yeah, that's Abbie. I don't know what she's made out of, but at no point in my life would me doing that not have ended up in hospital.
@@VideotapeFTW must be made of elastic or rubber. Come to think of it....I've never see Abbie and Elastigirl (The Incredibles) in the same room st the same time. Has anyone? Haha
Thanks for uploading all these. I'm having a great time reliving my youth.
@@rhig4081 Haha - I was thinking more of Tigger. "Their tops are made out of rubber, their bottoms are made out of springs."
Glad you're enjoying the uploads - I hope the happy memories are flooding back!
@@VideotapeFTW hahaha, could be!
And yes....I'm being overwhelmed by memories.
Do The Pink Windmill Kids have a designated leader (Besides Rod) Emu's World seems to go back and forth between Lorraine and Emma-Louise being Rod's right hand kid, while the All-Live Shows seem to give the impression that Catrina and Joe are the highest ranking kids, after they left, it seems that Kelly appears to be the head kid.
I don't think it was anything official. In this sequence, for instance, it's Tammy who's very much in charge: ruclips.net/video/mWLjs4U7eXY/видео.html
But earlier the same series it was Kelly at the forefront: ruclips.net/video/JOY_gIyWjZc/видео.html
Emma Louise should have been put in a kennel.
it's camper than Larry Graysons jumper.
Not like that, like this... (5:09)
