    I love how Dave pretends to know nothing about racing and asks intentionally dumb questions, but I especially love the fact that Dave knows a lot about racing, is passionate about F1 and the Indy 500, and used to own an Indy Car team.

      Russell Coight regardless, you don't have oval tracks in Formula 1. For him to even suggest it, is laughable. If he truly did want to show people how much he knew about racing, he should really have intimated that that was a joke. Not serious.

    One of my favourite races of all time was Adelaide 1986, the last race of the season and three contenders for the World Drivers' Championship, Mansell and Piquet for Williams and Prost in the McLaren. Nige was the favourite, only had to finish 3rd or above and the Williams was easily the fastest machine that year. He was in 3rd place on Lap 64 and doing about 180mph when his tyre pretty much exploded. And Prost went on to be the first back to back champion since 1960.
    Nigel got his eventually, in '92. And when he went to Indy, Michael Andretti went to F1. Nigel came 3rd at the Indy 500 and won the Indy championship. Michael...well, the less said about his short time in Formula One, the better. He blamed McLaren, McLaren blamed him, the truth is in the middle somewhere.

    • @chrisl8873
      @chrisl8873 5 лет назад +4

      According to Nige the clerk of the course told him that instead of saving the car and parking safely, he'd "crashed" instead they'd have stopped the race because it had gone the minimum distance. Nige would then have been world champion

    • @fistoftulkas7335
      @fistoftulkas7335 2 года назад

      Yep, 1986 was a great season. The best of that era won a title with an inferior car, wich is quite a feat in F1.
      Mansell surely threw away few championships, sometimes for his faults.

    • @theant9821
      @theant9821 Год назад

      @@fistoftulkas7335 86 wasnt his fault, prost was lucky, mansells tyre fell apart, and williams pitted piquet for new tyres just in case, leaving prost to take the title.
      If it hadn't been for the tyres prost would have been 3rd in the championship.

      @@robbiddlecombe8392 the population of a country won't give an indication of how many might end up in any sport. Finland produce great drivers and they do well in f1. England produce amazing drivers and dominants formula 1. Because the country has a clear path to the grid with every level moving up from go carting primed to make extremely skillful drivers. Americans also don't have that pull to f1 much like they don't with many other international sports. America doesn't tend to do well on the sporting international stage (apart from the Olympics) because they tend to play sports against themselves such as American football, baseball and basketball. We tend to forget that Sarah Jessica Parker isn't that young anymore. This show was the end of 1992, and he was talking about having sjp on the show. That was 27 years ago. And at that time, she was already an experienced film actress, of 27 years of age.
    In 6 years, she will be 60 years old. Can't imagine Carrie, as a 60 year old lady.

    Nigel Mansell was a great driver but can only be dominant when he had the ultimate F1 car. When he drove for Lotus he struggled to even come close to Elios De Angeles

    • @N75911_

    • @mrorangepeel659
      @mrorangepeel659 4 года назад +18

      Even though he was a rookie at that point... I recall races where Mansell had come from the back of the pack and then overtook De Angeles. Mansell only lost the title in 1986 due an exploding tyre, and then in 1987 due to breaking his back at 130R when he had the upper hand on Piquet. Yet another title was lost in 1991 due only to his car’s unreliability. He has won from 14th on the grid in a Ferrari that was inferior to the McLaren Honda, and taken a seriously under powered Williams Judd to 2nd in the rain. You are talking complete nonsense - he is right up there with Senna and Prost who also only ever won with a dominant car. In 1993 he had both the F1 and Indycar titles and was by some margin the best driver on the planet.

      Bashir Hayek He only drove 3 races in 1980... and his speed and pace went up considerably from 1985 onwards, beating Rosberg, and then Piquet in the same car. He was also able to beat Prost in the same equipment in 1990, and he was overcome the dominant McLaren Honda’s many times. Truly one of the greats. ruclips.net/video/GdobwlFRCFM/видео.html
