    Stinging Nettle - Urtica Dioica
    Stinging nettle is an edible and medicinal plant that is loaded with vitamins and minerals. It can sting the skin and leave painful blisters and should usually be cooked prior to eating. Eating just the tip of stinging nettle seems to be mostly fine to me although I do occasionally get a little sting!
    Edible Uses for Stinging Nettle
    Stinging nettle can be cooked like spinach and also put into other dishes also similarly to how you might use spinach.
    Medicinal Uses for Stinging Nettle
    One medicinal use for stinging nettle is related to allergies. Consuming local stinging nettle at the beginning of allergy season is thought to help reduce allergy symptoms.
    Please consume wild plants at your own risk! Consult multiple reliable sources before consuming any wild plants! This video is for information and entertainment only!

    Cooked, they are delicious. So fresh and alive-tasting. There is a recipe from a Greek island (probably from more than one) using nettle, fresh dill, maybe some cheese wrapped in a thin crépe-type dough and sautéd in olive oil. Just thinking of them makes my mouth water...

    If you wanna eat them raw without fear of being stung just firmly mush them between your thumbs and fingers, once they're a wet crushed lump, the stings have been destroyed so munch away.

    Question do these have a smell to them? Me and my friends tried crossing this canal a week ago in a city not in the forest it was man made idk the proper name for them honestly… anyways it has a little steam of water and we tried crossing it as a shortcut but there where these plants growing all around it along with tall grass and what we didn’t know was that these plants where gonna give us hell… we ended up being strung and I ended up having an asthma attack from this plant… I just wanted to know since I can’t find any consistent answers on google… is this plant fragrant? We think it’s this plant that gave us hell but we don’t know exactly if it was this plant but we remember the plant being fragrant.
    This happened in central California btw.

      @OkanaganGardenerandForager  10 месяцев назад

      It's hard for me to describe what I think it smells like. I think it smells very green or like chlorophyll. I notice a smell of fresh plants kinda like fresh cut grass. I personally wouldn't describe it as very fragrant though.
