    WOW NICE ROOT!
*Stinging nettle is not alternate. is opposite and pairs. VERY HAIRY leaves and the stem. definitely stinging hard especially the mature leaves.
the stinging nettle stings bad. wood a bit and has alternate leaves and very little hair.
*** the poisonous plant white snakeroot- is called ageratina altissima-, also known as richweed or white sanicle, is a poisonous herb that resembles wood nettle with opposite leaves also in pairs (like on stinging nettle), but it does not have any stings. it blooms in with white flowers on top in late summer to fall..
the plant is poisonous to people, horses, goats, and sheep and toxic to cows but released with milk so it can kill a human or anything that drinks the milk with the tremetol toxin.
THIS WAS VERY UNCLEAR IN THE VIDEO., however great channel.:)
FUN FACT: STINGING NETTLE HAIR RINSE SLIGHTLY DARKENS THE HAIR OVER TIME.

Excellent presentation and explanations of how to use this great alterative and nutritional plant. One thing which was overlooked, was the root of the plant. (I don't recommend going out and digging a bunch of root material, but, after you clip the top parts, they are easy enough to dig a nice fat shovel-ful of roots... and put them into a container, to take home and plant, in the sunny corner of your garden. They like really fertile soil, and a nice moist soil Here in New Mexico, I cover them with shade cloth on hoops, in order to cut the sunlight that can burn them (normally, they're in the woods). Okay, so the roots are an amazing yellow color, and will reproduce rapidly, (along with the tops), when cared for... in a regular, good way. The roots are used to make a fresh plant extract (1:2 strength), using pure, 95^% edible ethanol (such as everclear. or some similar brand. The finished extract of the root... (shaken EVERY day for 2 weeks, and left to extract further, for another 2 weeks, unless it is needed immediately. A number of herbal combinations with the nettle root are possible, and useful for congested prostate conditions BPH I prefer something like 2 or 3 parts Saw Palmetto fresh berry extract, with 2 parts Nettle root, and 1 part Turmeric, and 1 part fresh Ginger root. MEN: It IS worth the time, and your prostate will thank you .

I've not seen the one you call woods nettle here in England. We have wood nettles, which are very similar to the stinging nettles you show, and stinging nettles, which are very much coarser and darker coloured. Often with a purple tinge. More sting than nettle on those. I find the wood nettles have a good, bright flavour if eaten raw, crushed. Not nice cooked. The others are excellent cooked, either on their own, or with young leaf stems of common hogweed.

I'm buying a very high Mountain Home in the northwest. Up against the building was a plant that looked somewhere between a nettle but each Leaf reminded me a little bit of a fat marijuana leaf. Those still singular and very fat I thought it was a stinging nettle that had been to down by the deer and then came up bushier it was blooming because it was late fall. I touched it it didn't sting me I was very surprised. It had branch is going every which way and it had those very recognizable flowers that Nettles have. It didn't have a smell to it I didn't taste it because I was surprised it didn't sting me and I knew that there were non stinging nettles but I didn't think that they would grow bushy. This wasn't a round Bush it was just branches going every which way next to the porch. It was a gorgeous Singulair plant coming up. This place has been empty for a very long time but somebody came and live there in the summer for 3 months and did a lot of messing it up. I was disappointed to see how many thistles were growing. They're beautiful I love them in pictures I love them on t-shirts. I love them for woodsy magic but I don't love walking barefoot on them and I'm a Barefoot person. And this is my dream house that I plan on living the rest of my life and dying on so I'm very curious what this plant could be just picture a nettle on a plant that's branching out all different directions with the flowers but the leaf is just a little bit skinnier and I did a double-take because they grow a lot of marijuana up there or they did in the old days. I want to be as self-sufficient as possible and I have learned to grow legumes that normally grow in the south and have a very good batch of seed from each kind of being that I got to grow to the drying point. To make sure that I have enough proteins of course I'll buy some things when I'm in town but I won't be in town very often and I won't have a lot of money so I'm going to have to depend on my garden and the woods for food and it's only 20 acres and I don't want to take down a lot of trees I just want my Sunny spots growing as much food as possible. So I'll be growing things that can be kept and a root cellar and then drying Nettles and things like that. I do that in the city. I've looked for this planet in Google and in a plant book but couldn't find it. I'm also curious about the weed that grows on the ground that is in the nightshade family the leaves remind me a little bit of eggplant leaves yet it's crawling on the ground and then at the end it gets a little tiny pea-sized cherry tomato type fruit. If I'm not mistaken they turn a dark purple. Does anybody remember what these are and I'm pretty sure they're poison I got it in a cut in my thumb and it was pretty sore but I also got stuck with a sisal pretty deep enough to bleed. Anyway this shrub was so beautiful and just so green and Lush it looked very edible. The people who had it way back who are growing the marijuana had a huge Garden and there's some Gorgeous Flowers that I wish I would have thrown in a pot and put under the house so that I have some left after the thaw because I'm bringing goats in as fast as I possibly can. Just for the Garden area the cleanup the thistles they were 15 ft high and so stuck together that you had to go around them. I think they're going to be harder to get rid of then you're I just forgot the name of the herb the one with the blue flowers it's late and I'm tired. That's incredible I'm going to come back and change this. LOL how frustrating. Thank you very much and I hope that I can get lamb's-quarter to grow up there there isn't any one part of the property slopes down so I'm going to make a garden that is like a stairway and my idea is to plant some larger fruit trees at the bottom stairs are one of the bottom stairs so that I can pick the fruit from up above. It's the Sunny Side of the property so I have to pick well because it's a very specific environment there. I have a five-year plan on how it's going to go so wish me luck and wisdom. And loss of energy! thank you for what you do and I'll be watching more videos even though I've seen these they mean more to me now. Before the only access I had to Wild Foods people started spraying in while there is in the city who on Earth takes out the plants underneath Evergreen trees? they actually came in with a mower and mowed the ferns down and all of the Wild edibles like huckleberries. Then the toxic Ivy just took over. all that does is let the trees get eaten up by Beatles and that was the other thing that I'm excited about is the elderberries are blue up there and I've only lived down low in this state where the red so I was so excited to see the blue elderberries although I didn't get any this year. And there is a poison oak ivy something it doesn't really matter which one it is I saw in the driveway and I didn't know we had that in this state either but it was the most gorgeous red because it was turning the fall so whatever it is it has high sugar in it I don't know if I'm bothered by it I've never been exposed I didn't know we had it. thank you for everything and I'll probably be trying to ask you questions but I don't know if you answer things on here. I didn't mean to make this this long but I do make very long talks. But mostly I was curious about the first plant I talked about which was this incredibly Lush skinnier than a nettle but still very fat leaves that didn't sting that didn't have an odor when I rolled it there was no odor I squished it in my fingers. I wish I could send you a picture but I didn't take one that was kind of dumb I really should have filmed the whole trip there but that's another story thank you for these films. Right when I think I know what I'm talking about I get uncomfortable like with the mushrooms that I think I know I start wondering I'm questioning myself so I do need to get together with people that can make me be more confident a book just doesn't do it

there are some who think the root is useless or low in nutrition. Plants that are perennial store energy, meaning nutrition, in the roots to facilitate plant growth in the spring. My curiosity then is about the criticism against the roots and the time of their harvesting. How late in the fall should a person wait to harvest st. nettle roots in the fall? It seems the fall clusters are green until hard frosts or freeze has entered for the season of winter. Obviously harvesting roots/rhizomes terminates a spring growth pattern. Could a person harvest the bulk of the rhizome in the late fall/early winter, replant the budding nodules to ensure the spring growth cycle or is the energy stored in the rhizome more crucial to the spring growth cycle? Perhaps leaving about 1/2 or 1/3 of the rhizome?? Drying the rhizome has to have some nutritional benefit for us poor sod busters.

I’m older & disabled in an apartment with no yard, so I bought some stinging nettle capsules. Been taking a few weeks and think it’s helping my inflammation (from arthritis). Any thoughts on taking capsules versus fresh?

(Since nobody answered) you need food amounts for nourishment (which aids in health). Get yourself a bulk package of crushed leaf. Amazon, Mountain Rose Herbs, Frontier, all companies that sell it for about 20$/pound. You make an infusion with it (different than tea). One ounce by weight, in a quart mason jar. Fill with boiled water. Let sit 4-12 hours on counter with lid on it. Strain and drink 1-5 times a week. I drink a whole quart in one day. You can add a pinch of peppermint for taste. If regular tea is all you feel comfortable with, it's ok too. But those capsules won't do much. Also, don't but tinctures either, again, not enough nutrients obtained there. The infusions are cheapest but you could also get a nettle vinegar (nettle is soaked in vinegar for 4-6 weeks, strained) and you take it by the spoonful daily. That you can find on etsy.

I know I'm a nobody and you are asking him, but if you feel a difference, listen to your body and keep doing capsules.

@@RunninUpThatHillh - Hello, and thanks for your reply…was asking anyone “out there” :-) I’ve purchased the nettle capsules from Mountain Rose Herbs 🌿and believe they help. But on your advice I’ll be ordering some of the nettle loose leaf tea and brew it to drink. I drink chamomile 🌼tea throughout the afternoon & evening- after I tank up on coffee in the morning lol.
I’m also thinking of buying their nettle seeds and planting some on the apartment complex property, & hope they don’t get mowed 😆
Wishing you a lovely weekend 🌱💕
