London 4K - Rich Neighborhood Drive

- Tuesday morning drive in the affluent West London neighborhood of Notting Hill. Video starts in Kensington along High Street and continues through Notting Hill, passing many of the large Victorian townhouses, and along the popular tourist attraction of Portobello Road.
Notting Hill is an affluent district in West London, located north of Kensington within the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea. Notting Hill is known for being a cosmopolitan and multicultural neighbourhood, hosting the annual Notting Hill Carnival and Portobello Road Market.
From around 1870, Notting Hill had an association with artists.
In the early 21st century, after decades of gentrification, Notting Hill has a reputation as an affluent and fashionable area known for attractive terraces of large Victorian townhouses and high-end shopping and restaurants (particularly around Westbourne Grove and Clarendon Cross). A Daily Telegraph article in 2004 used the phrase "the Notting Hill Set" to refer to a group of emerging Conservative politicians, such as David Cameron and George Osborne, who would become respectively Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Exchequer and were once based in Notting Hill.
Portobello Road runs almost the entire length of Notting Hill from north to south. It runs parallel to Ladbroke Grove. It contains Portobello Road Market, one of London's best known markets, containing an antique section and second-hand, fruit and veg and clothing stalls. The road was originally a lane leading to Portobello Farm in the north of Notting Hill.
Notting Hill Carnival is an annual event in August, over two days (Sunday and the following bank holiday). It has continuously taken place since 1965. It is led by members of the Caribbean population, many of whom have lived in the area since the 1950s. The carnival has attracted up to 1.5 million people in the past, putting it among the largest street festivals in Europe.
Notting Hill is also the setting of the films The Knack …and How to Get It (1965), Performance (1970) featuring Mick Jagger, Lava (2001), and Paddington (2014). Notting Hill also serves as the locale for the 1999 romantic comedy Notting Hill, starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant.

Thanks for watching,

Mexico cities: Mexico city, Monterrey, Guadalajara,Tijuana, Mexicali.
Thanks Ronald! I'll add them to the list!
South africa cities when
@john I've got a list of larger African cities I'd like to do at some point. Thanks for requesting!
Modesto CA and Santa Barbara CA please!
I really appreciate that you post these "as is".
No background music added -- you just hear the sounds of the engine and other ambient sounds.
Posted at actual speed, not at 2x or higher.
No "cuts" at red lights or other things that might be viewed as "boring".
We can skip forward or play at 2x if we want that. But I like seeing them as they actually are.
I've seen a lot of comments for and against the traffic lights. Leaving them in feels like the best option as the viewer has more options to skip or watch. I'm looking heavily into and now filming again in 360 video. As the hardware to film and view improves, this completely solves this issue! Thanks for commenting :)
Brent Hooton : totally agree. I want an experience that is as close as possible too driving their myself. This is one of the nicest parts of London, but this kind of videos make it unnecessary to visit areas that are too far away, too time consuming, too expensive or too dangerous to visit. Nowadays you can learn quiet a lot about a place by watching some videos without going there yourself. That is real progress.
If you want to look at 2x you can speed it up
This is so weirdly calming and lovely to watch while sorting my desk!
No matter where you live in London, it ain’t cheap. London is BIG and expensive
Like most of all European cities...
In all European cities we got ghettos too
@@guillermo9312 just don’t. Ghettos. Unless it’s Nordic
This brings back so many amazing memories of walking these streets. Thanks
I was born and raised in Notting Hill and now live on the outskirts. Interesting to see the changes to the area since the mid 60's.
I am pretty sure these videos will be in museum archives in 100 years. Thanks for the high-quality, calming video btw!
Very satisfying. I love London. very relaxing. no background music. I loved it! terrific job. please do the same for Oxford.
This brings back so many amazing memories of walking these streets. Thanks so much for posting!
Thank you for the great walk!! I would like to see more of London. I love London!))
I live nearby this place. I have my own 2 bedroom house here in West Kensington. I always go pass by Nottinghill. Usually i do my shopping in Westfield Shepherds Bush.
I personally never been to London but I feel like i'm there by watching this clip lol.. nice work and much respect !!
My dream city! I have been planning to move to central London when I get big that’s my plan. Since I was small I always had this obsession with this city. Nice city definitely will move here when I grow up.
London is my happiness
When I'm in that traffic, it feels hectic, but it seems almost serene for you. Good driviving.
Thank you for this video I never been to London. Now I think its time to take a trip.
Please do a Night Drive! Love from Chicago.
Working on a number of night drive videos now! Subscribe for updates :)

It was nice to have this on one of my monitors while I am working from home. Thank you!
London is a very cozy city
As an American the driving on the opposite side of the streets is really messing with my head.
We in uk have same problem when we go to mainland europe driving on the other side.but l guess we do it quite often so you get used to it pretty soon
It’s shouldn’t really, it’s a natural adjustment as the driving position is reversed as well. I’ve driven extensively in the U.K. and US, with only one mishap (wrong side of road in US early in the morning, cop coming the other way).
Murcielago SV gives me stress
If it messes with your head that much something is wrong with you.
Fnord Fnordington lol
Thank you so much for this video. It was calming but so poignant as it reminded me of my time in London and the U.K. maybe Belgravia next and Great Malvern. The cotswolds
"sheep enclosure in rolling hillsides" per google. Great! I am looking to make a list of scenic countryside in the UK and Ireland. Let me know if you have more suggestions! and thanks again!
Brings back memories of my childhood days walking with friends from Bayswater up to Kensington high Street. There was a drive through Portobello. Fantastic! Leading to Bayswater, then towards Kensington...
A arquitetura de Londres é surpreendente, é única. 🏤🏰🏫
This is great. London is such a pretty city and you really see a lot of it in this drive. Thanks for sharing. -Henry
INEXSPECTATUS word
@INEXSPECTATUS Getting wetted?
Crime is way more higher in London
Depends which part of London you live in, my friend. I live right on the edge in the, predominantly, White Suburbs and after 36 years of being here I STILL do not have a lock on my back door or lock my (old) car in the street....@ @@ukisbeggar8462
Ferruzzicati Mayor’s making it worse though, unfortunately.
wow! this is wonderful! Really appreciate it! Really gives a sense of the place and I appreciate no soundtrack! Maybe you could add a caption when you pass some special sites --- like a park or a palace --- it's still wonderful!
I stayed in Kensington last year..I saw you passed the hotel where we stayed! 😊😊
I think more posh is in Richmond, Knigstbridge, Chelsea.
A O Kensington also. Just like in the US, look for where the Whole Foods are at 😉

Great video lovely to see some of those streets again haven’t been round for a long time younger days when I was courting are used to spend a lot of time in Notting Hill gate and the restaurants are used to live very near Portobello Road
London is the best city
I love it. So relaxing!

As an Indonesian, I feel so accustomed with your driving on the left. Nice work! 👍
When I was 18 I used to mix jack Daniels in bottle of coke and take it with me on the buses to unknown destinations drinking and enjoying view of London:) London at night is lovely no cities can be compare to London at night
Nice to see you back...

I wish I could travel as much as you do..
At least I can experience a small part of your travels

Miss London
This is awesome! I grew up in Kensington and spent most of my childhood around the neighborhoods in this video. I currently no longer live in the UK but miss it very much at times. Thank you for posting; it brought back tons of amazing memories and made my day!

I would love to visit London one day, beautiful city.
Nostalgia.... The London daysssss😍
You have excellent driving skills.
Nice video the earlier portion of the video you are driving through Holland Park - Notting Hill is north of Holland Park Avenue.
washington and london probrably the most beautiful cities i have seen in these videos
do not forget paris
reminded me how broke i am
I Would travel around these london areas to get back and forth from school, with free bus rides (which is free for all london kids under 18) and I didn't think much of it.
But now I've been away from london for 2-3 years now and I miss the serenity it gave me.
Can't wait to finish Med school and hopefully work in London, I'll live there for the rest of my life if i have to.
Beautiful driving 🚗video my friend, thanks for sharing 👍. Your videos are well recorded and high quality. Recently I have recorded some I interesting🛵🛵scooter riding videos of Delhi. 🙏😊🇮🇳
All these videos are really good
Glad you like the videos John! :)
This is an amazing video as all your others were. I would like to see you go further away from the main streets to the back ones where there are no buses or bus stops. That is where you’ll see beautiful grand terraces of the affluent. Also go to Lagos, Accra and other African countries as well
At 2.01, the street the white van is turning into is Kensington Palace Gardens. Part of The Crown Estate, this street has some of the most expensive properties in the world. Current residents include Roman Abramovich,Lakshmi Mittal and Leonard Blavatnik. Some properties exceed £100m. Both ends of the street have armed police officers as well as private security. You are allowed to walk the street but do not take photographs, if you do expect to be challenged.
Merci beaucoup pour la visite ...
how is he capturing his audio so clearly? is his dash cam in the outside? I can't even see any indication that his dash cam is behind the windshield. just curious. I want 2 start recording scenic drive
You hot a couple pf bad roads , mussed out Holland Park itself , where Beckam ,valentino , Richard Branson and a whole host of royalty live . Missed out my street!!!!! Ha ha and also just swerved moments from Ed Sheeran's house. Over all good , but id do the time lapse at traffic ligjts and speed those bits up. So nice to have the engline sound . Nothing more repetitive than those videos with awgul music bluring out. Good job .
Some of the lanes are incredibly narrow, but managed to squeeze in a full double way traffic.
@JUtah Can you do a Lisbon daytime drive please?. I'm from Portugal but live in London, By the way nice video I recognize all the streets and roads in the video, I love London!❤🇬🇧 and you sir you've earned yourself a subscriber! 🙂👏👏👏👏... By the way thank you for respecting and following all the London road laws and rules and regulations !🙂
👏👏👏 Very nice. Thanks for watching. Greetings from Izmir-TURKEY 👋
2.38. On the left at Kensington High Street is one of the most stunning examples of Art Deco architecture in London; the huge Barkers department store building with its sweeping canopy and soaring decorated towers. The Daily Mail occupies much of the interior now with its fantastic lifts which are themselves works of art. It really deserves as much appreciation as the Hoover Building or any of the city' tours trap traditional sights, many of which are far less impressive in reality.
On top of this building are Kensington Roof Gardens and open door Nightclub
Great city, so much to do.
I like it!Nice video,J Utah.❤💖👍💎
Most intriguingly interesting...
J Utah,Please take more videos on London.👍
In February 2016 my younger daughter and I stayed at the London House Hotel, at 81 Kensington Gardens Square, Bayswater. I think I've recognised Kensington Gardens Square on minute 0:10 and the entrance to Kensington Gardens on minute 0:30... Am I wrong?
In any event, thank you so very much for this beautiful Video, J Utah, I love London beyond words !!!
Brings memories of my youth. Used to live around here. It was affordable!
May I ask you what equipments you used for these video? Go pro or some other camera?

Thanks for letting me know Aidan! :)
I feel like I'm really travelling through London. Suppressed to get a clear view of peoples number plates.
Beautiful area of London ❤️
Would be nice if you record Amsterdam.
Hi, liked your Video, liked in fact that you were able to drive thru other parts of London, that are not seen, visited before - like what you put up in description up there. Your Video was Very Good, Great. Was wondering if you could do Sydney, Melbourne & Perth, Australia and also Auckland, New Zealand by any chance if you have time and also to use new Camera equipment that you mentioned you were going to be using when you film your Drive thrus? Thank You. Cheers.
I’ve always wanted to go to London, thanks for the video...

Lots of storage space
and all mod cons.
It's going at three hundred and twenty pounds a week....."
Trainspotting? Been a long time since I've watch that. I'll have to watch it again!
Amazing vidéo 👌😃
Im from France and i never been to England.
Thank you for this video. Unfortunately I have not seen a place where I would like to live.
Hi, may I know what kind of camera are you using? How do you stable the camera in order to film such a good video.
Madness. The traffic so close to homes.
I live in Sydney Australia but like London is like one of them places I always wanted to live in I really don’t know why
The green hut at the side of the road at 0.53 is a rest stop and place to eat for London's black cab drivers. 'If you ain't a cabbie, you ain't comin in'. ( My best Cockney!) Dating back from the late 19th Century, of the original 60 (I stand corrected) or so, around 13 remain. The last remaining huts are now Grade II listed, meaning they are considered buildings of special interest. Non black cab drivers (especially Uber drivers!!!!) aren’t allowed to sit inside - unless issued with a rare invitation - but can order take away tea and sandwiches through a hatch..
they are called cabmans shelter's and yes you can use them if you're not a cabbie
That a smooth car driving
Sir, nice video. Pls mention the streets while travelling
Thanks.😍😍
best parts of london all in one video
How do you get 8k that’s amazing .. nice video as always.. brings back memories

Thanks for requesting! Working on finalizing the 360 camera system for the 8K model and potentially an 11K model. Also continuing to work on improvements to the night camera system! Once these are complete, I should be back in Europe for an extended trip :)
@@jutah It would be nice if you could do Zurich or Bern :)

The white mansions on either side of the road is a beauty. However, vehicle parking on the roads is a bit of a let down. Would have been nice, had the houses had independent parking area for their vehicles.
You are right about the parking. Driving isn't so bad. Its the parking :)
Morning Drive so good lol
Thanks namia! :)

Hello! I looove watching your videos. Can you please do a night drive video, in Las Vegas?.. Thank you so much and lots of love!...

The best way to watch these videos is at 2 times the speed while you’re doped 💨👌🏻
whilst drink driving and texting.
I want that British style house 🇬🇧🏠🇬🇧
Very nice. Makes me feel like I'm actually there with you. Too many zig zag lines on the pavement over there, though. I think I would find all of that a bit distracting while I was driving. Thanks for sharing!
Johnny Buck - Lol, what you refer to as 'the pavememt' is 'the road' to us- the 'side walk' as you know it, is 'the pavement' to us.
@@Summerbunny15 LOL! We might have different terms for the same things, but it's ok. As for the road, all of those lines look ridiculous! What do the zig zag lines mean or what are they there for?
Johnny Buck - Sorry for my late reply but I didn't get a notification of your response at the time and only just noticed it after I got notification that someone like my comment)- anyway, zig zag lines are found just before and after what we call zebra (or pedestrian) crossings- vehicles are not allowed to park on them or to overtake the vehicle ahead on zig zag lines to prevent blocking the view of approaching traffic- they are also found near schools to make the area safer for children to cross the road (so there is a logic to our appparent madness 😊)- As a local I'm used to them, but having seen similar vlogs of driving around some American cities, I can see why it would be distracting for you, as British roads tend to have more artwork in comparison.
3:08 this is Kensington & Chelsea one of the richest places in London where places start at a cool £ 3:5 million
the entire video is set within London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea!
Utter nonsense.
Wonderful trip through my old home lands .. I used to live 10 mins from Ladbroke Grove in Mary Place just down the road. From Grenfell ... I was there years. Know all the roads you travelled. Also along Ken High St, know that well, and Holland Park on the right. Up to Holland Park Avenue, used that tube station soooooooo many times .... Was always travelling round there walking, down to Shepherds Bush and the market ... My parents got married in Kensington Register Office, they then had a flat in Royal Crescent at the bottom of Holland Park Avenue just before and during the WWII, I was born in St Mary's in Paddington ... Know that area also ... Know lots and lots of parts of London, N, S, E, W ....... I loved to travel around, it's changed a lot in some places, other places not at all ...
So, insider lady, grab your Apple and you post the next tour with love from your old haunts!
This is beautiful
Beautiful streets.
Fabuleux voyage au coeur de Londres excellent et terrible et instructif superbe ville
Are you ever gonna do a driving video in an italian city, like milan or rome?
At some point! Soon I hope. I want to finalize the rigging system for the current 360 camera before I go. I really see 360 video as being an important part of this channel. There seems to be so much potential with this tech. Especially a number of new stand alone headsets like the Oculus Quest are releasing this year. Any thoughts? Let me know!
@@jutah that would be really cool to see on a vr headset, gives it a much more immersive feel
I recently tried the Oculus Go. Based on what I read, it shows content at 5.2K quality and it is incredibly immersive! So the current headsets can't fully display the content that I'm filming with at 8K. I think this tech is about to take off! Im excited to get the new Quest now.
@@jutah realistically, i dont think many people will actually see the video in 8k, most people use phone headsets anyway, so even if you start with a lower resolution, the result will still be good
Great Video. Thank you
love love love it!
Im your fan,J Utah👍👍👍👍👍
You need to say where you are passing through. Some of the roads are recognisable because of the buses, such the 52, which goes from Victoria to Notting Hill, Bayswater, London W11 and W2 near my old school. You passed by Portobello Road. It would be more interesting if you gave information on the areas being passed through: Kensington, Knightsbridge, Chelsea, etc
Very beautiful city, from Mauritius.
