Wow the three teenager were so young back then they sure have come a long way I watch them grow up and grow up together. Now Gerry and Dewey are both 71 years old and been together for 53 years and counting
If this was filmed in November 1970, Dan would have just turned 20, Dewey was 18 (19 the following January) and Gerry was also 18 (having not long had a birthday in September). It's great to see them looking so young with everything still before them - thanks for posting.
Its easy to forget how young they were when they started ! Gerry was only just 18 , very accomplished for their ages . And what a great band they turned into ❤ aIways loved them , still do
it sure really surprised me when I met Gerry and Dewey at a 2009 America concert I had the most stunned look on my face that you could imagine with my mouth hanging open and my eyes big and round I was bug eyed I can tell you that
Tell me about it. I was at a concert, they took a break. I went up to Gerry, asked him to sign their latest CD that I had brought with me. He did so kindly, surprised that I already had it. He asked me my name, I said Jakki Jordan. He said Jackie Gordon? I was a TOTAL goner, could only nod in the affirmative! HA! I had forgotten how to speak English and didn’t have the words to correct him. Just could NOT believe I was actually this close to these guys who I started listening to when I was 11!
I wasn't even born when this was filmed but I clearly remembered when my father introduced us (my sisters) their songs and from then on I was stuck with their music and forever be a fan Thanks for posting! I really love this band so much ❤❤❤😍
Was this ever put on a record? I assume this is a Vietnam War protest song. I've never heard it before. What talented young musicians. Still stand the test of time.
I really like that part of your comment "everything still before them". That impacts and relates so much to not only these musicians but all artists and us as well. I remember that feeling of destiny and possibilities of the future when I was young. At what point do we only look back? Very sad when you can't feel that way anymore. I once aspired to be a musician myself, but I got side-tracked. Better to be young and not know where you're headed than to be too old and know where you "could have".
Los inicios de esta gran banda, mi banda preferida, por cierto. Tan jovencitos; hace ya casi 50 años de este video. Ojalá puedas subir más videos como éste. Saludos desde México.
Wow! I had never seen this before I've heard a snatch of this song as a demo on an America complation album just not the entire song on a video clip thank you for sharing this rare song
so if this clip was filmed on November 17 1970 Dan Peek looks like he's a teenager of 16 or 17 years old because I'll guess he must've had his birthday on November 1st 1970 long before this music TV show video was recorded for television
Gerry and Dewey look like they are 15 and 16 year old teenagers in the video clip of this song if I'm doing my math right so if Gerry Beckley's birthday was on September 12th 1970 he could have been about maybe I think 17 years old and if Dewey's birthday was January 19th 1970 he might have been 18 or about 19 years old then I'm quite sure
I disagree. Once Dan left the band, some of the songwriting magic and chemistry simply disappeared. Their first seven albums were absolutely stellar, after which Gerry & Dewey had several hits - most of which were penned by others. View From The Ground was also a fine album. They never really changed their musical direction - content with playing easy-listening acoustic-based rock. Nothing wrong with that as their loyal fans will attest. The Eagles in my view are the best band to come out of the USA, yet they spent the last thirty years playing the same classic songs with only one new album in that entire time. If that's what the fans want to hear, then why not - whether we like it or not. And for what it's worth, America are firmly entrenched in my top five American bands along with Chicago, Steely Dan and Creedence.
Dewey Bunnell looks a little like Charles Manson in the 60s. I mean no disrespect but I've never seen dewey Bunnell this young. I'm used to seeing him look like Jesus like on the America History Album cover. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
So rare, like the fragrance of blossoms fair, sweet as a breath of air, so rare. What a treasure for fans of America. Thank q

Totally agree with you.

I've never heard this song, thanks for shearing
WOW America so Truly Young gorgeous Dewey bunnell Gerry Buckley an beautiful Dan peek! OH LOVE YOU BEAUTIFUL AMERICA!!
Great video ❤
I love this video. Sure glad I found it. The very early days of PeeK, Beckley, and Bunnell. Back when they were young, hungry, and enthusiastic.
Danny Comer were they homeless?
you know what would be fun and cool America the band should make a 40th Aniversery DVD with video clips like this from their 1970 early days
Great archive of the band America!
From a French tv show🎉
Amazing. In this video, they are 20, 18 and 18 years old. Just the beginnings of something incredible.
Great, rare footage. Dan Peek plays an Italian E-Ros 12 strings guitar.
Wow !!!! Americaaa !!! 🇧🇷❤
tahnk you for this look at the band very early on. Dan peek is the yoda of the band
it sure really surprised me when I met Gerry and Dewey at a 2009 America concert I had the most stunned look on my face that you could imagine with my mouth hanging open and my eyes big and round I was bug eyed I can tell you that
I hope you got a photo with them!! I think I would have passed out!!!

Los comienzos del gran grupo AMÉRICA
Los chicos más lindos de los 70ssss👻🎸🌠🌅👏👏👏👏👏
Meu Deus que lindo !! Impossível viver sem America. Amo Dewey, amo Gerry, amo Dan( Rip). God bless America. Love from Brazil. ❤🇧🇷❤
Wow! I just came across this one accidentally. Thanks a lot for posting.
Oldest America's VDO I've ever seen! Thank you for sharing
Aren't they wonderful? :)
Flipping heck! Thank you! I've never seen this and I thought I'd seen everything to do with America - Thank you so much!
the stage lighting makes Dan Peeks Dewey Bunnell's and Gerry Beckley's hair look redish gold which is actually really lovely and pretty
I wasn't even born when this was filmed but I clearly remembered when my father introduced us (my sisters) their songs and from then on I was stuck with their music and forever be a fan Thanks for posting! I really love this band so much ❤❤❤😍

This is a very true gem!, thanks for posting!

I was foretold. Lol, as a James Holladay I approve this song. Love playing it when I'm drunk. Annoys my wife, but she's just jealous.
I like America and I know most of their songs never heard this one before ever
Have you heard their new stuff?
Gratificante, ver al trío en sus comienzos, jóvenes e inspirados.
The three of them r america not one not two but three.america was great from 1970 to 1977.
Still great today.
I agree totally with what you say.
At 0:30 Dan Peek !! At 2:04 my Gerry At 2:20 Lee Bunnell. OMG !!!!!! 🇧🇷❤
Big thanks, Jason

Bro, every time I try to search up my RUclips channel I want to find Australian James Holliday not American
Wow! I had never seen this before I've heard a snatch of this song as a demo on an America complation album just not the entire song on a video clip thank you for sharing this rare song
this a rareity I really love this
Post some more of this.
This is so good. Shoulda been on first record. But it shows how talented they were so young.
and it's really cool that we both have birthdays right next to each other Dewey Bunnell and Me
Wow.
do you have any more clips of America the band from the early 1970's
Eat yer hearts out, CSN and sometimes Y!
Wow it's so cool that Dewey is a January baby like me
This clip is from a French tv show

This is America the real Band...
Not 2 or like today one..
When Dan left America in 1977 America was over
so now I wonder how old Dewey was when I was a new baby
Gerry and Dewey look like they are 15 and 16 year old teenagers in the video clip of this song if I'm doing my math right so if Gerry Beckley's birthday was on September 12th 1970 he could have been about maybe I think 17 years old and if Dewey's birthday was January 19th 1970 he might have been 18 or about 19 years old then I'm quite sure
because all three of them Dan Gerry and Dewey are 1950's babies and I'm a 1980's baby
you know I wonder if Dewey Bunnell had his beard grow out later for the music ladin TV show sessions in 1975
This is the ONLY America track I KNOW of NOT on one of their albums.
If these guys didn’t think business and dollars they could’ve remained amazing artists as they were when they started out.
