The 70s music will put you on another planet that no one will understand unless you have a love of the 70s music. You don't need drugs or alcohol to appreciate the best music ever. God....take me back to the 70s and leave me there....I'll be just fine.
The 70's summarized: No cell phones, no Facebook, no need for everything instantly. Just a slower life, people hanging out and enjoying each others company....and simple, yet outstanding music. Groups like America bringing people together with their magic!!! Dan walked away, Gerry and Dewey (thank god) kept it going for the sake of us all. Their music takes me back to a much simpler and underappreciated time, but their music lives on forever After he heard me listening to America one day, my 15 year old neighbor now has this song as well as "A horse with no name" on his favorites and can sing both songs spot on!!! No offense to Taylor Swift, Pitbull or Bruno Mars, but IMO the 70's specialized in music from the depths of your soul.
🎼 Dan Peek became a Christian ✝️ not long after this. Rewrote this song and sang it on his "Electrovoice" solo album. GOD bless Dan's family & friends 🎵 .
This is one of my favorite DAN PEEK songs by AMERICA. I also like how he plays the harmonica and 12-string guitar at the same time. Why couldn't GERRY, DEWEY, & DAN reunit occasionally for a few concerts before he died?
The split was amicable. This part of Dan's life became a drug-infested nightmare. He became totally void inside. Then one day at his oceanside home in Cali he fell on his knees and gave his life totally to Christ. Maybe a reunion just wasn't something he needed in his life. He had found his EVERYTHING in Christ.
Wayne if you haven’t seen Dans interview about how he was led to Christ, you should watch it. It’s just a fantastic interview. Can’t recall the title.....something like Dan Peeks testimony to Christ. Maybe not those exact words but it’s just a great interview.
Yes!! I recently saw an interview where he said all he wanted was to become famous with a band but he said that after they achieved all of the fame..... he realized that it wasn’t for him. I sure miss him. He was my favorite of the group.
Yes, before they became famous Peek promised God that if he did achieve fame, thar he'd use it to glorify God. By his own account it took a good number of years to quit the band and fulfill his promise to God.
America is one of those bands with a unique sound- you know its them when you hear one of their songs. I am so thankful that I had a Mom who has such a wide appreciation of all kinds of music!
Lonely people by l America 70's musical group. I love the part that says "Don't give up until you drink from the Silver Cup and Ride that highway in the Sky"
I know you got clicky-clackied by youtube, and that you are aware this is Dan's song. Want to also mention that this beautiful and spiritual song was written when Dan Peek was at the worst of his struggles with drug addiction and the rock-star lifestyle. A time in his life that Dan later scorned. Yet still, at that time, his heart yearned for more. This is by far my favorite America song. Used to make me cry. Thanks for posting it, streetworm!

+saladfork8 No - all things pass; I know it sounds trite , but true. I lost my mate of over 34 years a month ago . @@richolmsted4876 you nailed it! like a herd, most people listened to critics. in many was America was better than Eagles. It's the only band with which Georges Martin worked so long after the Beatles. They didn't have a guitar hero like Eagles with Joe Walsh but as a trio their voices & harmonies were more beautiful
That's because the lights hurt the eyes of dan (as you know the lights usually are high in all the stage like in a theater) and in 1974 was the year when dan had a strong drugs adiction and means that Dan possible had the eyes more weak to the strong lights.

Exactly…
Me, too!!!!!
Makes me so glad I grew up in the 70's
I was a kid when this song came out. I love it. When life was simple.
Ditto was 16 and still in HS. Life was very simple then!
This were great times. I'll never forget them.
RIP Dan. You were great with America and your solo christian music was great.

Bruno doesn't touch any seventies. Greatest Era ever. Singers, just can't be redublicated
The late great Dan Peek! Brilliant, sad song about loneliness.
👏🏻🎸😎
Voz linda e aveludada. Muito talento para um jovem cantor na época

Very beautiful song and very true
This session with America is PERFECTION! I have this cd and it is awesome. What talent and they (Gerry, Dewey, Dan) are just beautiful!
America remains #1 in my heart. R.I.P., Dan.

For such a sad title, this sounds like a happy, upbeat song.
Thanks for posting this. I'm learning how to play this song. I didn't know Dan used a 12 string or capo.
Timeless Legends!!!!
Hermosa canción 😊😊
Beatiful music, live América

Great song... 😘 💕
Beautiful !
I only wish they would have recorded/released the Live at Central Park dvd in 1977 instead of 1979. That way Dan Peek would have been in it!
Amazing!! 👏👏👏👏👏
Bueniissiissiimaass Rolas del Recuerdo! que no hay quien las iguale.
this is Amazing haven't seen this video clip before or seen Dan Peek wear sunglasses Cool!!! ;)
Greatest among the greatest...
loved them

Great recordxx
The song of my life. Nothing more...
I love tris song too much.
So many wonderful memories, thankyou
No one can rock sunglasses like he can!

Remember when
Dan singing & Gerry on piano.

SLYSPYHIWAY90 probably an oncoming train
lonely but not alone
Dan is singing lead and playing harmonica
And playing lead guitar. He had some mad musical skills.
Dan @ the peak ( no pun intended) of his drug addiction still writing some of the best America had to offer.
I really like this performance. They are rare. I like Dan's remake better as far as the actual song goes with the added harminica at the end.
únicas en su genero!!
You are most correct. Dan co-wrote with his wife.
Dan Peek😪
If only drinking from a silver cup could keep you young
Sin comentarios, delicioso.

rip dan
People just want to make a connection and live a little. Isn't too much to ask. So, why are there so many lonely people?
No Way....Dan is defenitly on lead vocal
i'm a newbie and tone deaf somewhat. so i ask if he's tuned to D and then has capo on second fret?
Is that Calvin "Fuzzy" Samuels on bass?
What is this? Hijacked off an old VHS?
why are these guys not better known (like say the Eagles)?
The critics decided early on that they didn't like America. The eagles could do wrong with the critics. America is far superior.
@@richolmsted4876 you nailed it! like a herd, most people listened to critics. in many was America was better than Eagles. @@malikba8048 yep, Dan Peek was their closest to a guitar hero but they were always more of an equal trio.
Great son but the Ovation Guitars sound so tinny!
Why he wore sunglasses that night?,,i still don't understand that,,Dan RIP

+Rick Bruni He could have just been high and didn't want people to see it in his eyes or he may have just been playing the role of cool rock star.
Major doper
Dan Peek was a drug addict.
why did he always play with a capo?
His voice is in a higher key.
I like the Christian version
Neil Young shouldve covered this. Its him
It's not too difficult to see that Dan Peek had definitely gained some weight at this time in the band.
Dan was a bloated drug addict.
And that's how bulky a hunchbacked 12 string
El Profesor Daniel Franco Jr Escutia para Presidente de Morelia Michoacán México oh El Profesor Daniel Franco Jr Escutia para Presidente de Cuitzeo Del Porvenir Michoacán México el Pueblo Mágico and to be with my family members de Los Retiros and to get my wishes
Everybody thinks this is CSN
Gerry was hot.
Oh my goodness, yes. He was yummy.
He almost married a guy .
Beautiful song; too bad the guy is so stoned he's wearing shades in a dark room😥
Great song, terrible sound quality
Granny
Live just sounds bad,,,,,johny cash sounded great live,
Bad video recording, any other live recording of them is better than studio.
Dan was super cool.
Great❤
