I've never cried on SNL before, but that one got me because it was so heartfelt. Anyone that's lost a great friend wants them remembered, and to pay tribute, so it was beautiful to see someone get the chance to do that for their friend
You can tell he thrives on SNL, not only did was he in some of the prime days of the show but this monologue genuinely made me laugh. Most don't do it for me, and many skits don't really get me going but Adam Sandler genuinely was getting me to laugh in just his monologue
@@favrerules04 I believe you just aged yourself. Don't sleep on the 70's or 80's cast. Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, Gilda Radner, Bulushi, Eddie Murphy, Dan Akyrod, Billy Crystal, Bill Murray, etc etc.
Anni C agreed. I started off laughing but once that happened, and Chris rock said his piece, thinking about the greats that I used to watch as a kid, it’s a surprisingly good riff about not letting failure slow you down, and even the biggest of us have had lows and got let go from situations we liked. I loved this, and I’m not a huge Sandler fan, but this came from somewhere real.
Comeback to what? Good comedy? I loved this monologue, but as Adam said his movies have made 4 billion. He's definitely not returning to his roots, hosting SNL is a one off.
@@SoaringTrumpet It might take another 20 years for him to come back. I go back to the 80s with SNL. I was in 8H talking to Chris Rock in his first show. I wonder what the story was for him to host? Certainly wasn't the money. Maybe nostalgia?
I like that movie with Drew Barrymore where she can't remember the previous day. And she Drew him in her dreams as an egg head which meant he had become a part of her subconscious.

Adam Sandler's one of the very best SNL cast members, in the history of the show. His monologue was pretty hilarious. Great to see Chris Rock, as well. 'Opera-man' on Weekend Update killed it!

I cannot express how happy this episode made me. He brought back so many great memories. He’s so hilarious and talented. We need more episodes like this
Agreed. One of my favorite all time What If scenarios is "What if Sandler stayed for the 1995 season?" I don't think it woulda been as bad as a lot of people think it could have been. In reality while NBC hated him and wanted him gone they didn't really fire him per se, he decided to go to make sure everyone kept their jobs. They were gonna either cancel the show if Farley, Sandler, and a majority of the cast didn't leave or replace everyone including Lorne. Adam told him instead he's go as he had 2 movies coming up that next year. Adam mentioned that in one of the SNL books. He loved the show and didn't wanna go in 95, Farley did but not Sandler he finally got to do what he wanted to do and loved doing it. He helped carry the 1994/95 season. A 1995 with Sandler season woulda been miles different for sure. One of 1994's biggest issues was there quite simply too many people. You had Kevin Nealon who had been there for close to 10 years and was burned out, you had Jeannine Garaffalo who started drama all during her run and made it all toxic, and you had people like Jay Mohr who didn't do anything. A good majority of them would be gone: only see Sandler, Meadows, McDonald, McKinney, and Molly Shannon staying. I think Ferrell still woulda made it but there wouldn't have been Jim Brewer more than likely, and possibly not Chris Kattan which is a +. I think 1995 woulda went well regardless. Sandler woulda been his 90's self still but he woulda had better actors and writers to work with. ? is how long would he have stayed? I say at least 1 or 2 more seasons. It woulda been amazing for sure; completely different show but way more fun.
Ehh I agree on the writing, it was rough that year but Farley and Spade were too worried about Hollywood to make an effort. Both of them going wasn't a major loss they checked out way earlier than everyone else. I've seen the whole season a few times; Sandler did WAY more on most shows than Farley did especially the first 4 or 5. Sandler, Chris Elliott, McKean, Shannon near the end, and Norm were about the only things they could rely on that year. Even Mike Myers was annoying at point; no big loss when he left either. I enjoy that year in terms of being awful it's a guilty pleasure and I'd rather watch them over Ferrell's run any day they are just more fun. but I spend most of it wishing they coulda pulled it together they all deserved a better last run. Sandler especially as he put a lot of effort in that year.
Most people get fired from SNL. I don't think getting fired from this show is really getting fired, I think they just try to keep moving new faces in. SNL doesn't seem like a show for established comedians, it feels like a training ground for up and comers and the when someone is established that's when they "fire" them.
@@johnwayne2103 I'd say Sandler looks pretty damn good for nearly 53. (I always thought he and I were the exact same age, but he's 3 years my senior.) Chris Rock will probably never look old.

When I was 14, I was "in love" with Adam Sandler. I used to say one day I would marry him. I had his movies all over my room. Had all his cd's. Anybody who knew me, knew I was obsessed with the guy. I still have a folder full of pics, articles, drawings, etc that my family used to give me. When I was got older, I realized, I'm not a hopeful kid anymore. We all made jokes about Adam Sandler’s career. But when you see him back onstage you realize how great he was. His energy was contagious man
u talk like he's dead or something
It's funny bc with Adam Sandler it feels like his entire career was a series of side quests
Loved the end song dedicated to his pal Chris Farley
Carlos Dominguez It made me teary eyed.
I've never cried on SNL before, but that one got me because it was so heartfelt. Anyone that's lost a great friend wants them remembered, and to pay tribute, so it was beautiful to see someone get the chance to do that for their friend
He does it in his Netflix Special too - just youtube Adam Sandler Chris Farley song.
he did it in a netflix special about 8 months ago
he rhymed live and alive 😒
You can tell he thrives on SNL, not only did was he in some of the prime days of the show but this monologue genuinely made me laugh. Most don't do it for me, and many skits don't really get me going but Adam Sandler genuinely was getting me to laugh in just his monologue
Sometimes I forget how many great comedic stars SNL produced.
The 90's cast was phenomenal. They put out a ton of good movies
U mean how many great comics produced SNL.
And Adam is not one of them

That Chris Rock showing up was a nice touch.

cindy Jenkins that was the funniest part of the whole song!!! 🤣🤣🤣
cindy Jenkins BEST part lol
Chris Farley will always live in our hearts. I got so sentimental with Adam's tribute to him. 😢😢😢😢
Adam Sandler is the best friend anyone can ever have.

I'm convinced Sandler wrote this...way more creative than any writer SNL has had in a while...
One of the best performances for any comedian to ever start a major comeback story. Adam definitely deserved to returned on the show
Mike Meyers' hosting monologue was pretty awesome
Now he needs to stop making shit Netflix movies.
"I made Billions on Box Office So I Guess You Could Say I WON!!!"
Though I don't really Like His Movies. But He was Brutal and he Really Gave to NBC.
Brutal?
I like that movie with Drew Barrymore where she can't remember the previous day. And she Drew him in her dreams as an egg head which meant he had become a part of her subconscious.
The classics are good. Mr.Deeds, waterboy, billy madison, happy gilmore, anger management, 50 first dates, i even like click and zohan was so dumb it was funny. After that it went to shit.

That is how desperate CBS is to get people to pay for their All Access that nobody wants... They're trolling for views on an NBC video.

Adam Sandler's one of the very best SNL cast members, in the history of the show. His monologue was pretty hilarious. Great to see Chris Rock, as well. 'Opera-man' on Weekend Update killed it!
@markmac Totally agree. And it's crazy how it was considered the dark ages of snl cause the ratings was horrible
Ppl love to hate this show, smh. Makes no sense... But hey, comedy is subjective

For my money, this was the best episode from a returning cast member ever. And it won the Emmy!❤
I cannot express how happy this episode made me. He brought back so many great memories. He’s so hilarious and talented. We need more episodes like this
We could’ve had Will Ferrell and Adam Sandler interact with each other. Damn you, NBC!
F. N. Lorter still waiting for the day that happens!!! Great show nonetheless
Will Ferrell sucks more than Adam Sandler. Fuck off.
@@efan2012 The writing had gone to shit in '95. Even Farley and Spade couldn't save it. The end.
NBC executive should have been fired for letting Adam and Chris go!
he ended up doing them a favor. They were ready to leave the nest.
@@mhughet yes. I agree
Same for Conan, he was ready to leave the nest... well, "big chin" pushed him out of the nest ! But he's fine now
I think ur right lol but maybe their lawsuits out weighed what they were making from them in a monetary sense.
Most people get fired from SNL. I don't think getting fired from this show is really getting fired, I think they just try to keep moving new faces in. SNL doesn't seem like a show for established comedians, it feels like a training ground for up and comers and the when someone is established that's when they "fire" them.
Adam Sandler is so down to earth. He’s not stuck up at all. He’s just a genuine guy and so very talented. Always liked him and his work
Omg Chris Rock doesn’t age a bit. Adam Sandler is looking not bad either.
What a great cameo!
For awhile he was looking bad. I don't know if he was sick. But he was looking like Pookie for awhile. Then he started gaining weight.
I was thinking that Adam Sandler looked tired and worn out. His energy was very "nervous" or something.

Seriously! Even his small part in "Billy Madison" was funny as the "Bus Driver". NO YELLING ON THE BUS!!!
Why are you putting people's names in quotes?
When I was 14, I was "in love" with Adam Sandler. I used to say one day I would marry him. I had his movies all over my room. Had all his cd's. Anybody who knew me, knew I was obsessed with the guy. I still have a folder full of pics, articles, drawings, etc that my family used to give me.
When I was got older, I realized, I'm not a hopeful kid anymore. The man is happily married and living his best life. I'm 40 now, and still a huge fan. In fact, my son and I just watched grown ups 1 & 2 last week. He still cracks me up. I wish him continued success and a long happy marriage.
