A doubt sir. It's mentioned that female gametophyte is retained in the parent sporophyte. And the embryo(new sporophyte) grow inside the gametophyte.
That makes it seem like new sporophyte develop from old sporophyte without going to land

Just have one doubt. In ncert it's mentioned that "the female gametophyte is retained on sporophyte". But the gametophyte (prothallus) and sporophyte are not attached together . So how the female gametophyte is retained on sporophyte ? . Btw really liked your your animation and explanation. 😊

I’m confused , what does the spore forms into after it detach from sporangia ..pro thallus or sporophyte directly

pteridophytes do not have stems, they have underground rhizome, from which roots are formed, what we see, is a compound leaf , we call it pinna in case of pteridophyte..and what you said stem is actually stipe, or you may say rachis in cases... and individual leaves are called pinnule in case of pteridophytes
