For those interested, this is the Rivoli here in Toronto. I was in school in London Ontario at the time, deep in the rave scene, but I remember the buzz the band had at the time. I remember hearing they played a small club called Call The Office. Lots of people I knew went and came out like they had just witnessed a religious experience. I remember hearing about how hard, and with how much passion the band played. Their energy certainly had a massive impact on whoever saw them during this time. Admittedly, I didn't catch on for a few more years to how anthemic and uplifting their music was. Wish I had have seen them then.
I saw them a couple times around that time, when Win's voice was immaculate. Words can't describe what their shows were like. First time I saw them in a very small church I think. I felt like I had gone to a religious rave or some shit.
After watching all these old shows I noticed that they used to play way harder. It's like they were trying to prove to the world how good they were. I miss that energy, hopefully they bring it back even though they're getting older. Remind the world who you guys are.
Admittedly, I didn't really get into anything post-Suburbs, but We was absolutely everything I hoped for. Bands very rarely return to form after a couple of shit records, but they damn well have done

When you're playing on a stage that small you've got to play hard to get anywhere.
They did it on snl last night. Lightning part 2. Had this energy.

They literally had the explosive fire in their act
i wonder what it must be like, to go to a small gig by an unknown band, and to hear such obviously instant classic caliber music
