The Last of Us is an example of how the production was so accurate because the game itself was amazing and they added a little bit more of a flair with the aesthetics!! It has a Walking Dead vibe to it and I hope the show keeps running to wherever the games stop at!!

Great analysis. My problem with the show was that the CGI was really glaring in several shots/scenes :( I think they could have put a bit more effort in those, especially episode 1, as the pilot sets the tone. I feel they've spent most of their budget on Pedro Pascal (which I don't find the perfect casting) and shilling magazines for positive reviews and continuous exposure. Mags like Gamespot have trodden the spam threshold reposting the same articles over and over, trying to convince how "episode 3 is the best episode in television" (🙄)

I feel like such works benefit from harsher shadows, more muted colors and more prominent soundscape to achieve a more engaging atmosphere
However, I'm torn because I can't deny that their approach is still unique and interesting. Like, a "boring apocalypses" where everything looks and feels like our mundane daily lives? I'll watch that

The game is a masterpiece of art. The producers stuck to the original source material and only made minor changes to suit the developent of the story on the new media. And they only added new stuff that, again, suited the new media and served to expand the original material without changing it.
So, the lesson is: good original material doesn't need to be bucthered by egotistical producers who feel the need to "leave their mark" when adapting it to a new media. Just stick to the source material!
