    Will is an amazing teacher. He has a special gift for explaining things so that you can understand them. Instead is saying "it just is", he explains a lot as to why something is how it is. I've spent countless hours with many teachers who all have something good, but Will is the best I've seen at explaining guitar and music theory. Keep up the good work!!!

    Thank you, Guillaume. I’ve been picking up bits and pieces of this knowledge all my life on guitar and a little keyboard. But in three of your videos I have gained a deeper understanding and appreciation of what’s going on in music/sounds in general and the fretboard specifically. Sitting through your lengthy explanation of notes and intervals shored up the foundation on which can now be built a much bigger and robust structure. Hadn’t realized how much I needed that. Thank you for your well-thought out series.

    Absolutely brilliant- I have been playing for 40 years and now decided to start trying theory again. I find your videos extremely helpful… I wish you could have taught me when I first started!! Thanks so much!!

    Some people are teachers by nature not just profession. They have the patience, the compassion on TOP of the skill. They WANT to share the knowledge they worked for. Others can play but they don’t have the connection or empathy to communicate basic or advanced concepts with others . It’s just not in them. They can never quite forgive others for not having their God-given talent. Will is a good player and teacher. Just keep listening to him and you’ll get better and better. Thanks Will.

    I don't know how you're doing it, but I understand you. All your videos, every second is clear to me. I think it's because of your technical background, not a strict school-based musical education. I bought your first book yesterday and today I'm buying the second one. Merci beaucoup! 😊

    Thank you! So right about using visual and kinesthetic learning vs sequential. It wasn’t getting me to see and feel my way around the notes quickly! Only picked up guitar 15 months ago and was focused on chords and playing songs/strumming. Ready to learn more of the fretboard. Will give this a go. 🙏🏻

    I want to say thank you Will, you are the best teacher ever, suddenly music theory doesn't sound so daunting if you are the one teaching it. I have to add the fact that I think you are extremely underrated, but I sure hope your channel will reach alot of people. You have earned a new subscriber!
    I have started learning guitar one year ago but I was only learning little parts of songs, but now I want to dive deep into music theory as I know it will boost my understanding of the guitar immensly, please don't stop making these videos as I'm sure you will reach a big number of subscribers and a wide audience at some point.

    Another gem of a video. As an 'intermediate' player, i understand and know most of the concepts you explain on some level, but its extremely helpful to go back and get a concise explanation of these concepts to improve my understanding and become more aware of what actually happens when playing guitar. And so far you have delivered that and more on every video of yours I watched. Super helpful, thanks!

    Will, your videos are the best path to understanding what is a complicated subject I've ever found. Your explanations and delivery made it easy to follow and digest. I'm in my 60s and have been making guitar noises for more than 5 decades, and since finding your channel I've had one ah ha moment after the next. Well done, and THANK YOU! I ordered your books today.

    Really excellent video and thanks for making it. I have a few questions though, if I may ask? Why is your English so good? What is your favourite song to play and will you end up making videos on finger tapping as well as picking?

    • @willmetz_music
      @willmetz_music  Год назад +1

      I really appreciate that! Good questions haha. My English is good because my dad is American and I've been speaking since I was a kid.
      My favorite song to play is Isn't She Lovely and unfortunately, tap is not a technique I use a lot, but picking, I will, for sure. Check out my other video on Technique there are a few tips in there you might like :)

    I connet to your style of teaching, no many music teachers, can, or were thought music on a deep, or a profound level, to connet with some students, like me, about the way how music works, in theory and otherwise.

    bonjour ! i wonder all the time why they didn't decide to make the strings EADGCF instead of B and E at the end because then it would all follow the same pattern but that definitely would make it a lot harder to play chords lol. merci beaucoup !

    48 minutes into this video you start teaching. Setting the scene should not take 48 minutes. You sold me on the importance of using the correct sort of memory for instant recall and how useful fretboard memorization is for guitarists in the first few minutes. Great video as always but an hour long video on one simple subject will frustrate watchers and drive all but your most ardent fans away imho.
    I left this running while the waffle happened and tuned in just before the end. Sorry, you are a great, natural teacher so maybe; review videos from the watcher's perspective and learn to edit seamlessly? Will allow much faster uploads. :) 👍
