Makes me yearn for a road trip! The left shot has a slightly more idyllic feel to it (of course...sunny day, less traffic, nostalgic) but it's still one of the most beautiful routes in BC. Nice job 👍🏻
Great video I was born in Prince Rupert but left in the 80s and moved to Pennsylvania with my parents They are going to get a drive through memory lane Thank you so much I’m going to show them this
I was living in Prince Rupert back in 1966 and drove that route with my family a number of times. I clearly remembered driving under the tower. I drove this route in reverse in 2000 with my dad and my (then) 10 year old son. I was looking forward to seeing what the road looked like at the tower and was able to tell my son that his grandfather used to drive right under that tower. Totally not surprised to see that it was raining in Prince Rupert when you left.
That was a great walk down memory lane. Family home at 0:30, my Dad's logging camp at 7:05 (nothing left there, but I recognize the railway crossing). Amazing that somebody filmed the whole trip in 1966.
Hi Dave, Why wasn't your footage shot on a nice clear sunny day, just like the original was done? Your dad blew through a STOP sign @ 11th & Frederick (clearly NOT driving defensively), then did a California stop (rolling-through @ the T-intersection that turns left or right onto the main highway. Not to mention that he barely slowed down to allow oncoming vehicular traffic to get by before allowing some more space for a cyclist pulling its trailer where it curves off to the right at an angle. Though he did last millisecond! Otherwise, I enjoyed the side-by-side shots. Well done, aside from the non-defensive driving from your dad. But I did see that another vehicle got upset , for whatever their reason was and passed a pick-up truck over a solid yellow line. Apparently, most of the drivers nowaday seem to almost always be in a hurry, even on that highway..........no time to enjoy the view let's just get there FAST. Definitely some good changes over-the-years, and some not-so-good. **I never realized that one could change the speed of the film, otherwise I would have done so first.** Well done Dad & Dave

Glad you enjoyed it
3:38 Wow, you drove through the base of the transmission tower
Drove log truck under transmission tower wondering if would get hooked towards Rupert.
That's awesome, Dave. Nice work.
Hard to believe I survived that highway in 1968, we were in the "Born to BE Wild" mode
loved doing that trip myself every time.
I was born in Prince Rupert in 1970 on Christmas day, Dec. 25!
You beat me to it, I was going to do the same thing. Just waiting for a decent day. Great job BTW :)
Thank you very much - it was a lot of fun to do..
My childhood home at 0:27 and who are the people captured briefly at 0:35?
The Green River is actually called McNeil River .. Green River is a tributary of the Lillooet River near Pemberton in Southwest BC.
You're a time traveler 😲
