So cool 👍🏻 my parents bought a house on 112th A ave just up the king George highway in 1966. My old house is still there today. Sadly the the bridge is coming down 😢

This was a great experience to see!! Many of the landmarks I can sort of remember as i sat in my mothers lap as dad drove us from Grandparents place in E. Van. I definantly remember there was no "Hump" at the end of the Patullo and a Drive-in being there. Thank you so much for Posting.

Saw the Dog'N'Suds on the King George hill.
There sure was a lot more gas stations back then.

These type of historical/nostalgic video are interesting. When I moved to Metro Van spring of '79 gas was 18 cents a liter, but it doubled within about a year and suddenly was 37 cents due to a gas crisis that summer.

I'm a Burnaby resident. I would rather live in 1966 Burnaby!

What a great comparison! Thank you so much for doing this, Dave. It makes us so happy to know these videos have served as inspiration for this project. So many changes along the route - especially Burnaby! Thanks again for taking the time to do this. Have you seen our latest time machine video on Highway 7A (Hastings, Barnet, Port Moody to Coquitlam)? Might make for another excellent side by side (wink, wink). :) ruclips.net/video/yjsqb-mhmu4/видео.html

Gas stations on every corner... all that leaded gas, leaded exhaust, and cigarette smoke... no wonder so many older folks end up with cancer! Also... the Royal Ave overpass looking EXACTLY the same all these years later (until recently).

That is what I noticed about the before view, too. Gas stations at every corner. I was a pump jockey in '73, 49 cents a Gallon back then.

Just as ugly in the 60s possibly a few more trees. Arrive in a beautiful land, and make a wreck

We only occupy about 2% of the available land in this province, so I don't know where you expect us to go
