What is cel shading? I often hear about it but when I look it up, I only see it in the context of 3D models, not 2D illustration. Edit: i think I got what it is now, basically the use of hard or harder shadows rather than gradients, often to look like manga.
I feel like understanding anatomy is a big part of doing art. In order to get correct proportions, you can learn from this guys lessons, or use references, bases etc. These videos have been helping alot for me, appreciate it dude.
It's why anyone who starts drawing porn ends up skyrocketing in skill. You need to so perfectly capture muscle and bone structures to do it well and it's absolutely key to advancing, so it ends up your entire goal.
Not only anatomy when you think about it. Botany, architecture, textiles maybe even some basic engineering knowledge is needed if you want to draw stuff that looks accurate.
@@aminasidheeg962 exactly. I can't even edit my eye position like in digital. I need to redraw the whole eye section just to edit it. Traditional is definitely more tedious compared to digital. But in terms of making amazing art pieces, both are similar in difficulty.

But all it took was my dad saying "hey that's pretty cool" and enough competition to turn me into a professional artist without doing anything else than just drawing... And 15 years.

I'm guessing this is a joke, but I feel the need to explain either way. He is teaching basics. People can have their styles, but understanding the body's basic shape and functions let's you create an accurate or purposely inaccurate art piece.
