Good video, Many times when people try to break the mold they either overthink or are stuck in a way of thinking. It was great to see your process. And the math was sound as always.
Fun fact: the combined arsenal and military wagons are worth 450 wood, so you're actually getting more wood from the logistician than the quartermaster. You just can't spend any of it on houses.
But it costs an extra 100 food which means you will tech a little bit later and lose a bit of food. It would be mitigated by the fact that your settlers do not have to build.
I will try this in the next team game I play, i tried your 10 vill porto video and it blew me away from beating sioux iro and india to japan! The truth is your channel has helped me re invent myself in a game i have been playing since 2012
I am really looking forward to the day you make civ profiles. Based on what we have seen from you so far, those are going to be insanely detailed and informative. I just learned a lot today. Thanks for your hard work!
@@AussieDrongo I agree, any build order videos should feature that at the end, plus I would like to see a break down of the best distribution of settler labor to ensure the perfect amount of the correct resources come in at the right times. That part is tricky for me.
The virgin skirmisher:cost gold, can't collect resource, little hp The Chad courer the bois: only Cost food, can collect resource, can produce baby without girl, little hp but still OP
I just build the arsenal and get all the upgrades first because how am I supposed to train hussars if they don't even have armor or guns? I also don't like rushing because I'm a pacifist, I want until they attack me first then declare war. I never kill villagers either because it goes against the Geneva Convention and given how good swiss pikemen are I wouldn't want to make them mad.
Don't forget that if you play as the Portuguese you can call the Treaty of Tordesillas. This way your opponent can't legally attack you on your half of the map without your consent.
I like how they changed the game to make it more historical accurate, especially the Native American factions, but still left the French with the flag of the "Ancien Regime" (which should be actually white instead of blue) and at the same kept Napoleon as their leader. Louis XIV would be more fitting.
On the discussion of the reduced impact of the military wagon for the French due to the superior build rate of the CDB: Although the CDB spend less time constructing the stable, you have to weigh that against the opportunity cost of not gathering resources for those 19 seconds. Since the CDB also have a higher gathering rate , time they spend building rather than gathering is more costly than for other civilizations. I don't have the exact numbers, but the overall impact of the military wagon (measured in villager seconds) may be greater than you suggest. Great video though! Well made!
yeah but when you're considering age 2 building the most important thing is not the lack of ressources but the lack of time since everyone will be rushing.
@@AussieDrongo After this series is finished can you start doing civ overviews and grade and rank them? I just had some ideas I would like to share with you. 1.You can grade Infantry, Cavalry and Artillery considering homecity shipments. Like german cav is stronger bcoz 3 homecity cavalry attack shipments boost their cav stats by 45% and hence their WW have 92 attack and Uhlan 94 attack. Whereas Spanish cav is weaker bcoz they dont have much homecity support nor they have royal guard status. For Natives like aztecs and Inca consider their cavalry equivalent like Coyote runners and Eagle runner knights. Swedes although have weak miliitary but their merceneraies are just insane. With mercenery contractor their landsknect have 99 attack and Fusiliers have 129 attack with 114 siege! Its like grenadier musketeer hybrid. This makes swedes a strong military civs so considering homecity is important. 2. Another category can be Defences which can be on various factors. Russians can be considered to have strong defence due to their instantly spawning infantry which can defend the town at any moment. Incas have strong defence due to their 8 town centres. 3. This category should include economy and talk about how strong a civs economy is in early, middle and late game. Like aztecs can have good early economy due to their warrior priests they can generate extra XP by dances and hence get shipments more quickly. with their extra shipment get 3 warrior priests and use them to produce villagers quickly and reach 80 vils in Age 2 only. Brits obviously have good early economy. 4. In all above categories you can subdivide into early game , middle game and late game. Like swedes have weak early game military (Absence of crossbows). Better middle game as high attack hakkapelits come in . And very strong lategame military due to their merceneries. These are some ideas which might help you you may or may not include them. BTW thanks if you made this far to my commment.
Hey mate, don't know if you read comments on videos a week old, but after doing some testing on this, i don't actually know if this is worth it. I know in a more recent video you talked about linearity bias and how raw stats don't tell the full story. Now completely in spite of that, heres some quick math: Assuming that the gold spent on the cav breastplate could have gotten you 4 hussars.... if you imagine your troops are a giant pool of stats, then those 4 hussars would have added 320hp x 4 units = 1,280hp to your pool. Plus in practice that's an extra 4 units out on the map dealing damage. Since the breastplate gives a 10% bonus (which is 32 health per hussar), you would actually need to have a whopping 40 hussars before the resources for that upgrade breaks even with the 4 hussars you could have otherwise had. Only on the 41st hussar does the upgrade give you a better bang for your buck, and even then i don't know at what point it outweighs having an extra 4 units in the fight dealing damage. Curious your thoughts on this. I like the idea of the logistician, but ive found it less effective than the standard build, and after some number crunching i think this is why. I think you're better off just focusing on getting units out instead of dropping all that gold on an upgrade which isn't cost effective until 40+ hussars.
Every video you have posted so far is in high quality, and I have watched all of them due to quality and the time and lenght involved with the information shared. Big thumbs up! Hey Aussie, I've really enjoyed your videos over the last week, and as a relatively inexperienced AoE3 player i had a couple questions about the Japanese. Back when I started playing in 2015, i remember thumbing through a lot of ancient AoE3 lore to find build orders and i found a lot of people considered the Japanese to be gamebreakingly overpowered. Do you believe that was true? And if it was true, do you believe the issue was addressed with the myriad of changes brought in by the definitive edition?
What do you think of the bank rush with japanese, can it compete with ports? I do it alot in deccan. As soon as you aged you have basically a free bank, you just have to send the consulate card in age I and age up with the big shrine and pay 270 export for the bank.
I know you are covering politicians, but I would love to see a video on the value of firepit dance for Aztec or other civs. Like exp dance, fertility dance, travois dance, skull knight dance etc. I am very interested in the value and efficiency of using settlers on the firepit instead of gathering ressources. At what point and what number if settlers is it better to send them to the firepit, if at all?
Swedes seem to get advanced arsenal upgrades for free (no card) when advancing with the logistician and getting the arsenal wagon. Do French get that as well?
@@gruntgg Looks like the swedes just get that part of advanced arsenal for free. They don't even have the card for it; they just always have access to the full arsenal of upgrades. This means they can only get age 2 arsenal with the Logistician.

Kind of sad with definitive edition. It Lags hardcore(even in singleplayer) and the AI doesnt work properly. I was playing with the hardest AI and it was not attacking at all. I played 5 games and boomed to imperial age in all games without facing any raids. In original aoe3 I was scared to send my villagers to hunt in front of my base as AI just killed everything but, now I just casually sent villagers absolutely in centre of map and faced no raids. Some improvements like AI shoot hunts so that they are lured towards town centre. Another thing which was disappointing was extreme AI cheats. And sad fact is that developers were unable to make AI build walls. They did the same for Aoe2 AI why they are unable to do it for Aoe3 AI? Feeling like to unistall this game :( I would have played multiplayer but with 15 FPS in late games its just impossible and frustrating. But I am hoping for improvements. I remember AOE2DE lagged hard first when it was released. I thought it was my system but when I saw Vipers stream I realized it was the game. His game also stopped responding on load screen. But in 36202 they improved it and it didnt lag. Hope that devs do make changes. I think they have overdone too much. I would prefer original game graphics with all DE features. Its just so annoying that cannons hide in white smoke and every shot ignites fire. Thats just too MUCH. Devs should remove some graphics and focus on providing performance.
