    It’s a shame this doesn’t exist somewhere digitally recorded and all we have is cell phone recordings. A lot of people have waited for this a long time time.

    You’ll never see anything like that again or otherwise. Incredible.

    Chris Thile overjoyed to play with a guitar player who can keep up with him

    • @M1keA1
      @M1keA1 11 месяцев назад +4

      he’s played with plenty of guitar players who are just as quick as Billy

    • @pecosnick45
      @pecosnick45 11 месяцев назад +2

      @@M1keA1 Yes. But aside from being a speed demon Billy brings a stage presence, energy, and sensibility for grove and drive that frankly no one else in the game has. Chris Thile is also a big ball of energy. Billy can at least match that.
      I really do believe that in a decade or two with further training in music theory, Billy probably will properly surpass Tony Rice as the best bluegrass guitarist of all time.

    • @austenrobinson2747
      @austenrobinson2747 10 месяцев назад +1

      The look on Billy’s faces tells you he’s in for a long night. It must be hard to play with Thile because no matter the instrument he’s most likely above your level

    • @austenrobinson2747
      @austenrobinson2747 9 месяцев назад

      As for the Tony Rice comment that a really steep hill to climb. It’s not just theory it’s the tone. Tony was a monster and the GOAT. Ask Billy he will be the first to tell you he’s not in that category.

      I believe that Chris is thrilled with having Billy to play with. They intuit each other’s intentions like twins. I’m hoping they’ll hit the studio soon and make an album. The new and improved Skaggs and Rice.❤

    Thanks for posting this. It was such a phenomenal show. I prefer standing at shows but this was so special and freakin amazing that I didn't mind sitting and watching /listening in one of the best acoustically sounding rooms you could ever see a show at. They did an amazing job renovating the little theater and it paid off in spaids with how crystal clear every note was. They sounded so great it was like they'd been playing together their whole lives. Unbelievable on just a few days of practice. I don't think I'd ever seen Chris Thile before but I definitely will again any chance I get. And Cory Henry is always fantastic and like this generations Stevie Wonder with his level of talent. They really need to record an album together. They played off each other so well and really brought out the best in each other. They were having a blast as was the entire audience. Looks like you were sitting a couple of rows in front of me. Chris has got to be one of the best mandolin players out there and Billy is always next level. So many great spontaneous moments and just sheer joy on stage and off. It felt like the grand Ol Opry came to NY and tore the roof off of David Geffen Hall!!
