Dr. Joe DeMarco, chiropractor and owner of OcraMed Health, discusses the external oblique muscles and demonstrates how to develop and strengthen it.
The external oblique muscles are much larger than people often think. The external oblique muscles originate from the 5th to 12th rib and attach onto the iliac crest and pubic tubercle. When the left external oblique muscle is contracted, it turns your torso to the right. When the left and right external obliques are contracted together, they help stabilize your torso.
Many people have weak and underdeveloped external oblique muscles. In addition, many people have unevenly developed external oblique muscles. This is common among athletes who participate in sports that require swinging such as golf, baseball, lacrosse, etc.
In today's video, I demonstrate 3 of my favorite external oblique exercises. These exercises are simple and very effective. They only require an exercise band to perform.
Give these external oblique exercises a try. Leave me a comment in the comment section down below and let me know how it works for you.

Wish I could figure out why i get low back pain from walking and standing at work. I strengthen everything at home and I'm aware of my posture and gait. I'd work 12 hour shifts happily if my feet and low back didn't light up like a christmas tree...frustrating because i'm not aware of any major weakness i may have...been targetting my obliques more since they are fairly underdeveloped
