Hello friend. Excellent video. You worked the line between both another day on your job and sharing your trade/profession BEAUTIFULLY. Up here in my stomping ground...The Great White North...we are spoiled with some excellent freshwater fishing. So the concept of throwing out your line and not knowing what's on until it's within view is familiar. That said, this is the first video I've ever seen showing commercial fishermen using rods. Cool to say the least. In this life it is VERY hard to find a career which you enjoy AND pays the bills. My gut feeling is that you and your cronies have achieved that therefore I am very happy for all of you. Couple questions if you have time. 1 What was the large fish your co-worker threw back in ? 2 Which was the rare fish and what $ did it fetch? May your God be with you both at sea and ashore. Abar shalom.
The "rare" queen triggerfish pays the same as a regular grey trigger, I just used it to my advantage to try to get a few more clicks! (They really are a rare fish here though). I haven't watched the video in a while so I can't remember what we released but that sounds like it was probably a red snapper
When I'm fishing recreationally I bleed all of my fish. On a large scale when you're commercial fishing, it doesn't really make sense to do that with a fish that it isn't absolutely necessary for. On fish that aren't in the tuna/mackerel families, I don't know that bleeding them makes a difference in flavor, I just like it to be a little cleaner when filet them. Since a lot of the commercially caught fish have to be gutted before being sold, a lot of that blood that would make a mess during the filet process leaves the fish when they are gutted.
Its BS that NOAA let's yall have queens and we can't. They are ornamental only here in Florida now. We catch so many queens! Nice haul fellas. Catch them dollas!
The Atlantic Ocean.must be a totally. Different type of commercial license and quota system than the Gulf .Nobody has a 26 ft sportfish boat commercial fishing in the Gulf.
Wow. Crazy how commercial trigger limits if any are much different than rec. For instance in bama you can only keep ONE grey trig a day. So this is insanity to me
I'm sure the gulf triggerfish regulations are different for commercial, I've always heard about the crazy triggerfish regs there. In NC you can keep 10 per person per day recreational with no closed season!
Do you do commercial break downs at least share how much a pound you getting and how many pounds you catching you'll definitely get a whole lot more audience
Not saying I wouldn't get tired reeling for hours. But, I would love to get in on that. Love what you do and never work a day. I searched around and didn't see any listings.
@@Steel_cityfishing Your spelling & grammar are terrible, where are you from? My family are from Grimsby GB east coast & have been fishermen/women for over 200 years. There is zero you can tell me about commercial fishing.
If you look real good you will see they have two coolers one of them with ice in it they dumping ice on top of the fish as they dumped them in you just not looking all the way
Would have been better to see if you weren't just leaving live fish on floor. Should be humanly killed, and put on ice. I wouldn't like to buy rotten fish. They taste better if killed quick.
Very disappointing how you rip the hooks out of the fish and let them drop to the bbottom of the boat. Then they flop around for a while before they are picked up and given a toss into another hard container. I guess salt water fish dont bruise idk. Or i guess its just commercial. I mean you wouldnt throw them around like that if you were fishing recreationally would you. Not overly a lot of respect for the fish or the customers that will consume them on this boat is there?
Go away, apperantly you have never fished. If you did you would know this is like pulling a bandaid off is has to be done fast or you will tear the skin. As far as dropping them when they struggle theres a good chance to get stabbed by a spine ocean fish are loaded with them its part of their defense. You couldnt do better👎
I finished the video, now im off to the comment section to see how many people can do it better and how you did it wrong. I am not a commercial fisherman, i am just a rocket scientist brain surgeon cowboy so i can not offer you any advice here today.
You guys are killing it I haven't been fishing out in the ocean in 10 years I miss it
I love watching you guys! I love fishing... Great catch... enjoy fishing!
Great video I can't ever remember so many tigerfish keep it up
Go fish in Hawaii it’s all triggerfish

Def a great day of fishing for cash IMO. You guys killed it.
Good times living the dream thanks for the video.
I didn’t know there were so many different species of fish off the coast of North Carolina. It’s been a good many years since I’ve fished deep !
Great vid and great fishing. You don't bleed the fish? We tend to kill and bleed everything before it hits the ice. Interested to hear your opinion.

Great video, I thought only good fishing like that was here in Florida 😎
Trigger make the best fish tacos!!!
They are high on my list, and I'm a fish snob
@@nolanminor6761 me too!!
What depth were you guys working with? Feels 120-150ish. Love your bottomfishing videos by the way!
When I was younger Triggers we regarded as TRASH ,now here in south Louisiana they are GOLD .
😮wow that cool 😊

BS from NOAA? No way!
Nice reel.
What a great job
How much can you expect to make in a day like this?
are you from the va beach area?
Wish we saw how much y’all made off this day
Hi Boys. Got ice?
Are you utilizing all those sand tiles?
Yep! Everything gets sold. I've heard sand tiles are actually pretty decent eating.

What's the size of that Talica you're using?
It's a 12, a little too nice of equipment for feeding boston mackerel to triggerfish but it is quite enjoyable to use
What's the Triggerfish limit per boat?
should be zero
Camera makes me dizzy when your reeling in.
Put the fish on ice, for Petes' sake!
Those are twice the size I catch under skyway bridge.
Trigger is the best eating fish on the planet firm and sweet
really ? i didn’t know they made good eating. we get them in Uk but always throw them back as inedible

The AJ would have been way short in the Gulf. Or NOAA would have frowned .
They have to be 36" FL for commercial in the Atlantic
Do you do commercial break downs at least share how much a pound you getting and how many pounds you catching you'll definitely get a whole lot more audience
Not my numbers to share. Unfortunately all of it pretty much just comes down to thumbnail and title over anything else
Would you consider taking on a 66yr old intern?
Have you boys paid your fees, your local politician says you must give them money and "buy your RIGHT" to catch their fish in their water !
I hope he did not have his phone in his pocket

Are you looking for another deckhand? LOL!
@jimmyfumbanks6081 if you need to ask they ya don't need to be outthere . Surely not to take over the operation of the boat smh 🤦
@@jimmyfumbanks6081 did you even watch the video? It's pretty self-explanatory.
Some of those fish look Illegal to me.
With commercial fishing there limits are different then the traditional fisherman different licenses are required

Why are you leaving fish in a tote with no ice out in the sun? I see they're trash fish but jeez.... I wouldn't wanna buy fish from you
Fish aren't staying out for long. Totes/baskets emptied into the fish box and covered in ice after each "stop". Shown more than once in the video
