I thought that Phil's clean vocals had become near-totally fried due to the years of hard living and strain. But it looks like the lower part of his register and wide range are working fine. Shame he can't do justice to the clean parts in "cemetary gates" any more.
His whole register is getting lower. It's perfectly normal with age plus 40 years of intense gigging in an age where vocal techquines and warm ups were not really thought through as much as today. He's sounding just fine
