Please excuse my croaky little voice in this one! I’m not sick, I was just out at a very loud pub the night before this stream and was shouting all night over a few glasses of wine😅
whew! Thank goodness. I started hearing the croakiness and got worried. Glad you were okay, and I hope you are still i good health through the holiday season.
Yeah unfortunately most of the new players are missing this scene because of some remaining enemies bertween the rocks or just being distracted by something else. But she completely nailed it. One of my favorite moments.
2:03 You called? 😁 9:05 I have a series that fully explores the terminals with myself, Kat Peterson and Steve Downes voice acting the series, if you'd like to explore it.
One of the best cutscenes ever. Instead of showing pure action, bungie understood how to achieve a real cinematic experience. The camera, the movement. Just everything is just perfect.
2:44 I love that the marine tells you to look at the sky, just in case you are to focused on finding enemies. Beeing outside he milky way so far you can see it is something different. They really wanted a safe space outside of the firing zone of the Halo Array. Better not let the flood get here. There would be no way stopping the anymore.
9:20 there is no real remaster of halo 3,so these terminals are originals. I recommend reading a conclusion online after your playthrough. It's really interesting what's told In there but you won't find all 7 of them and you might miss informations even if you do.
FInal thoughts on this episode: You should watch some speed runs for CE ("nak3d Eli" did some nice videos on that). They are really doable and fun. Just did them recently becaus there is an achievement to finish the campaign on legendary in under 3 hours (you can do it level wise in any order). "silent catargropher" is just wild and there is a triple grenade jump on "truth and reconcilation". Also, one of the songs you liked is called "behold a pale horse" and another is "walk in the woods" i think. Last but not least, you missed the peeing brute, right after the scarab fight when the marine got stung by 343, go through the door on the right side at the very end of the room. Oh, and not sure if the chat told you, but the Brute Chieftain wanted a 1on1 with you to obtain the rank of the chieftain of all the rbutes like tartarus. cheers :)
I don't know if anyone else told you to this but that last encounter is actually quite interesting, the Chieftain tells the other Brutes to hang back because he wants to fight you on his own.
59:00 the screaming grunts were the sounds of the pack you left alive when you crept passed them - the game deletes that previous area but the AI are left screaming in agony 😂 marines once git stuck there and I had them yelling in pain for ages, I felt awful!
Even though the one after "The Covenant" is held as one of the worst, I think it's propably my favorite level of all of Halo. The cinematic in the middle of the level is the culmination of 3 games and I just love it. And also the level design shows your enemy in perfection.
I love watching these streams, the editing, the commentary, the reactions. The best. But I have never seen anyone miss so many weapons lying all over the floor, behind one more corner, in my entire life. lol
LMAO the glitched screaming Grunt going "NOOOO" reminded me of a hilarious glitch from the game Heavy Rain called "Press X to Shaun" where the main character keeps screaming SHAUN!!!!!!!
53:24 Now _that_ is a unique interaction I haven't seen before. The brute is programed to roar and point after the door opens because the devs assumed that that room would be on alert. Either from the previous room being attacked or from the player shooting on sight. But if you're stealthy enough, it seems the brute at the door doesn't _actually_ notice the player. He was walking away, it was none of his business. 😆
Lucy, just a bit of advice. When you run out of ammo, don't hold onto it until you find more ammo. Just switch it out to have another weapon. Whenever you are finding more ammo, you're almost never actually finding ammo, you're just finding the weapon again, so you can swap it out again instead of carrying an empty weapon. Very rarely, if at all honestly, will you find just the ammo in any game except for CE, and even then they typically just provide you the weapon again. tl;dr, don't limit yourself waiting to find ammo. Grab a new gun until you find the weapon again
Also, you never "blew yourself up" with the Gravity Hammer. It doesn't do that, but iirc from the first time you used it, I'm pretty sure you walked over a sticky grenade that was thrown and it exploded at the same time you swung. That being said, the Gravity Hammer does release a small pulse of gravity in front of where it lands, so if you're close enough to a fusion coil (the weird metal cylinder thingies with the orange lights on the inside), those DO explode and hitting them with the hammer will blow you up, but the Hammer itself is safe and won't randomly kill you. Also, at the end, you disrespected the 1v1! They have the one Chieftain in the middle and all the other brutes will let you fight him until he dies, then they and the jackals will also start attacking. But if you disrespect the 1v1 with the Chieftain, then they'll all just attack at once.
There is always a unique voice line in every halo game this particular level is the funniest when a marine would randomly say this line " Tank beats ghost, tank beats hunter, Tank beats everything" But you have to perform those actions perfectly to get that voiceline or it's just random. 😂😂😂😂
I don't know if you noticed the music that plays when the commander brings her ship down at 31:19 is the same music that plays on the 2nd level in the 1st Halo combat evolved when you exit the tunnel in the warthog to look for groups of survivors.
You wasting sniper ammo on grunts and shield jackals or aiming for the neck on the hunters was a tear jerker😂 and also the plasma pistol is EXTREMELY underrated. If you charge shot it at a brute it takes away their shield then you swap to a battle rifle or carbine rifle for a single headshot, or if you had sniper ammo in this difficulty it’s a 1 headshot kill. Many of the guns are OP if they’re used correctly
I find it interesting that Lucy continued to use the Spiker instead of using the Brute Shot with its powerful Melee in such tight quarters. I think she would really enjoy using that weapon. Oh well, glad she's having fun regardless.
I had that screaming grunt encounter too during my legendary speedrun on this mission and it was hilarious to hear like 3 of them do it (i died against the War Chieftain cuz I was distracted lmao)
I agree that it would be ideal if you could give your Marines specific assignments, alas, it's not possible. However. I find that using the most overwhelming firepower is the best at keeping the guys alive since they are prone to accidents and enemy fire. Using turrets, using vehicles to their maximum capability are musts. Try this one time for kicks please: Ignore the music, slow down, take your time. Find a heavy weapon such as a fuel rod gun or rocket launcher pick it up. Find a pair of marines and a Warthog vehicle. Switch weapons with the Marine. Climb into the Warthog. You want the one with the heavy weapon sitting shotgun. If he grabs the turret, then stop. Move things around, get out of the Warthog, and try again. Once you have a Warthog set up like this you will wonder: "Why didnt I do this earlier?" You will now rain down massive blasts on the Covenant. 🎉😂🎉
Or to get the oddball easily. I love how you have so many ways to defeat the scarab. I usaly use the scorpion to shoot the back off and then hit the power core directly. No need to enter it 😄👍
I just love how so many new players feel like they need to keep an empty weapon. This is Halo, there's no ammo packs. Either you carry an empty gun around for no reason, or you replace a new one with the next sniper you find. XD
I wonder if she knows she can give a power weapon to an ally NPC (e.g. marine), then they have unlimited ammo with it. I used to do this with rockets, snipers, and the fuel rod cannon.
I agree COMPLETELY, @LUCYJROBYN 😃🤩🤩 That drop in cutscene is one of my all-time favorite cutscenes in ALL of Halo!!! 😎😎 OMG, that AMAZING music!!! Reminds me of playing this mission with my nephew!! 😃☺️😊
Scarab boss fight super litty, the grav lifts are for if you want to jump your warthog onto the scarab (or just extra jumping in general), you can pretty much do that fight however you want, its awesome
You know that the ODSTs on this map can shoot much longer range than the regular marines. If you have an ODST passenger with the rocket launcher on the warthog with an ODST gunner, they can shoot at targets a lot farther away and at a faster rate of fire than if you had the same warthog setup with regular marines.
43:43 - "Grav lift...why would I want that right now?" As you have seen in your comments, it's so hard for some of us not to be backseat drivers. 🤐 One thing I would offer though, if I may - Bungie's Halo is a *sandbox* experience. I think this is something a lot of us Halo fans treat as obvious, and it's second nature to play with it ourselves. However, many people have not played games like this and so aren't as familiar with the design language. Not that you don't do it, but you should experiment more and use all the tools of the sandbox, and see how different elements interact with each other. You often carry equipment and don't test it out in different situations - you could be power draining vehicles or rooms of enemies. You could be boarding vehicles more, and hijacking them. You could have used the Wraith in the segment where you secure the LZ for the Forward Unto Dawn, for instance. Or you could have checked the Prowler and noted it had a gun turret - in the sandbox, it's the Covenant's answer to the Warthog. And of course, you could be launching enemy (or even your own 😏) vehicles into high places with the grav lift. I totally understand it's a first playthrough, and you don't have the experience of many of us. We'd just love for you to see everything on offer. We're very enthusiastic is all. P.S did you try an overcharged plasma pistol bolt on an enemy vehicle yet? I can't remember if you ever did that!
A general rule of thumb for the sniper is that for grunts and jackals which you can one-shot headshot with the BR, you don’t shoot with the sniper. For brutes and elites which will only be killed in one shot to the head by the sniper because of shields, you use the sniper
Fun fact: if you just walk up to the hammer chieftain at the end, he will actually challenge you to a duel and the jet pack brutes won't attack before you beat him.
to set your fear at ease: You can't blow yourself up with the hammer. that time you went kaboom in level one was because a suicide grunt went off right as you whomped the hammer.
51:22 I maintain that the only Covies I ever feel bad about killing are the Engineers (you'll see them soon enough). After you see what they do to REACH, you lose all sympathy for everyone else, including the Grunts.
Lucy: "Is liking the Battle Rifle boring?" Chat: "Kayden would like the Battle rifle" Lacy: "Yes." Phahaha! XD - I genuinely cannot tell if she got the joke but I did so well done chat! That is next level roasting~ :P
As a Halo veteran player, it urks me so much when nre players don't know or remember to arm their Marines with powerful weapons to make battles so much easier. Even I knew that in my first playthrough 😩
teeny tip. if you must you can trade the plasma pistol back to the BR after dropping your empty one. And also dual plasma pistols is great towards covenant/elites just aim for the head. Plenty of grunts to refurbish your ammo
I do find it weird when you playing solo, Thel 'vadam (The Arbiter) just reappears at random points, but when your co-op , he is always there (as the 2nd player plays as him)
Also next time you go up again the anti air wraiths focus on the rear exhaust port, shoot that off then shoot the port inside and it gets destroyed quicker than when you shoot elsewhere
