I live 5:26 in a home built in 1856, although it appears that an even older structure or two were here before. I still have a couple things that adorn the outside of the home such as a horse hitching post and a well complete with hand pump. I have metal detected all around my property and the adjacent property with not much luck. This property and the adjacent property was bulldozed so much and leveled that any good artifact is either too deep or been pushed who knows where. All I ever find is trash.
I love it when Mr. Dan joins you for videos. He's a walking memory bank! 😊 And, that grass was SO beautiful! So green and lush! Thanks, Robert, for another great video!
I love the church chimes! The Catholic church near my childhood home used to play "Star of the East" every day at noon until a neighbor complained and they had to stop. That was many years ago. Very sad. After all these years, I still miss it. Our city hall, which is located right downtown, used to play Christmas carols and Christmas hymns over their loud speaker during the Christmas shopping season in the evenings while people shopped. It was magical, especially during a light evening snowfall. They haven't done that for many years because, again, someone complained. I'm glad to see that some churches still play their chimes.
Be glad you can still hear church bells. I love to listen to them. Wish we could hear them here. Love to listen to Mr. Dan. Love watching all your shows...❤
Just love listening to Dan. He is so knowledgeable about the history in your area and I love history. I also watch the Appalachian History Detective and her very good with researching and telling the history of the areas her metal detecting. You him and the hillbilly files are my favorite channels to watch. The only thing is they make me home sick for Get mountains of NC. Just got to figure out how to get back up there. God bless you guys and keep making these awesome videos with all your side kicks and this old lady will keep watching and longing to see the mountains at least one more time.
I just love the historical stories Mr. Dan tells. And I would love to see more metal detector or metal fishing videos. Robert I think you just a sweetheart. I look forward to all the videos from you, TOR, Walter and most of all Uncle Ken. My love to all the Georgia gentlemen❤
Love the history of Waverly Hall. My grandfather grew up in the area. He talked about how Waverly Hall high school played Shiloh High School in basketball in early 1900s . The winner had bragging rights for a whole year.
Robert and Dan, loved this video. Always interesting as to what comes out of the ground. Sure did love hearing the bell chimes. The first piece of music I remember from the days I was younger and going to church. Didn’t recognize the second one. Just a beautiful area. Thank you for sharing this with all of us.
That's a tree-planting shovel you've got there. A regular round point shovel might have been a little better. Anyway that advertising token was an awesome find. I've never seen one like it.
Great video I enjoyed hearing the church bells so many churches no longer have them. Mr. Dan is a font of information The wealth of his knowledge is amazing. I never knew toothpaste came in metal tubes. Who was the young man with you?
Ipana toothpaste came out with a shaving cream-style can in 1958, & in 1959 we had Ipana in a round squeeze bottle that had a slanted, off-center bottom to sit on the sink!
That sure was a pretty spot where you were with your metal detector. And I could listen to the church bells again n again. It sounded so nice. Well kiddo no gold coins but you did find some interesting items. That Coppertone sun tanning lotion in spray can I think it would of come from the 60tys. I like the brass door knob. I think you need to come back there again. You just might get lucky the second time around. ♥️♥️😊👍👍🌟🌟🐶
If you’re gonna metal detect, you gotta dig up “a plug.” It’ll go right back in the earth with no damage to either the item you’re detecting or the lawn. 😉 Loved watching you and Dan
I found this one to be as fascinating as they get. The old photos helped a lot. It’s always disappointing to me when progress intrudes so much into history.
@@marlene7969 I used to live next to the 99 freeway and on the other side was the train yard. The trains couple up at all hours of the day and night, eventually you get used to that too. We live under a flight pattern from Fresno-Yosemite International Airport. We're sort of getting used to that too. I do miss the quiet of living in Death Valley National Monument, now a national park since '94.
Could that have been the wick holder & burner from what we called an Aladin lamp? The wick wasn't just a flat woven fabric type but a gauze type & round in a sort of cage holder if I remember right from my childhood at the camp. Similar to those on a Coleman lantern for lack of a better comparison. They had a much taller chimney and a decorative glass shade usually & gave off a much brighter & less yellow light. Kinda like florescent compared to a light bulb for electric years.
Any old filled in privies around that you can dig up? People used to fill those up with all kinds of trash. When will you get to detecting in the OBF barn yard and smoke house areas?
I’ve metal detected for years I thought the ground was hard here in Pennsylvania because of the rocks here , too bad you didn’t probe for the old outhouse privy that’s where the treasures would be , be interesting to find old medicine bottles , ect.
Enjoyed this video. How would you tell if that was the burn spot from houses or a burn area for trash? Like in a burn barrel for household trash? Just wondering. Anyway, fun video! Best wishes from Middle Tennessee.
During rationing and hardship during the war… ladies used leg makeup instead of stockings. I wonder about thst tube of coppertone…that’s what it brought to mind for me anyway.
If you could figure out where the outhouse was, if they had an out house, there’s a guy called under the planes who digs out outhouses he finds amazing things bottles from the 1800s who knows with your fine downer outhouse pit
It was still an interesting video, even if you didnt find any of that long lost "Confederate" gold that was in the old house that burned. I believe your katydid's and the ones in my backyard are singing the same song.

I would love to talk with Mr Dan. My Mother was a Akins from Georgia. She has been passed 45 years and all her brothers and sisters is passed so they is no one I can ask questions of and I'd love to know if he would be able to help me learn of any of my family.

I so enjoyed the church bells!!!! My little hometown no longer has a church that plays bells. I miss it so much.
Dan is such a wealth of historical information.
Dan has so much historical knowledge of your area . He is absolutely amazing. 😊

The first song I learned as a Christmas hymn when I was a child. "Oh, How Joyfully" is the name. I, too, don't know the second song.

Love the historyMr Dan always gives.👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Nice hearing the bells. I recognized the first melody as an old German Christmas carol. Tunes go where they want to.
Thank you both for the informative video. Always a pleasure.
Hello, Dan! Amazing variety in one small area. Fun adventure!
Enjoyed I think I've used some copperton I'm day. Mr Dan is very knowledgeable
Great history and the old plantation home was beautiful
I loved hearing the chimes so close, after hearing them occasionally out at the Byrd Farm!---"Blue-haired ladies..."!

My favourite two gentlemen and gentle you both are❤
This was very interesting thank you both very much God bless you both 🙏❤️
Our eBay shop helps keep gas in the car and batteries in the metal detector: www.ebay.com/usr/oldbyrdfarm
Well the Coppertone Company was founded in 1944 so it would be around the 60's or 70's era style container.
That sure was a pretty spot where you were with your metal detector. And I could listen to the church bells again n again. It sounded so nice.

@9:30 "O Du Fröhliche" is the name of the carol. Odd that they'd be playing German Christmas carols but lovely all the same.
I love the church bells!

If the ground isn’t hard as a rock 😉
Keep your partner with you . That man has more knowledge in his little finger than most will ever have !
Mr Dan the historian man .
Pretty sure the longer you have that foam the better it works😊 Rock on guys 😊
OMG, with that hard clay soil I have to ask what kind of crops were grown.
loved it love the church music too could listen for hours
I found this one to be as fascinating as they get. The old photos helped a lot. It’s always disappointing to me when progress intrudes so much into history.
Can you imagine living near that church? I mean the bells are lovely sounding, but what, at least once an hour? OMG!!!
I live next door to a church with bells. You get so used to them, you really don’t notice them most of the time.

I miss the bells from the Methodist church in the small town I was fortunate to grow up in. This video brought back beautiful memories! 🔔 ⛪️
I had fun , thanks for taking us along !
I remember that kind of motor oil. I've heard of it before, but can't recall from who. Likely my late father.

Hi Dan , i think you are right looks like door knob 😊
I’ve metal detected for years I thought the ground was hard here in Pennsylvania because of the rocks here , too bad you didn’t probe for the old outhouse privy that’s where the treasures would be , be interesting to find old medicine bottles , ect.
You have some excellent friends.
Beautiful sound of church bells
Your treasure hunt is much as mine always is.
Old tin cans , nails etc from the mid 50s not much earlier.
Pieces of rusted away plow parts
Enjoyed this video. How would you tell if that was the burn spot from houses or a burn area for trash? Like in a burn barrel for household trash? Just wondering. Anyway, fun video! Best wishes from Middle Tennessee.
Hi Mr. Dan !
I tried some Coopertone self tanning lotion when I was a teen(just on my legs)😅, just turned me yellow...not a good buy. I threw it away, too.
I love dans southern drawl…as a girl from New Jersey I have my own kind of accent, lol
That tanning crème was Coppertone brand.
Nuggetnoggin always says dig all the signals
During rationing and hardship during the war… ladies used leg makeup instead of stockings. I wonder about thst tube of coppertone…that’s what it brought to mind for me anyway.

Ah, that deep dark Coppertone tan. Thanks for not singing along to the church bells.
People use to bury their trash.
Years ago I hunted trash piles where after burning trash the piled
Trash in an open field.
After 40years the bottles would be 4 to 6 inches deep.
Sudden tan 1970s, was 50 years ago!
Yes! I remember it turned my aunt orange and it rubbed off onto clothes. This was in the early’60’s

I haven’t viewed you for some time. Is everyone okay? And do still have Blue?? And is he okay?? I’ll do a better job of keeping up with you. God Bless
💖
Looks like they are standard in front of a green screen
Hope you don't get a copyright strike from the church bells! 🙂
Still softer than New Mexico soil
My dog loves to dig holes all over the backyard and he dug up a glass empty insulin bottle
Sudden tan. Early 1970’s.
May b helpful to have smaller tools for digging
Coppertone from late 60s or 70s
Turned you yellow!!
How do you determine a home is a plantation versus just a regular house?
A plantation house would be one with a working farm
Someone's trash burning barrel
Hey guys want to try metal detecting for civil war bullets if you know a place where there was a skirmish actually a battle between the Confederates and the Union you might get some Civil War bullets cuz I got a metal detector I want I want to try to do is go to Gettysburg in that area and go metal detecting for civil war bullets
Lol melted beer can😅
Jackhammer country!
It's old
The church didnt like you guys digging up near there so they played the horrible bell tunes to try to annoy you away.
Those Church bells would drive me crazy. 😅
tenant houses? maning the human beings that were enslaved by the plantation owners?
You Just Will Not No If You Dont Go. So Now You No.
Better you than me, one good find in how long?, digging into hard ground, fire ants for a lump of metal just doesn't do it for me.
The charred bits were a good find.
It is of historical value. It proves where the house stood that burned. So all good finds.
