I picked-up a bottle in 2015 and love it...not because it's an outstand scent or garners huge compliments, but because it's pleasantly gentleman, but with just a pinch of bat-shit-crazy to keep we fragheads interested without pissing-off everyone around us. I crave wearing this in the Spring and early Summer, but I put this scent completely out-of-mind during the other moths. Like you mentioned, it's a quintessentially masculine scent that walks that line of being interesting to all, yet offensive to nobody. Highly recommending fragheads looking for a gentleman's scent to check this one out. P.S. I think I picked-up my 100ml bottle for something like $55 back in the day. Cheers! Oh, like most offerings from L'Artisan and Penhaligon's....performance isn't the greatest, but it's okay.
My thing with fougeres, in gereneral, is that they simply smell like my grandpas, I cannot escape that association. Saying that it has a sentimental value to it, but absolulely no appleal to smell it on a man , let alone to wear it myslef. This fragarnce category is forever lost for me as anything more than nostalgia.
L'Artisan is a wonderful house. While I don't love everything from them I've tried, I definitely like them. FdA I isn't worth $180 imho but I got an original 50ml for maybe $50 and I'm glad I have it.
Rustic cabin in the woods you say? Sounds like my kinda deal. Still, I agree with you on the price point. Ps, I had the father flashback the first time I smelled Aventus (an older, woodier batch). A strong association at that. Then again, I was just getting back into the game and hadn't smelled much at the time, so I imagine most woody or vintage leaning fragrances would've had a similar effect. Comforting, if nothing else.
I don’t know...reviews tend to be from the point of view of someone asking me if I’d recommend it. As much as I like this, I think there are some comparable choices from Trumper or Musgo Real. Thanks!

Dark background looks great.
You had me at nonchalant elegance! That's what I strive for in fragrance and attire. I have recently discovered the joy of fougeres. ♥
Always loved this and owned a few bottles . Disappears quick though
i’ve yet to try this one. what i heard about it in the past didn’t grab my attention. but your description definitely did. on the 2try list with it!
I know Turin didn’t care much for this, but when I finally tried it myself...whoa...loved it.
Where are you?

@@theaetherealist haha!
@the aetherealist - I am vaguely reminded of Zaharoff Signature based off a quick sample. Am I completely off base here?

Do you think your rating would have been higher if it was always found at the grey-market price, around $100 USD?

@@theaetherealist a bit late but what ones from Trumper or Musgo?
I really like it , but like many from the house it lacks in performance, imo! Nevertheless it smells great
Agreed!

This one just didn't do anything for me. Just had a short interesting burst than then it died on my skin.
