- Cook delectable pulled pork in about an hour in your Instant Pot! Cut a 3-to-4-pound pork butt roast into four pieces. Prepare a rub of two tablespoons brown sugar, a tablespoon of cumin, a tablespoon of chili powder, salt and pepper to taste, and two teaspoons smoked paprika. Rub that mixture evenly over the meat pieces. Heat two tablespoons canola oil in the Instant Pot on SAUTE mode, then brown the meat on all sides for about five minutes. Turn off the Instant Pot, and add a 16-ounce bottle of your favorite barbecue sauce and 1/2 cup apple juice (for a total of about 2 and a half cups liquid). Set lid to SEALING and secure the lid. Set Instant Pot to Manual (or Pressure Cook, High) to pressure cook for 45 minutes. When pressure cooking is complete, allow a natural release for 15 minutes. Remove the meat from the pot, let the sauce thicken up on SAUTE mode for about 10 minutes. Pull the meat apart with a fork and then pour about a cup of the sauce over the meat. Serve on soft white bread (King's Hawaiian rolls are perfect!) Serves 4-6. Yum!

I love her she has a glass of wine... it reminds me of when grandma was young and hip
Sean Hart oh my gawd, I love you too. I LIVE to be young, hip grandma!! My grandkids would laugh to hear you say that.
@@Tessknadler keep on rockin in the free world. Thanks for your video the food was awesome.
Very nice! I hope that was more then a glass. Looks great.
LOL Sean I was thinking the same thing! I was thinking she would add it to the pot at some point too!
Just made it and loved it. I must say the whole family loves it. I could only imagine your an awesome mom.
thanks for the recipe!! Just made this with a few substitutions, I didn't cut the meat before I cooked it and I used a seasoning packet I got from the store and used apple cider vinegar instead of apple juice and I can't wait to taste it.
Erica Woodridge I am sure it turned out great!
how was it?
Cody Noble it came out good, it is now my signature go to pulled pork recipe
whoever you are dude... All I say to you is, cherish every second you have her. I cannot begin to tell you how much I miss my mom and how I wish she was still here to make me some comfort food :)
Same here.!
Gonna make me cry
Excellent viideo. ..thanks!
Great video.
thanks!
I see the glass of wine. Essential for every recipe
I did parties for many years and of course worked with the best chefs and caterers...no one likes a sober chef
helps with being on camera too
@@stiltz86 I think that's true!!
Hello everyone..here is an update. Purchased a pork roast butt _ 4 lbs. I followed her instructions (same liquid, bbq sauce, searing, etc) with exception to adding a bit of creole seasoning to the rub. This recipe was outstanding. I followed her suggestion and ate the pulled pork on Hawaiian rolls, and 2nd day just ate it on Hawaiian buns....this is a must try!! Wow!
Thanks for that shout-out. I love the idea of adding creole seasoning to the rub. I’m going to try that!
Omg you nailed it! You seem like an amazing mom. Sadly mine passed away when I was in high school, but your laid back and loving personality reminds me if her and I thank you for that.
Jared Alva Oh! Thank you so much. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
Just watching this (and this is the 4th one I’ve watched) thinking, “Why is this lady so f**king smart?” She did almost exactly what I’d do:)
HonestlyCrayz This might the best comment I’ve ever received. And your dog is adorable!!!
Thanks for posting this. I've become a big fan of the instant pot over the last year but I've been a life long lover of BBQ. I excited to put the two together! cheers!
You are the best. I get to learn without someone doing a comedy skit along with the video. A camera makes people change. We just got our instant pot, just like yours. Need lots of help. Thanks so much.
Tommie T You will love your Instant Pot! Thanks for the wonderful positive feedback! Makes my day!
I feel the same way.
You are an excellent teacher.
Omg can I come to your house for dinner?? Yummmmmm
Mouthwatering! Thank you for posting this 👍
so many great recipes ruined by the garbage called sweet baby rays Bbq sauce 🥺
Aww I just loved your video!!! Your son is very lucky to have you as a mom.
Love this video! Such a great idea
Apple juice with those savory flavors is genius. I bet it is superb.
Try apple cider vinegar and some V8 splash instead of apple juice.
I selected this video by mistake, while looking for a pork roast recipe, and I am definitely doing this one. Looks delicious! Good job, Mom.
I loved that you showed us how to Use the Instant Pot and not just show us the recipe. I'm going to do this for my daughter and Grandkids. P.S. I love cooking with Wine too. Thanks Theresa!
Hello, just found this in 2021, and am making it tonight. Thanks for making it clear and easy to follow. Looks amazing!
Nice job well outstanding job on the BBQ. I DONT USE the Insta cooker. I use emeril legasse. It’s basically the same identical cooker but mine is more expensive but that doesn’t mean it’s better. and I will definitely use your recipe blend this week. Oh By The Way. THOSE sandwiches looked so succulent. I want one
Theresa, I added more apple juice and it is cooking now -down to 35 mins from the original 45 mins. Everything seems to be working fine. Will let you know the end results. Thanks!
How do instant pot times work, does it just get more tender or will it overcook?
You have a lucky son! What a nice mom!
Hi Jeff, I gave you a like even if I thought you took it too far in the shredding! I like mine shredded with the fork or claws! Thumbs up to you Alicia, Thanks
this is one of the easiest pulled pork recipes I've seen. going to get a pork butt this weekend and make this. thanks!
This was a great video, it was short and too the point and I like all the extra info you gave about how the instant pot works and what to expect, I wish I had seen this before I ever started using one!
Why do all these videos use a sugar tomato based BBQ sauce, that for me ruins Pulled Pork
Thank you for the detailed instructions in your description section - so helpful and not everyone does it! Trying your recipe tomorrow!
April Schuiling Oh, I am glad you think that’s helpful. I gotta have a recipe written out, easy to follow!
You forgot to ad the wine , JK looks good .
I was thinking the same ;)
I can't wait to try this! I have ordered an Instant Pot. My parents did a lot of cooking with a pressure cooker and the meals were delicious.
Excellent coaching and recipe for pulled pork in the Instant Pot! Thanks for sharing it with us!
Hi Mom, Thank you for this lesson on how to handle my electric pressure cooker!
This was just the lesson I needed - at 60! Thirty years ago my mom took the Seal on my stove top Presto and threw it in the garbage. She had a girlfriend who was badly turned.
The only thing I use my Presto for is popcorn, but now I have a InstantPot!
You can order new seal for that pressure canner on amazon
Second time I’ve made this pulled pork. I do it exactly like she does and it’s wonderful!
I love this video thanks :) best pulled pork video on YT
Our go-to recipe for pulled pork! We love the food and the instruction is great :) Awesome job.
Well you may have made this for your son Eric but now he has to share you with the rest of us! I’m 71 but felt your motherly ways immediately. Thank you for being who you are and sharing your love with all of us.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching.
AWESOME recipe and a great video with very clear instructions. I am off to try mine now. Thank you for this!
I am making a over 7 .35lb. In the insta pot
Excellent recipe and directions! I was easily able to convert to my pressure cooker. Thank you!
I hope your son didn't see this before you exchanged gifts
Theresa, I resolved the burn message by adding more liquid and the instant pot worked fine. Try using at least a cup to a cup and a half of apple juice.
Where'd you go??? I've subbed and love your videos!!
Hi Theresa, Tonight I christened my 3qt Instant Pot with your pulled pork recipe. Your use of the apple juice was brilliant, cause that's what I had in my fridge along with a bottle of BBQ sauce and 1.5lb pork rib end. It came out AWESOME! I can't get my wife to eat anything from the Instant Pot cause she's still mad I outdated her old Crock Pot, but she'll come around. Thanks for the great starter meal!
@Nytram Nytram4348 You can tell her that yourself. Her number is 1800 man eatr
One of the best IP videos for beginners I have seen. Thank you so much for showing step by step on how to use the IP.
Patty AAP Thanks! I cooked this dish again last night for our New Year’s Eve supper, after a long day of holiday travel. I had forgotten how easy it is!
@@Tessknadler It looks delicious!!! Thanks to your video and clear instructions, I'm cooking mine as I am typing this comment. It went exactly as you demonstrated. Thank you so much for sharing!
I've always bought pulled pork from containers at the store, but never thought to make my own until now. I have an instant pot and will definitely be trying this recipe. Looks so good, thanks so much!
BeaupieOP you’ll love it, and it’s easy
You didn't mention if it should be on low pressure or high pressure, other than that I have followed your instructions, smells great !
On my LUX-IP model, I only have a "Manual" option, which is equal to "High." I hope your pulled pork turned out great!
great video .. thank you :)
Gonna give this a go today, it looks amazing. I might try getting a sear on a hot grill with a dry rub but will follow your recipe to a T after. Thanks for posting!
mybleachhouse Best part of cooking is adapting recipes to make them your own! Enjoy!
This was my first recipe I've made with my instant pot and WOW it was amazing! I ended up using apple cider vinegar instead of juice and some nice brioche buns. Hubby had seconds! Thanks!
I'm so glad to see this - I didn't have apple juice so I used apple cider vinegar too and had my fingers crossed! I'm so excited for how it will turn out!
I have done this twice based on your recipe, thank you. When I did it yesterday , I used the left over juice to make rice and chicken breasts, wow, that’s good too!
Cool! I have wondered how to use all that leftover liquid. That sounds yummy!
Theresa Johnson very easy, just added one layer of chicken on the metal insert thingy, 1.5 cups of rice and 3 cups of chicken broth with the left over broth from the pork. Cooked for 15 minutes. It’s super bbq chicken and rice !
Very clear. Thanks.
i finally opened up my IP and this was the 1st thing i cooked and it came out AWESOME!! i cooked this bbq pork on Sunday, June 30, 2019. Thanks
And I wasn't invited.
Wow, I was scared of my instapot until today! Thank you!
Nothing to be scared of! Enjoy!
I love it you have a little wine
Thanks Mom🥰 Good job😁👍
I love this recipe
Thank you for sharing.
Hell yeah!! Nice video!!
Wish I were your son. XD
If I added a cup of wine and a cup of apple juice, does win help in any way
That would be fine. The flavors will be different. But fine.
I already knew how to use pressure cookers thanks to my dad and his stove top pressure cookers. I was not intimidated when my sister sent me my instant pot. I was like yaaaaay!!!!
The instructions said to test it with plain water first. Me, I made hard cooked eggs as the trial run instead of just plain H2O. Rebel me!😋 I make shredded pork (in gravy) all the time because my mom who lives with me has bad teeth.
I want to try it with BBQ sauce as in this video. 😋
So this video is for your son???? Can I watch???
Please do!
I’ve tried a handful of pulled pork recipes here on YT and have to say that this one is my favorite. Cooked it today but my brown sugar had turned in to a brick 😢. So I chipped some off, boiled some water and dissolved the sugar. Then added the other spices and marinated instead of the usual dry rub. Came out wonderfully, many thanks Theresa.
At a girl mom..!!!
omg that looks absolutely amazing!
Thanks look so good,
I'm following your recipe right now. You're right. The smell is so good, it drove me out of the kitchen.
Wow. Thank you so much. I can't wait to try it too. But I was touched by the end of your video because it was so unexpected. Your son is lucky to have a mother like you.
Thank you, thank you. Newbie so first meal I wanted was pulled pork. Remember The story you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find the prince. Well I have watched so many videos on this that yours was the only one that I got everything I needed from that nine minutes. I’ve subscribed and can’t wait to look at all the other yummy stuff you have!!!
Every Mom should make their kids videos making their favorite foods...and post them! Thanks Mom.
I couldn't help myself, but to press that "LIKE" button.
Really enjoyed watching this - learned some new tid bits about my Instant Pot - and will most definitely be trying out this recipe VERY SOON! Will subscribe to this channel for more great recipes!
Great video. I needed something for a small amount of meat (3lbs) and this was perfect. Thank you!
I like your recipe! Years ago we had Prestos, in fact I had two as I worked full time and went to school at night…..so in order to feed my family, time was important! Now they have a revised version of the pressure cooker and people are loving them. Thank you for the recipe!
Thank you!!!!
Mine keeps saying food burnt 😕
Sorry to hear it! Release the steam, open the pot, make sure nothing is sticking to the bottom and add clear liquid (water, broth or cider) and set pressure cooking to start again. If the sauce is too thick or if there is anything sticking to the bottom of the pan, you may get a burn notice.
Thank you for this recipe Teresa this is my second time of doing this pool pork it is delicious and I share it with my neighbors and they really enjoy it thank you for all you do for us out here in RUclips land
Thank you! I can't wait to make this tonight.
Again thank you, thank you!!!! My pulled pork is fabulous and fell right to pieces and soooooooo good. Can’t wait to really see what this does, lol. Children grown and gone so love tha can cook as little or as much my husband and I need.
Currently have this cooking in the instant pot. Cannot wait to have it for dinner
I used a half bottle of Sauternes white wine. That’s just a sweeter white wine served as an apéritif here in France. I also added apple juice, BBQ spices and bottled BBQ sauce. It turned out well. I followed your instructions which are very easy. Thanks for your help.
I’m going to try your receipts and all your instruction today, you make it see much easier thank you so much. ✌🏼❤️, I also drink a glass of wine when I’m cooking cheers 🥂😊
Thanks mom!
I'll be trying this tonight, hope your son had success with his! I am a little late to the IP bandwagon, but I am glad to be here! This will be my first attempt, and I'll be following your recipe!!
I think we call these pressure cooker
Yes. The Instant Pot is for sure a pressure cooker.
Overwhelmed is the perfect word. Got mine right after Christmas but have only used it 2 times. I am still nervous about doing it. But your videos are awesome. I look forward to watching more and trying some of these out very soon.
Oh My! That pulled pork looks so delicious! I'm going to make some of this in the near future.
Yum! Im making this as Im watching your video. Thank you for this video!!I love pulled pork and never made it before. Yours looks great! Thank you
Thanks for watching, and for your kind words. I bet your pulled pork was awesome.

M
I will try this recipe out next weekend 😋
It's 2am and now I have a craving for pulled pork from watching this. Great video!
I know what I'm doing dor dinner tonight : )
so did your son ever use it for pulled pork? lol update us!!
I use it all the time!! Pulled pork and chicken, ribs, all sorts of different curries. This last St. Patty’s day I dove in deep and did our corned beef cabbage. It worked out perfectly. My mom is the master though. She knows all the tricks.
erik johnson You are probably the best cook in the family, son. ❤️
Really appreciate all of your videos. You’re a great teacher! I just bought the Crock Pot brand , but wish I’d bought the Instant Pot.
I bet you’ll love it, whichever brand you have!
