I have been an artist all my life. I like to see how other artists work and you are my favorite. You're talking about risk, I call it experimenting. Very resourceful for making prints with wallpaper. You have a gift for combining colors and getting the color shades right. I can also see your positivity in your paintings. It makes me happy. I always have to give up something because I have a muscle disease. But that is no reason to stop making art. It presents new challenges. I wish you the best of luck and keep it up. Greetings Peter Palm.

I’m working through the Artists Way and one of the points I read yesterday was “It is my job to do the work, not to judge it.” I loved that. I’m a terrible judge of what I do and I need to stop and let go! Through practice and experimentation comes growth. Love your risk taking this week.

Another absolutely incredible video Gaynor. I was hesitant when you first started working with the gel plate - where is this going? Yet ultimately everything came together as a lesson in exploration and perseverance. The wallpaper application on the larger piece was stunning, and definitely not cheating. After all we couldn't call using a stencil as cheating, so why the wallpaper imprint? I loved the uneven application that occurred as it gave the piece a sense of depth, a bit of unevenness and some history, much as if the scene was of a room that had aged. You continue to motivate and inspire. My Thursday is better for having watched this as I enjoyed my morning coffee!

I will still try the geli plate soon.

Loved this video Gaynor... re: gel plate - a tip I was given was to use 'open medium' ... or any slow drying medium... or 'golden open acrylics' ... this way you have a little more time to play with the design and placement of your bits and pieces on the plate and paint doesn't dry out in the middle of your experiment. warm wishes to you from Sydney, Au. :)

Thankyou Gaynor for sharing another power house of creativity! 😊 Your inspiration from Shania Rhys James is very inspiring - I need some anaglypta! (Never imagined that I’d ever be using that sentence 😉) - loving where all these are going! Did occur to me that you could make some collage papers on the gelli plate, using your trusty brayer marks and make a vase out of that to glue onto your painting - and I guess, the ‘wallpaper’ could also be done in the same way. And I know exactly what you mean about getting ‘too precious’ about a piece - I do the same - even on rubbish paper that I’ve used with the intention of avoiding that. 🙄

Always enjoy watching your methods and experiments and all the risk taking too, you never fail to inspire me. Thanks for sharing that quote from the book, it makes sense and was good to be reminded of that…. With the gel plate, to pick up the ghost print you need to let the paint dry a little bit then just a very thin layer of paint to pic it up, if your patient enough, leave the paper on there to dry a few mins and you will pick up everything thats left on the plate…. There is so much fun to be had with the gel plate, so many possibilities…. Have you tried using wax of oil pastel on paper then onto the wet paint, it will resist the paint and leave the design on the plate to pick up with a plain piece of paper…. If that makes sense? I know it can be a bit confusing to work with when your out of practice but great fun, you never really know what your gonna get haha….. Thanks for sharing as usual your great! X

Good morning. I’m getting used to being woken by a carer this next few weeks and I am beginning to like it especially when I wake to the You Tube algorithm putting you at the top
    Of my watch list.
I love watching your process. By coincidence I have a green chair in my bedroom so I painted it yesterday but I am no Freda Kahlo…yet 😂
In my freezing garage I have put thermal curtains at the door and thermal blinds and curtains at the window. Only the roof is insulated. To keep the materials out there ok I leave on a small oil filled radiator set just to keep the frost off. I cover everything with dust sheets and bring paper and books indoors.
I do lose things though. My favourite sketch kit is missing now. So I’m getting on with other things. I unearthed some old markers I bought many years ago and some pearlescent oil pastels again from at least 15 years ago.
To get my wallpaper effect I used a creamy silver pearlescent pen and wiggled it randomly down the paper to get the blown vinyl effect (last decorated in the 90’s). Then I used watercolour paint very thin to drizzle colour over it to get a bark effect. (A friend had bark effect Artex walls - thank goodness I stopped at wallpaper. Her walls can take skin off) 😂
Ok. Peanut butter on toast and coffee done. Time to get arty. Xx

Hello Judy, I want to say keep taking it easy but also love the news that you painted your chair 😊We are thinking about converting our garage into a studio and heating with the aid of solar panels on the roof - it will be a slow job !! Love the sound of your wallpaper and laughed out loud at the skin grazing artex 😂Have a wonderful week XX

    Hi Gaynor
Would you consider painting a black trim on the edges of the cushion on the chair?
And perhaps painting the vase a soft grey which has a green glaze look?
Hope you don’t take offence at my suggestions.

Thank you for another fabulous, inspiring and energizing video. I wonder whether you can share storage ideas, particularly mounts and frames and paper. I have a very small studio and, try as i may, to keep it organized these supplies end up in stacks under the table and behind the door. TIA
