And suddenly I realize that I kind of want a youtube channel of Keith wandering around random places to knock on doors and look over his glasses at whoever answers to ask "Do you have any items from the Royal Society which have been previously loaned out to you?" while holding a big dusty old ledger and then recording their reaction...
RealLuckless can't wait to see him busting some fool's kneecaps.
See, I was thinking more along the lines of him looking at them for a long time and just asking "Are you sure?..." while staring at them over the top of his glasses, then making a checkmark in the ledger with a bit of a flourish before snapping the book closed and walking off with a polite "Have a good day then" or something...
But now I'm curious what him busting kneecaps might look like...
RealLuckless But who will do an appropriately dignified cover of "Bad Boys" for the theme tune?
He uses the mace from #40.
Keith got so better at being in front of a camera.. Cheers to you both, you make a great team!
Capitus I thought he always was doing great. :| (but I am no expert so :/)
Keith has quickly become one of my favourite people!
Going out to "borrow" some stuff from Royal Society, so Keith comes 'round.
"Borrow" with a ski mask and crowbar?
PokemonDiamondUS
Are there other ways?
I see you're now over 100,000 subs Brady. Another silver button for the collection!
This show is just getting better and better.
+Doug Chase thanks for watching
this portrait behind keith and ME
fixed that for you

Haha!
the best reply to anything ever!
I figured Keith was probably twitching inside when you said it. Since he knows English and has standards.
It made me cringe!
thanks guys you are my only relief while i'm preparing my exams!
happy to help!
Good luck in those exams, random guy in comment section.
help?! he should be studying!
I freaking love Keith at the end, laughed so hard X'D
Absolutely love these videos Brady. Thanks for sharing and getting Keith involved.
The history of science and mathematics is the history of humanity, they go hand in hand. Seeing this kind of video where the people are discussed more than their accomplishments is a delight from time to time.
Cheers!
This is such a great channel! Brady and Keith make a great team (and James too, of course).
Now where do I get something someone borrowed from the Royal Society long time ago so I can get a visit from Keith? It would be marvelous to have him show up at my doorstep and invite him in for tea.
You wouldn't happen to have any salt spoons lying around would you?
Depends,
If you're asking on behalf of Keith, then I probably do somewhere.
If you're asking to potentially rob me to have Keith visit you instead, then definitely no :D
Best response ever. ^_^
How on Earth do you have the time or energy to make all these videos across your channels, Brady? And HI to boot! Hats off to you, mate.
You make such a great duo guys ! Thanks so much ch for all the fun and the science ;)
I'd like to put Keith, Stephen Fry and David Mitchell in a room, and just listen.
Yeas, David Mitchell would also cringe at hearing, "behind Keith and _I_"!
I am pretty sure the "spectrum of radium emanation" is not the spectrum of radium but of radon, possibly contaminated with other elements and compounds in the atmosphere. Before radon was recognized as an element, distinctive emanations of radium, thorium, and actinium were called "emanations" and sometimes "radon, thoron, and actinon" or similar, which is where we get the modern element name from.
It's good to see that Objectivity has surpassed the 100k mark in subscribers.
This is probably my favorite channel of Brady's. I am a history nerd and eat stuff like this up
Thailand!!! So proud when Thailand is mentioned.
Shout out form Colorado! Although, being familiar with wild west Colorado history, I doubt those knee sitting 'ladies' were actresses! Looking forward to the eclipse here this August.
:) I love seeing an objectivity video in my inbox! you guys do really great work! there is so much cool stuff hidden in the royal Society, and you guys need to document all of it!
+zKeen thank yiu
Great video guys!
I would love to see Keith and Brady change clothes for a laugh.
So much entertainment and education in one video. As always, well done!
+Tolle Wurst cheers
You and Keith are such a great team in front of the camera (hope behind as well). I am coming from Computerphile and Objectivity happened by accident. I do not regret it at all. Thank you for the reply (and for the great link to xkcd LMAO) , gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling ;-) .
I'm sure Schuster would be excited for the eclipse this august! I'm driving down by St Louis myself to see it with family! :)
Now i imagine Keith as the protagonist in the film "Taken".
Come on! We want to look at a picture of "Uncle Pete" to compare!
Exactly what I was thinking ;^/
I'm gonna be chasing the eclipse this year. easy trip from NY to TN.
Good luck and clear skies. I wish I could make it (I'm even closer than you are) but, you know, life.
If you're going to mention "Uncle Pete" Dr Brady please add a photo in the show notes, Hello Internet style.
Man, with any other institution, if you take something on loan and don't give it back for 30 or 40 years you've probably figured you're off scott free. But the Royal Society NEVER forgets.
You just described the plot of Warehouse 13. Kieth would make an awesome agent. :P
I'd love to see an episode where Doctor Who has "borrowed" stuff from the R.S. and Kieth has to get it back.
0:04 * This portrait behind Keith and me...
+BariumCobaltNitrog3n great spot... xkcd.com/386/
lol guilty
When Keith flicks you off. @4:45
I can see Keith recovering a lot of items thru due diligence. If not, just kick in their door.
4:45 cheeky middle finger
Keith has a very particular set of skills. He will find you. And he will take his stuff back.
3:50 That's a new Emoji
Admittedly, he does look like uncle Pete.
If it be possible & if any item exists in Royal Society Archives, then kindly consider doing a video related to Sir Jagdish Chandra Bose's demonstrations in the society regarding feeble vibrations in Plants which are similar to Humans, and that on Metals too in same regard. A student of Lord Rayleigh, Sir Bose had invented Crescograph, and was recently named by IEEE as inventor of wireless systems. He was fellow of the Royal Society too.
you should do an episode of J. Bach
KEITH IS THE ONE WHO KNOCKS
He'll make you regret never returning that item. You might just end up going missing yourself...
As an Eclipse Chaser, did he play a role in the search for the presumed planet, Vulcan?
Can you do some videos on female scientists please?
That telegram...
... is, I believe, from Sir Henry Enfield Roscoe FRS, and is dated 2 Jan [18]85. At this date Roscoe was professor of chemistry at Owens College, Manchester, so I am unsure why his telegram was sent from Magdalen College Oxford. Neither can I deduce from the death records who 'Dear Freddy' might be. Roscoe's wife is mentioned: she was Lucy Roscoe, nee Potter, and was Beatrix Potter's paternal aunt.
Great info - very interesting. Cheers!
Cool video! But I wanna know what's up with the blue buttons!!
Invited by the King of Siam to observe the eclipse!
It is the same Schuster from the radon video on Periodicvideos, right?
anyone else thing Keith could rock a power tie?
August 21, 2017. A Solar eclipse will be visible across mainland United States.
Wow. I remember watching the 1979 total eclipse from a great spot in the Columbia River Gorge and thinking I'd never live to see this one. Nice to be wrong. heehee
lzeph not yet....!
I plan to live to see my 88th birthday -- I'm a ways off from that; this upcoming eclipse is closer. (Yeah I know, not a realistic goal, or not one I have control over anyway, but I tend to 'act as if' it's a done deal.)
;-)
Going right over my house in mid Tennessee. I'm thinking of stocking up on dark glasses and selling tickets.
FYI you're NOT getting 'your' four salt spoons back anytime soon. I have pretty good use for them and I was told to "just take the god damn things".
can we have a video on Uncle Pete for comparison?
Hi
I know I'm being really really stupidly nit picky. But just to note Siam isn't "Thailand area now", it IS Thailand, the country was renamed.
+Locut0s that's the upper end of nit picky. :)
Indeed it very much is! But your official reply makes all the stupid nagging nit pickiness worth it, x100! :D I've been a long time fan of ALL of your channels Brady,! You have been an inspiration to me and countless others!
At 0:35 Keith uses the word "jointy" at least the subtitles are written like this. Did he said "jaunty"? And if not, what does "jointy" mean in this context?
Please do a video holding the RUclips silver button!
Seedeng Jawn or all of his 10 silver buttons
Aww man, unfortunately I haven't borrowed anything from the Royal Society. It would have been great to meet Keith :-)
Come visit the Royal Society and meet Keith anyway! :)
Objectivity I definitely want to and hopefully I'll get to do it soon :-)
Keith's hairstyle s rubbing off on Brady.
Almost literally...
wow I'm a nerd I already knew they were friends
Looks just like Sam Rockwell to me
How did they know when and where a solar eclipse was going to happen?
Calculate it like they did for thousands of years before that. An eclipse isn't random.
But the where is what gets me
If it's a solar eclipse, the where is the area occluded by the moon. If you know the when, you can calculate the where geometrically.
For example, if the next eclipse is in X time, you want to go to the part of the Earth that will be facing the Sun at that time. You'll get better results depending on the latitude.
Thanks
18th
What was the 'unique scientific history' of salt spoons? We need to be told!
I bet they were spoons used in noteworthy chemical experiments with salts, that kind of stuff.
Then I'd not want to use them as salt spoons!
