testing the waters ;) please click the thumbs up and leave any questions below for future videos. So far I'm digging the soothing real water sound and feel of this WaterRower!
THANK YOU for talking about the water sound and other differences between this and a magnetic rower! I can’t believe it’s taken hours to find someone who mentions this…
You already talked me into buying a spin bike - guess I gotta get a rower now too! J/k, I’ve already been looking at them and you just put this up. Get outta my mind!
GREAT REVIEW!! And I was looking for a review on THIS SPECIFIC "A1" MODEL!! Thank God your video is so incredibly thorough, detailed AND ACTUALLY REVIEWS the ROWER!! The very few other videos I found were barely even what I would even categorize as a "review", let alone the fact that they hardly even show the friggin' rower! LOL... WELL DONE!! ~~ Carry-on ;-)
Would you be so kind to have more reviews on the rower machines? Similar to what you currently have with the cycling bikes. Thank you for all the reviews and dedication with the product.
You're "jumping" your knees with the handle on your return stroke a little bit. On the return part of your stroke lean your torso forward with your arms straight and don't bend your knees until the handle passes your knees. If you bend your knees too early the handle has to "jump" over your knees and it is less efficient. I recommend Dark Horse Rowing for some great tips on how to row with good form. Also, that display is in a terrible position. I don't know how you're supposed to see your metrics with it positioned there?
Thank you for this video. For me, the extra width for feet placement is key. You showed this clearly which is appreciated. It also looks like the your feet sit slightly lower than the other models of waterrower which is also nice.
I actually went looking for this rowing machine because of house of cards, supposedly it's the exact same one but maybe not. Either way I'm satisfied with it
Love your vids! I got a NordicTrack S22i a couple of weeks ago after watching all of your reviews (Love that spin bike btw - the outdoor rides with the tilting and power adjustment are just like being on the real road!). The timing of this video is great, I just ordered a WaterRower last week to round out my cardio equipment. If you spend slightly more on the Waterower and get the 2-rail version, you can get the ergatta upgrade and save about $500. Ergatta advertises as a gamer focused rowing platform, but I actually think it's closer to TrainerRoad where you are given detailed training plans focused on improving your performance - and there's racing for the competitive folks. Hydrow does a great job of realistic on the water rowing (spin) type classes, but the unit is not as portable as the waterrower and takes up more space when you store it. I think Aviron might have the best software since it combines scenic training, true games and races; but the hardware uses a magnetic / air system similar to a NordicTrack or Echelon rower. Like you, I find the WaterRower to be a gorgeous piece of equipment. I like the concept of increasing water resistance and think I will find the water swooshing sound to be soothing (my WaterRower Oxbridge is scheduled for delivery next monday). I love cycling and spin, but I'm looking forward to the rower since more muscle groups are engaged. It will be nice to alternate between the S22i and the waterrower. You do an excellent job reviewing all of the equipment and I truly appreciate and get tons of value from all your videos. :) PS: Make sure the waterrower hole is plugged to prevent evaporation
Really great review! I’ve been researching this model and found this review incredibly helpful. Good to see it in action, learn more about the specs and see what the monitor can do.
I'm currently mulling between the Hydrow and the Ergatta. I had a Concept 2 awhile ago which was a great rower but a dirty secret of rowing that RUclipsrs tend not to talk about is that rowing can be mind numbingly boring. The alleged beauty of rowers like Ergatta and Hydrow is that they can potentially make an experience like rowing fun and enjoyable.
"... but a dirty secret of rowing that RUclipsrs tend not to talk about is that rowing can be mind numbingly boring." I couldn't agree more! In less than 2 weeks after purchase, I became incredibly bored with the repetitive pulling and letting go of the handle.
In terms of indoor cardio, it's no more repetitive and boring than any other machine you'll spend time on. 45 minutes on a treadmill? Shoot me please. I much prefer the rower.
@@acerdiseI've found all gym work to be incredibly boring. Soul destroyingly so. Problem is when real running, cycling, rowing or swimming becomes unavailable... how to stay fit.. it's a dilemma.
I’d love to see more reviews of Rowers. Also would love to see videos for non-cardio equipment such as adjustable dumbbells, the Total Gym or Weider Ultimate Body works or any home weight training equipment. Also with summer around the corner gear and gadgets and clothing for outdoor running and cycling would be great.
Water rowing is a great option - we have low ceilings in our basement and it has been really nice. I like the sound too! Apple fitness+ has rowing classes which I really enjoy!
I recently bought a solid wood (not particle board) , dual wood rail knockoff for $659. It's wonderful! Everything you said about the vibe and sound is true. I use RowingCoach, a basic metrics app that syncs heart rate with the Apple Watch. $5.00 per YEAR to sync with Apple Health. I wanted a WaterRower, but the wait is at least a couple months. I ordered through Amazon, contacted the third party seller, and picked it up the next day at their CA warehouse. WaterRower not only makes Ergatta, but also the overpriced CityRow Go machines; hence the long queue I figure. I wish them well but I wanted to start rowing. P.S. I had a nice talk with WaterRower customer service and they said the A1 is a little noisier due to the metal monorail. Their dual rail model (and mine) has heat treated plastic strips for the wheels to glide on, which helps keep the noise level down.
Not really maxing out that water level :) Being serious: There are two things you have to be aware when you purchase a WaterRower machine. 1 You have to play around with loosening and tightening bolts for the first couple rides to let the wood settle. I followed the instructions word-by-word, only to be let known my a costumer care guy to just "take it easy." 2 The water needs treating. Missing it by a couple weeks is probably fine (depending how you store your machine), but I have seen some nasty pics online about algae.
Yikes! Alage! Then I've heard about people not cleaning the water and it's fine? Is that possible too? It seems to me all it needs is a touch of bleach and the water will last forever.
@@davidhunternyc1 I have had a WaterRower for 5-7 years I think, I dropped in a tablet that the company sent me once every 6 months and the water is fine. I recently use my last tablet and I'm going to just use your off-she-shelf water purification that hikers use for drinking water.
So it's now November 2023. I was curious to hear your thoughts on this machine since you have been using it for a few years. Since I am leaning toward the purchase of this machine. Have you experienced any mechanical problems?
I used one at a rowing class and loved it. Yet, I am curious about magnetic resistance ones. Off to see if you've covered those too. If not, please do as you've done bikes. You inspired me to the DIY Peloton with Sunny. :)
Do you think I can work this on a carpet? Over my regular carpet, I have a commercial carpet for pets. Do you think I can set it on that or get a mat to place under it to be smoother, less dust collecting and protect the carpet from sweat build up?
IFit has rowing classes on their app so even tho you wouldn't have metrics, you could still follow a class. Is there something like the wahoo cadence monitor for rowing? If so, I wonder if it would even pair with the app.
Hi there! Thanks for this video! Does this A1 version’s seat come off like the regular one or does it stay locked on? I am interested in this feature. Thanks!
I've now just seen this video. I watched your kitchen reno video because I'm in the process myself of fixing up my kitchen. Quick question, do you still currently own the water rower? Wondering if I should get one myself. Seems an ideal type of exercise. Thanks for awesome vids!
It is a gray workout, I guess rowing is like one of the best exercises for you. I don’t have this anymore, I pretty much just ride E bikes for exercise these days.
Focus on extending the arms before you bend your knees. At the moment you're bending the knees too early and having to raise your arms to get over them ;-) Apart from that, great review!
Nobody talks about if the water has to be changed does it grow mold . Do you add chemicals to keep it clean. How often do you have to change the water. It must evaporate a little.
What do you choose between a1 vs club? In my country, the club it's 250$ more. But I think a1 is more comfortable then other water rower, because the wider distance between foot rest. I am correct?
Hoowww. here is something i don´t heare it yet so far and i think my answer to what choose is now done. The the wider distance between foot rest on A1, this make all the diference! Thank you for your advice Mala Cuea!!
Thanks for your review. Excellent. We have one being delivered to us next week. Has it made a positive improvement in your overall fitness and do you have any favourite workouts. Cheers from the UK 👍😇
I was very worried about that too when I saw this video but I since found out that was just the top not being screwed down properly. I've had mine for some time now - directly on hardwood flooring - and have rowed very hard to test this and my A1 doesn't lift like his does in this video, nor at all. The only other possible explanation is his improper form combined with unusual force within that bad form and loose screws.
@@Ayram9 Hi Aryam. Thank You - that's reassuring. I will make sure I periodically tighten up the screws / bolts. It's good to know I can row hard to get my heart rate going. Hope you're enjoying your rowing. Can't wait for my A1 to arrive - it's on a container ship coming from the US to the UK as we speak!
Totally random question, but is that the West Elm Harmony sofa? If so, how long have you had it and how's it holding up? I just ordered a Schwinn IC4 based on your videos, but I'm also in the market for a couch and I think you happen to have one of the models I'm considering haha!

ergatta is not that fun, hydrow is huge and ugly.
…and you can simply pull up lots of rowing scenic videos on RUclips and not pay the outrageous monthly fees for hydrow.

Anyone else notice the dog "calmly" back away at the beginning of the video? :)
Lol, she isn’t too fond of any of these machines :)

Is there any difference with the indo row branded A1 and the a1 direct from waterrower?
It looks like this is the A1 Pro monitor. Did you have to buy that extra, or did it come with the model you ordered? which model of A1 is this?

Can you do any videos on correct rowing form etc?
This rower is almost as smooth as his clarinet playing.

flexes way too much when you use it in the video..
Hmm the machine won't last long due to the machine still moves abit every time you pull it . This will weaken the wood later down the track
