Beginning homebrews today, have leaps and bounds better start than 25yrs ago when I tried my first batch. Glad you can start your Homebrew journey and know the true Joy of this hobby.
I use to brew old school home brew SS pot and 2 plastic 5 gal. Buckets sediment in the bottles was normal sourcing beer bottles was buying store beer for bottles or lock top growlers.
I know it's not the point of the video, but you can definitely make decent beer with a much smaller initial outlay. The point, though, is the fun you get along the way, which includes the learning curve. Spend what you're comfortable with and you can have a great time brewing beer for yourself and your friends.
Just like any hobby, there are premium options. If you were into brewing, your own beer, then I would say yes this is an awesome option for you. If you’d rather buy it by the 24 pack and enjoy it straight out of the pack, there’s nothing wrong with that either.
I agree, not for everyone, but would be fun and enjoyable for someone who can afford it and wants to get into it. Thanks for the video.@AndersonsSmokeShow
Homebrewing is a fun and satisfying process, but agreed, that's not cheap equipment. I'll go to my local breweries now, but man, if someone's interested, I say, try it out.
As someone who owns Spike equipment I can say if you are interested in homebrewing and can afford it I would recommend their products. Not only is it high quality but the customer service is second to none. Great video . Brewing is definitely about getting together with friends and family and creating something that everyone can enjoy.
Great video! Spike didn't include a wort chiller with their beginners kit?!?! I can relate to your brewing guests on how they started out, that's about how I started too till I bought an Anvil Brewing system, makes the brew day easier! Brewing beer and great beer is in all the fine details and processes that you learn to refine over the years. I will tell you water is super important, starting from a blank slate (RO or Distilled water) and adjusting the water salts and acidity per beer style and then reducing oxygenation after fermentation (closed transfer to a keg) greatly improves beer quality and shelf life! Keep the brewing content coming, Cheers!
It’s an add-on but would totally be worth the money! I’m lucky I had the crew with me that day! Funny we talked about water the night before we brewed and I decided to just use our tap water, but I’m sure that perfect water is that last 5% of an already great beer.
As a Commercial Brewer and Backyard Pitmaster, I love this video!

would love to try this! much easier than how I used to brew 20 years ago lol ;-)
Oh this thing is incredible!
Agreed, process is much more streamlined than what I used to do. I relate to the guys when they said they brewed on the stove with a big stockpot.
@@roberthaseltine5977 yup that was me as well ;-)
I'm not a beer drinker for medical reasons, but this was a really fun process to watch. Great work!
Sweet system. Great video.😎👍
Yes, it is! And it was a really, really fun process.

Spike, you go to a mesh style basket and something other than a hose for recirculation and I'm ordering.
Awesome video ! Barbecue, family and beer, definitely covers it! 😆. Fantastic set up. Cheers 🍻
Thanks! 🍻🍻

Very thorough explanation - enjoy your new cooker (and what you brew in it!)!
Well, at 81 years of age, all the steps involved, the time it takes and mostly $2,700 plus tax I can buy a lot of beer.
True. It would be more fun to do it yourself though, just like barbecuing.
Very fair, but just like any hobby there are premium options, and when it comes to homebrew, this is definitely one of them!

I was surprised to see the lid left on during the boil process!
Why? Is that not typically the case?
Fantastic setup! I'm sure you'll enjoy your newfound hobby👍😊
Thanks! It’s a lot of fun, and this setup makes it easy!
