Mike YOU made my day!!! I’m in Los Angeles and wish I could be there at the Amphi Festival 😍 Thank you!!! There’s also WTG Festival every year in Leipzig. It’s HUGE! Worldwide goths go too! I love Blutengel, they just played at Amphi and in Klaffenbach. Goth music varies depending on the band. Thank you again for highlighting this event ❤
Good evening Mike, thanks for sharing this. More of Germany is what I like to see, explore the area and get to know them people and places you see. Thanks again for sharing. Awesome 😎👍📸🖐️
You're so cool! ! Die Krupps and She Past Away are great bands. Wave Gotik Treffen in Leipzig is the largest Goth festival in the world. My favorite German band is Einsturzende Neubauten. My ancestral roots are in Baden-Baden.
I've been watching your videos for about 1.5 years. you have now published a video from Cologne. I have lived here for 14 years and will be moving to the seaside in two days. I like your videos very much
I always enjoy your videos from Germany my dad’s parents came to the states around 1895 an travelled from New York to northeast Ohio eventually bought a farm an stayed here tell your mom I hope she’s doing good she has such a great smile I’ll never go to Germany my self so I am seeing it through you thank you Mike Brian from Northeast Ohio 👍👍👍
Living here I'd say Cologne is a dirty city, but Berlin and Frankfurt too. We pay a lot for taxes for garbage trucks, waste disposal and weekly cleaning. Unfortunately some people think there always is a "lower" person (means poor person who has to take the cleaning job) who makes everything clean again after your mess. But there are also lots of people taking care of their own garbage, taking home bbq and picnic garbage after the family or friends meeting. And we have 4 different garbage bins for recycling (normal stuff, paper, plastic and organic food). We only have to pay for the normal stuff bin (around 100-200€ / year) and the other ones are paid for by the city and government. The grass is always greener on the other side 😅
Thanks GIV for the tour .. .was the Gothic party a success? Lots of unusual people to ti see and talk to. Very interesting to see the Rhine River, the beautiful gothic church...! Again the GIV is taking us to great events, places we would never see on our own... Thanks GIV!
Thanks for sharing. Could you do more of the Cathedral? Would love close ups of the statuary as well as all sides of the building itself. I love the doors built for giants. Thanks for all you do.
I so enjoy your videos while you are home in Germany 🇩🇪 Love the beauty of it and everything you show us! Thank you GIV for always bringing the best content!!
SO HAPPY ❤ to see you in Cologne. My parents met there (dad American soldier). I absolutely love the cathedral. I'm not a Goth person either but it was fun to hang with you. Lol you are right.. Louie would fit right in. I just went to Old World in Huntington Beach yesterday.. thought of you 💓
Back in 1970 when my mom and I visited the relatives in Dusseldorf we went to the grocery store one day. It was in a city setting. My mom took the shopping cart back to the car and left it there. A German woman came up to my mom and was literally hounding her about not taking the cart back to the store. When we were in Frankfurt we went to a nice restaurant and i got a hamburger. I picked it up and started to eat it and the waiter came over to my mom and told her that I couldn't eat it like that and that I had to use a knife and a fork. So that's how neat and "orderly" Germans can be. I know if I have neat-freak and organizing tendencies that it comes form my German side!
Always glad to see you Mike.Love seeing your smiling happy face. Its wonderful and cheers me up.Im loving your content from Germany.I hope your mom is well. What a beautiful lady.
Louis Offer would have fit in perfectly there , and people do smile in there but you have to go in for the music and bands . See the Amphi Festival after movie and you'll see , it is the one of three biggest goth Festivals in the world , and they are in Germany, ive been to that one in 2018 , its an amazing event , just wear black.
Wow . Very nice . I happen to love the Goth look . Now I have lot's of ideas on how to work with what's in my closet . Black is my favorite color . Kisses to you and your Mom. ☺️
I was there in 1982. I went to visit the Deutsche Welle , which was next to Deutschlandfunk building. The cool thing about the Germans is that they always pronounced my name correctly.
To help explain Gothic music, it's music that is electronic-oriented yet is also a direct extension of classical music. (Ironically, many of the classical Gothic songs on RUclips are in German). Here in the US many people are brainwashed to think all classical music is slow and frivolous, but that's not true. All eras of history have displayed various levels of tempo, emotion, usw in their musical products. So, here are some Classical-Gothic titles actually present on RUclips: "Die junge Nonne"; "Der späte Gast", "Der Atlas". The list goes on and on.
I was stationed in the US Army in Bavaria back in 1986/87 and remember there was quite a few Goth "events" happening throughout the year. Same as you, I didn't participate and wasn't "in" to it, but enjoyed the people watching. 👍👍
Hi Mike, Great video, that's alot of locks, it looks like a piece of artwork with all the different colors. You always make me laugh and smile when watching your videos.😊 Hope your Mom is well. Grace from Canada
I remember seeing that gorgeous Koelner Dom Cathedral all lit up from a train on my way from Germany to Amsterdam. It was stunning. The beauty of Germany never leaves me.
The Wave Gothic Treffen in Leipzig is the largest Goth festival in the world with around 20,000 people. It lasts for almost a week with 150 to 200 bands. It's held during the week of Pentecost every year. I was there over the summer. Amphi is the second largest.
Mike .. .what a riot ... I learned to drive on a 73' Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser. The 80's models were beautiful. I also learned that the old car from the Beverly Hillbillies was actually an Oldsmobile!
Any day in Germany is good rain or shine. Danke für alles, was du tust, Mike. Umarmungen an dich und Mama aus Minocqua, Wisconsin. Wusstest du, dass jeder Staat seinen eigenen Tanz hat? Hier oben ist unserer die Polka!
I visited Cologne for about a week in 2017. My hotel was near the cathedral, and the main train station was my go-to place for meals. Brings back memories.
Nice Koln walkabout by Mike of G.I V....interesting phenomenon and by the Rhine River.. of course, you miss the 4711 perfume. Nobody should leave home without it...😂🎉😅
The Koelner Dom is something everyone should see - it is remarkably beautiful. I lived in Ddf for some years - and would occasionally drink Koelsch in Koeln. Aber - ich liebe altbier!
It brings back memories. I went to Amphi Festival 2010 and the band list was partly the same then as it is now. Walked along that lock bridge and saw all the other attractions. ✌
Do something on Kraftwerk. Still around and, I think, played at Disney Hall this year. Gave us the techno sound, and, of course the single "Autobahn" in the 70s. Another would be the Beethovenhaus in Bonn. He had a brother who came to the U.S. and worked on a railroad. Of course, the difference between Protestant north Germany and largely Catholic Bavaria. One has Fasching, the other has Oktoberfest. Go to Bad Krueznach for the waters, where Karl Marx got married and where a certain winemaker by the name of Anheiser (sp?) emigrated (some family is still in the area making wine) where he later met a Mister Busch in the U.S.
Love it when you speak the language. Most people stereotype the accent but it’s beautiful to me. Bless ya heart GIG 🇩🇪
I love Germany ! thanks for showing us different sites.
Germany and its people are so beautiful.
Despite the rain, overcast and dreary is the perfect atmosphere for a Goth concert.
Thank You so much - I left my heart in Bitburg - Thanks for letting me tag along, had a wonderful time - I sure do miss Germany
That church is the most amazing architecture I’ve ever seen. You really are showing how beautiful Germany is! Thank you!
Again, GiV, you show us some of the best of Germany. Thanks! yet again!
Mike YOU made my day!!! I’m in Los Angeles and wish I could be there at the Amphi Festival 😍 Thank you!!! There’s also WTG Festival every year in Leipzig. It’s HUGE! Worldwide goths go too! Wow!! The Church and Statues are Beautiful!!! High Vibrations!!!
Beautiful church and buildings.

Brian from Northeast Ohio 👍👍👍
It took 700 years to build. It sat idle for 200 years. Finally finished in the 1800s. I have been there many times. Just jaw dropping.
These are some of your best Videos the ones done in Deutschland , a lot more culture clean citys and endless festivals , what a awesome place .

And once again you took me away to a place where I will never be able to go. Thoroughly enjoyed. So glad I found the GIV.👍👍

I so enjoy your videos while you are home in Germany 🇩🇪 Love the beauty of it and everything you show us! Thank you GIV for always bringing the best content!!
Honestly I watch all of the videos in Germany, not always ones in the States
@@DavidHernandez-oc1oz - Same here I agree with you. I mainly watch the German ones and skip the US ones.
I have been to that city, and its AWESOME. Germans love their privacy, and its awesome.
Almost everyone looks miserable in this video but the GIV is always a ray of sunshine with his happy smiling face.
SO HAPPY ❤ to see you in Cologne. My parents met there (dad American soldier). I absolutely love the cathedral. I'm not a Goth person either but it was fun to hang with you. Lol you are right.. Louie would fit right in. I just went to Old World in Huntington Beach yesterday.. thought of you 💓
Thank you Sir been there when I was a Kid. Great to see again!
Sehr interessant und viele Grüße aus Köln!
Good show,GIV! Good show! 😊👍❤
Take care Mike. Love any content you put out. Glad for your mom that your there. She seems like awesome lady.❤
It's the perfect weather for the gothic festival, those exotic bats don't like sunshine very much!
It’s amazing how orderly the Germans are. They left their bottles and cans nicely.

That’s crazy, but great! 🇩🇪
Definitely one of the cleanest countries you can visit. It is changing though with the new migrants coming in.
@@DT-123 Und das musstest du unbedingt in die Tastatur kotzen?
Ich kenne zu viele Deutsche, die sich beschissen benehmen!
Always glad to see you Mike.Love seeing your smiling happy face. Its wonderful and cheers me up.Im loving your content from Germany.I hope your mom is well. What a beautiful lady.
I have been to German 3 years ago I love everything about there. From old man in Bangkok Thailand 🇹🇭.
Many Germans try to escape Germany to Thailand nowadays. Germany bracking down!
I love how rain sounds on the unbrella..
😎 Love their clothes. All interesting to see.

GiV.... bringing us content even in the middle of german "High sommer " Danke ;))
Thank you! For visiting my hometown.
Love you German in Venice ❤
Dang, those locks, that's A LOT of added mass to that bridge. I'm assuming the engineers are OK with it. But wow.
Wow . Very nice . I happen to love the Goth look . Now I have lot's of ideas on how to work with what's in my closet . Black is my favorite color . Kisses to you and your Mom. ☺️

Now, I want to visit Germany and see that Awesome building you showed us. That is a cool building.
I was there in 1982. I went to visit the Deutsche Welle , which was next to Deutschlandfunk building.

There are many current sub genres, but the one I like best is the one that blends in opera and metal, such as Tarja Turunen and Therion etc.
I was stationed in the US Army in Bavaria back in 1986/87 and remember there was quite a few Goth "events" happening throughout the year. Same as you, I didn't participate and wasn't "in" to it, but enjoyed the people watching. 👍👍
