That was such a happy 40k ending. Everybody got what they wanted, the dark Eldar get their challenge, the little girl gets to feed her friend delicious dark Eldar souls and the captain escaped with what appears to be his entire named crew compliment. Win, win, win.
Great story….well done!
My thoughts exactly! All the main characters survived and hopefully the little girl or the Eldar get wiped out in their meeting. A win for the Imperium!
That'll teach me for looking at the comments first :/
Sorry, should have added the spoiler tag.

NAMED....lol
I love the rat named Leman
The stuff from late 90s/early 2000s is so awesome. This one is from 2003 i think. Maximum Grimdark minimal Noblebright.
You voicing the kid made it perfectly fitting, feeling off, strange, alien, mocking humanity in a sense. 👌👌
cheers, its always weird to me
This story is an excellent example of why I prefer the old stuff when 40k was simply setting rather than a grimdark version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
If this is an "excellent" example of 40k without the wider Primarch/Space Marine stuff, I'm beyond glad it's no longer like this. Beyond boring. 😴
@@alastor8091I think you make a good point, but I enjoyed it, theres alot of subtly. You can only get so much out of primarks, and space marines stories.
@@forestjohnson7474 I already knew exactly where the story was going when the little girl showed up. I think 40k is at its best when there's at least a smattering of Space Marine mixed in with lesser human forces and xenos. Warp stories are cool, but only when the story is distinctly not a big scary monster and more Event Horizon with the happening.
100% this. One off story that build up 40k universe without boggling it down with unnecessary characters and plots.
As for DE at the end, its wery cool as it makes you understand that there is only war and the laughter of thirsting Gods.
There is something so captivating about the misery of the old 40k stories. The stories of people hopelessly fleeing from the terrors of the warp which they themselves brought aboard is just great.
Gunnar and Russ were definitely space versions of Minsc and Boo.
I do miss the old tales. ❤
Bxut boo is the space version of boo 😂
🅱️ersion
Go for the eyes, Boo!! 😄
I am complete agreement with you! While the first novel I read was Eisenhorn, I did read the old gritty truly grimdark stories & novels. I love the big narratives, but in such a massive universe there is plenty of room for these independent stories especially about the little guy or some small Rogue Trader it doesn't all need to be galaxy shattering plots. Your channel has been so great at bringing these dusty old stories to life so thank you!
I too like the one off stories. Gives the universe more depth.
The one off stories always worked really well for me because they feel like expansions of the little micro-narratives you would find in the "flavor text" in the codices and/or the similar things in the Dark Heresy books. Very cool story, I dig the ending just because it's emphasizing just how mundane this whole story is in the context of the wider setting, like what happens is brutal and horrible and confusing and and and, but at the end of the day, it's just a thing that happens, and the dark eldar showing up speaks to this stories place in the wider lore, but really being it's own stand alone thing as well. But no, it's not essential I guess, just cool flavor.
yes within the world its not even not worthy
Sitting here for this voxcast
As opposed to standing, or perhaps levitating?
by my roots!
Lemonade for the soul
Throne bless you Prince!
Time for some audible chocolate
Yeahhh we gettin chocolate wasted 🤤🫠
Thank You!!
Man, I hope one day I can finish this. I keep turning it on before bed and waking up not remmebering a thing
lol
Im three minutes in and already love it. More chaos please.
I think this is the first time I've lucked into this
1st time w this channel, or wh40k stuff?
Good 'ol lore. Thank you again.
Fantastic. Really enjoyed the story, and have always very much enjoyed how you occasionally leave in a little chuckle or comment or struggled through pronunciation during the read. Thanks for all your work.
“Mellifluous murmurs” had me chuckling…😂
lol
Thank you, Border Prince. Your work is excellent.
I love both you long and short form content.
Just checked in hoping for something and you’ve answered. If I’ve been telepathic I’d best watch out for a black ship
The Emperor must feed.....😌
For the good of his Imperium.
Loved it. Great narration
I liked how the captains love for his lost daughter left his ship in ruin.
And the predatory nature of the dark eldar will lead to her own destruction.
Waiting to listen after game night 😁

I love your intros as Inquisitor AB Prince.
Thought it was a commisar
40k needs more Yorkshire captains.
Lol, it was a rather low brow accebt fora captin
Do people from Yorkshire have low set eyebrows? Im confused. Why do yorkshire citizens have this genetic issue? @@johnanon658
Great work. Love you man keep it up!!
Your videos are as good, in some cases better than the audiobooks I've purchased from Audible.
Wow, thank you!
Absolutely wonderful narration! Thank you for making this for everyone to enjoy.
cheers
LOVE these old one-offs!
cheers
Ya, you just want a ballance. Some big connected stories, and some of these nice little shorts that just show brief moments or short stories that don't need to go long. Everyone can die, the isolated people can meat their doom, no further info is provided, and it doesn't need to be part of something bigger. You can get some stories in this type you can't in the other. And what you and I and most others probably like... is just a nice ballance. Some big connected lore, but also some short atmospheric hitters like these.
agreed
Cool story, nice read. Thanks!
no worries
Loved this. Grim horror at it's best. I love chaos stuff, traitor marines are so much more fun than the fuddy-duddy Imperium.
Heretic!😫 Inquisitor!😵💫
Need an Inquisitor here!
The inquisition would like to know your location.
All the crying about traitors being better is always suspect to me
Thanks for the pemier of a great video
Hell mf yeah! Bout high time we had good ol fashion CHAOS Over the vox waves! Love to listen to the Oldies.. Rock On, Border Prince!.. Rock On!!🤘🎸 🤘
cheers
awaiting transmission
Great short story! Agree with your view about having some differing stand alone stories.
Beauty!
The pet rat is called Leeman 🤣🤣🤣
That's superb
We need more books from BL like pawns of chaos. That banger is still the best ive heard on this channel. Also really enjoyed this one. Couldn't agree more that one shot novella style releases would be greatly appreciated, as i myself am not keen on huge book series amd prefer a concise story arch.
Agreed!! The one off stuff is very good!!
Very much looking forward to the longer up and coming stories!!
Thanks man!!
I'm going through a massive binge of Audible 40k audio books at the moment. Ciaphas Cain, Eisenhorn, Ravenor, Priests of Mars series, Cawl, etc... These youtube stories are a great addition, so thank you.
Sadly there are barely any of the older books. Early 2000s was truely best age.
nice glad it adds to it
agree the golden era
Yes swesome impassioned
Made for true fans by a true fan its been to long
Well read as always.the stand alone short stories are always fun.bit like tales from the unexpected from back in the day.
agree
It was me revving my car. im not sorry and ill do it again, cheers
Lol
I really enjoyed this. Great voices. Thought the ending was great!
cheers

Some one had been watching the movie alien before he start righting it 😂
lol
I liked the ending. Kind a made another story we could see in our imagination.
glad you liked
Always happy to see more ABP
regular uploads now
The critique at the end was standard fare for this type of video.
(a response to another viewer)
I do agree with one of the first few replies that the Eldar did not attack the escape ship but the original freighter.
I think it was this video that you were laughing at the double entendre, classic BP!
i know right thats my whole schtick lol. cheers!
there was this one 40k book about the emperors children called perfection and i thought you should read it please and thank you
Another awesome story and reading. Thanks for all you do!
Thanks for listening
Thanks for the content
cheers
I'm amazed it's 2 liters and not 2 standard holly tera jugs.
lol standardisation
Glorious
Thanks ABP! Good company while tuning skis and snowboards in Los Angeles! My shop also smells of promethium!
lol first time anyone said that. cheers!
Volpone Glory and Outgunned are recent one off novels not connected to a bigger narrative. Both are excellent, with Volpone Glory really bringing back the old school grimdark
ill check em out im behind on recent stuff
Much appreciated
cheers
I liked the story and the reading but I think I need.my dose od "Child od chaos", that one is just perfect.
Keep it up ABP.
it is a classic
Wish there were more long old stories. Likethe BFG novels you read out.
soon
That wax most excellent ❤
thanks
This is what happens when there's no Comissar around.
Loked this is was awesome i like the end but true as you said too . Looooooovvveeee iiiiitttttt!
WAAAAAAAGGGHHH
dakka
Another enjoyable piece. Really like these smaller stories.
How do you keep track of how each character talks? I feel like I'd use the wrong voice for one or change their way of speaking on accident.
practice i think was harder at the start. you read them before and see what they say and do and figure out a good voice to represent that
Thanks!
so sorry i missed this, thank you!
Good stuff mate
cheers
Imagine that trying to save some civvies because they were behind in protection $$$ only for the little girl to be warp tainted.
never trust civilians
Nice one
Thanks for watching
True 40k

I love it when you do your little girl voice, bro. I could listen to you talk like that for me all day.
LOL
@@ABorderPrince Thanks for the replies, hope you're keeping well, and hope raising a kid isn't giving you too much trouble, it's the most rewarding thing on this planet. Cheers for the entertainment, helps a lot of guys unwind.
A comment for the algorithm
26:36 Good to see some things never change no matter what millennia you are in.😏
AB telling a 40k story involving space ships is always worth the price of admission. There are _none_ better at it.
😮👍🏻
Nice. But. Where did the inquisitor come from and where did he go? Had like one small mention 😅
😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 HIS speaking
Every time the girl spoke I pictured mickey mouse with that voice.
Thanks, BP!
How's fatherhood treating you so far?
Top tear
Wish someone would read steve parkers original dearhwatch novel. Got some pretty dark spots in that one
maybe
Prince is a fantastic voice actor. Really brings the characters to life but a young girl who speaks “as blue and clear” as the spring is out of his wheel house Lolol
They don't make them like they use to
Am I the only one who is more disturbed by ABP’s little girl voice than the actual story? 😂
equally disturbing
@@ABorderPrince i disagree. That voice is creepy af 🤣
I love these one-off stories that simply happen and don'thave galaxy-shaping consequences. I can't stand the interconnectedness of the Warhammer cinematic universe. Forcing all the stories to be related to one another has made the vast universe of 40k so incredibly small and shallow. It's basically becoming star wars, where nothing interesting or important happens unless it involves a Skywalker (or one of the other OT characters). Stories like this one are truly lemonade for the soul.
yeah i dont mind the connections its good to me but i miss these one off bits

The reading was good, but I could forgo the personal critique at the end, especially because it sounded so rambly and not well thought through.
ahh fair enough i do this a lot though and it is both rambly and not thought through i just add them on to the end of the reading with my thoughts. i guess i could not do that but i feel like i need to talk about the story or some aspects of them.
@@ABorderPrince You can still add it, but I'd shorten it to a concise and prepared paragraph, so it doesn't clash with the previous narration.
Nah dude, quite a few of us appreciate the princes ramblings@@Frazzledragon
I hope you never get a proper outro. I LOVE the way you end your videos
