There are two types of iPad Air 2's you can by. One is Wi-Fi only, and the other is Wi-Fi + Cellular. The second of the two variations has a SIM card tray

Your Ipad can't use a sim because it is wifi only version

Maisie Cooke There are two versions of iPads, Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi+4G. Yours must be a Wi-Fi version then. There is no way of getting a SIM card on it.

This is my second iPad air too. I buy them refurbished. The first one didn’t have a slot for a Sims card this one does but where do I buy a Sims card it should have come with it because they were different priced according to how much space you head on the Sam’s card but it didn’t
