Jamie st Merat is the drummer that inspires me most currently and I'm glad he at least got an honorable mention
Kollias and Longstreth are my personal 1 and 2, ive talked to John Longstreth a couple times, really cool dude, i stood behind the stage once at an Origin show just to watch him play, THE most impressive technique and speed I've ever witnessed, he was a machine, and after an hour set of playing such extreme music, he was cool to just hang out and talk. i personally would have Sandoval in the top 5.

The issue I have with these lists is that there are way too many amazing bands out there to truly choose a top 10, and even then you will always be missing that one guy from some band with 4 monthly listeners but is one of the bests drummers alive. Theres drummers like Matt Kilner, Leo Luyckx, and Alexander Kubiashvili that have insane talent but aren't very known because the bands they play with are relatively small.
As far as technique with blasts, I'd say fingers and wrists. If you get major muscle groups involved, you lose speed. If you use just fingers and rely on the rebound, then you lose power. Best example of this would be Shannon Lucas, formerly of The Black Dahlia Murder. He's also worth a look
Richard Christy should've been mentioned, and Trey needed to be at least in top 5 imo if not top 3

Longstreth is just fast. I think Kollias has him beat on all around fast because he can do it with multiple techniques.

Same problem most lists have. Just focused on commercial and mainstream bands. Drummers in prog metal these days are obscenely better than any of these guys.

Please tell me how you think Origin is a mainstream band? I've seen some of these bands live 3 or 4 times with some shows only having like 25 ppl. I've seen Nile with Origin and there was like 20 people there. Show was still awesome and ripped my face off. But in no way are some of these bands mainstream. Slipknot is mainstream, and Joey isn't even on the list lol. Corpse and Suffocation are the most popular bands listed on here and have been around for 30 years... Do you consider longevity " commercialized " or " mainstream" ?.
