Oh, I think you are right. The drape totally suggests that it was hung for a long time. You have a good eye! I would have never thought of that (even though I've hung a quilt too long). 🎄❤🌅🌵
It's the only explanation that I could come up with. I had a customer quilt that she had hung on a hanger for a couple of months before bringing it to me. It had similar problems, just not as severe as this top had.
@@suzisaintjames I think it depends on how the quilt is put together. Quilts that are set on-point like this one will hang on the bias when placed on a hanger. I think that causes them to stretch so much.
Loved watching your process. I have just upgraded to an HQ Amara with 12foot frame from a little hoop frame and would love to quilt for others but this sort of thing scares me. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to see how you quilt it. Hope all is well with you and you have a lovely Christmas :-)
Those new borders make this quilt so beautiful. I love the navy blue in it with the green on the outside. Nice job! Can hardly wait to see it quilted
Thanks, Dianne. I think the borders finish off the quilt nicely.
Advantage of hand quilting..... you can push up from the bottom to make a dome and ease the fullness in.
I buy vintage quilts and quilt them. I have no misgivings taking borders off and fixing them. I believe the make would want it beautiful.
Can’t wait to see how you quilt it. Your work is spectacular.
Thank you!
You did a terrific job. I agree 100% with how you did this.
Thank you, Sherrye!
Great video. This much fullness scares me!! Thankfully I haven't come across this yet. Great job!
Thank you for sharing.

@@sunrisequiltstudio, WOW! 😱. I had always heard that hanging from a hanger was safe! Thanks for sharing! 💜🌞🌵

Great job. Loved the border fabric you selected.
Thank you, Evelyn.
I had to do this to a quilt once..take the borders off..it helped tremendously..
It's like a totally different quilt now. I'm so glad I didn't have to do more to it than remove the borders.
That’s exactly what I was thinking. Take the borders off.
Oh I love the grunge, orange and blue. Cant wait also to see you apply your magic. Happy Holidays!
Thank you, Graceann.
Thanks again and wow did it ever have the fullness and you pulled it off nicely, loved the fabrics you chose to work with.
Wow nice save!! Looks beautiful Happy Holidays
Thank you, Deb.

Check out the video "Finishing Touches on the Cats Cradle Quilt". I show the completed quilt at the end of the video.

Thank you, Laurelle. This was an extreme case. Most quilts are in much better shape than this one.
I love this video..
Thank you, Lorena.
A great job fixing it...well done! Was good to hear your thought process too. Thanks for sharing :o)
Thank you!
