Flexible Resin? 3D Printing with Resione F39 Rubber-like Resin
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 4 июл 2024
- Resin 3D printing is a great way to get lots of detail in a model, but the brittle nature of mosts resins means parts don't have a lot of flexibility. Resione offers a flexible material that's designed to have rubber-like properties, so I was excited to try it out! Resione sent me this resin so I could test it out and share my thoughts, so be sure to watch the video to see how well it performed!

I can see this resin being excellent for printing negatives/moulds in which one would cast other things.
I actually thought about doing that in this video, but I ran out of resin. Making a direct print mold pattern would be a cool project, for sure!
I wonder how that would work. The problem I see is that the two printed halves would not match up up well.
@@DisgruntledPigumon You can make the two parts have alignment keys printed into them, just like is added when making multipart silicone molds.
It's more expensive to use this method than the old style of silicon moulding. With traditional methods you only need to print the master copy which takes less time to print and uses lesser resin. Plus you can make bigger moulds with the silicon method
I find it's cheaper to resin print a master, FDM print a "mother mold" that closely hugs the master (around half a centimeter gap between them) into which you pour some RTV silicone.

What an excellent video. I love seeing channels that produce high quality videos even though they're not intended for millions of views. I'm not so interested in fancy editing as I am good lighting, good audio, clear annunciation, and an efficient and organized presentation of the information. Perfect 10 in all categories. I'm looking for a 3D printing flexible resin but I need much faster rebound than any resin I've seen. I may be able to play some tricks with the geometry, but I don't think there's a resin for my application yet.
That's so cool!
It’s so squishy! Perfect for making a stress toy for those difficult days 😂
Andrew Sink , is one of those for Erica? Let me guess which one 😏😉
Almost got hooked into considering this until I saw the fails on the cube and warrior prints. To those who print with resin, you know how frustrating it is to wait long hours or days only to see a part or two on the print object fail especially if it's part of the major structure of what you are printing.
Will explore further until I see a better quality resin.
Looks like it works better with thick, round shapes. Not so much thin shapes.
This is great. I want to make Sofubi so this will work well.
Would’ve nice to see it mixed/added to other basic resins to improve their durability a little. See if it mixes well or not?
Great idea!
@@AndrewSink Did you ended up testing mixing resins? What about mixing a little of this one with watter washable?
Nice I've been looking to get something like this for a while.
Cool, glad I could help!
This would be perfect for model car and plane tires.
Absolutely, for sure!
Yeah I agree on that. I would be interested in printing tires for my rc truck.
Now I'm wondering if these would be ideal for Resin action figures, given that they're pretty hard, but flexible enough to just pop in joints.
Great idea!
Useful application: Stillsuit using tesla valves as a pump system.
Vintage style Soft vynil figures are something i can see myself using this for
Smart!
I think I know the perfect application for this one.
This is probably great for custom riding mounts for GoPros.
Is this resin compatible with any 3d sla printer? Any suggestion on what best buy printer can better suit work with elastic materials? Thank you in advance!
I use it for FPV drove camera mounts and other FPV parts but im not sure if i like the F39 or F69 better at this point
G'day m8......ive only been in the MSLA corner of the internet and practically using my machine for almost 2 months ( a Nova3D, Whale 2 ), i do have 3yrs under my belt printing FDM. You ask what applications that it might be used for🤔. Well i got into 3d printing for parts, bodys and scale items, we use in the Scale Rc Crawling (drive small 4x4s on scale terrain), i can mix like 10% of F39 with a more ABS like resin to give my bodys bounce when rolling down a hill. If its all ABS-like, it would crack an sheer after the first roll. so for me this changes the game, unlike FDM where you have to find the right filament, then make sure there is plenty of stock etc. With resin we can mix an test a lot easier, with 1x 500g bottle of F39 could mix up to 10x bottles with cheaper ABS-like resins to get your perfect mix. cheers for the informative vid ol son from Sunny hot🥵 Downunder🙃
I've been looking at this resin, but I'm quite skeptical about how good it is at retaining dimensional accuracy for mechanical parts mould making. Thanks for this review.
You got it!
@@AndrewSink Any chance you made a short video on a dimensional precision test and how you compensate for inaccuracies? That'd be great. Thanks again!
do you know the acoustical property i look to uses to manufacture coupling part with instead water or oi
i kkep trying to print tires for my car scale modeling and the tires keep falling ,why is that??? I need help!!!!
Do you think this resin would work for sneaker prototypes?
Any data on their M58 or M68 tough resins? Are they tough enough to withstand miniature drop? ( I'm sure F39 would survive, but the detail reproduction is meh here TBH )
Can you ad color 2 it ?
Sure, you could paint it!
Costum Stamps!!!!
Absolutely!
Nice review. Can it be spray painted after curing just like standard resins ?
Hmm, that's a great question. I would assume most paints would flake off when the model stretches or compresses, but there's only one way to find out!
I think it would be cool to print custom gaskets with it. Any way to test that? :)
Great idea!
How’s the feel of the rubber resin? Does it have grip to it? I’m thinking of making game controller stick caps with it but need the grip so the thumbs don’t slide off
worst case scenario, add texture to it, dont make it flat, problem solved...
Hey, I am curious about you being able to use lidar scanning on your iPhone 11. How does that work?
If your iPhone has a front-facing LiDAR sensors, you can use it for 3D scanning!
Wondering how this resin bounces back in cold water, did you test that? I’m interested in using this resin for a part that will be used in the ocean
I didn't test it in cold water, but it's probably a safe assumption that the printed model will be firmer the colder it is.
Could you mix it with a stiffer cheaper resin to reduce the flex of one and the stiffness of the other?
Thus making a tougher resin for less.
That's a great idea! I would assume you could mix them, but I didn't try it with this batch. Might be worth exploring a little further!
I have seen other people do that to make their miniatures durability.
It would like to see strength testing. Saw you squeeze it many times. I want to know how far it stretches before breaking. What about twisting? On a thicker print, would it snap or just continues to deform? How resistant is it to sharp objects?
The SDS for the material is available on the Resione site if you're interested in the modulus, notched Izod, etc.
he never though that is video would be used for a one piece theory.
?
wow I didnt realize it was THAT flexible! Now the real question..... Can you paint these somehow? Or will it always crack and flake you think?
Great question, definitely seems like something to experiment with!
I do think you can paint it with revell enamel paint. I've painted rubber tank tracks and it holds pretty well.
Adidas used a similar resin to make their new shoes that can be fabricated right inside their shops i think
You're correct, but Adidas uses a different process (DLS) for fabrication!
Hi, since it's a head, it's behavior reminds totaly on these semiflexible kids doll heads.
Make a "You" doll with it ;-)
Maybe this is great ro combine production methods?
Print a 'negative' modell as a flexible cast, add release agent and then pour some objects with concrete, plaster, two part epoxy?
Yeah, for sure! A few people asked about printing molds, definitely worth trying!
Will it work on printing batman cowl using flexible resin?
Probably!
Bro this resin can approve spray paint?
Not sure, but it would be worth a shot!
What printer are you using for printing flexible resin.
I believe this was printed on an Elegoo Mars 2 Pro!
Would this be any good for cellphone cases?
It sure would be! Give it a try!
What if you mix this reasin with some other one to give it a lil bit of flexibility
Great idea!
what about tires
Could colour be added to this resin and it still work fine?
It depends on the pigment, but it’s possible!
@@AndrewSink okay, thanks. I was hoping for bright redish-orange type colours, basically the colours that inflatable buoys/fenders commonly come in. Just wondered where I could find advice on where to find the most suitable dyes/pigments and how to mix them right.
Why you did not showed printing settings to see your mistakes?
Honestly, that’s not a bad idea. I’ll keep that in mind for future videos!
Luffy (one piece) awakening?
Lmaoo
yupp...... same here..... 😁😁😁
lol
I think is better if you hollow the design and put a mesh inside instead of leaving only the supports inside I say this by experience.
I'm using it to print rubber stamps with the logo of our business.
That’s awesome! How’s it working so far?
@@AndrewSink They're in use for a couple of months now. So far nothing to complain. Working well. Can't say much about how long they'll last yet.
Nice!
Does this specific resin need to be washed with Acetone/IPA and then UV cured?
Yes, it does.
Just found another use case while searching for the gasket I just lost in my shower...
Perfect!
Be nice if it was not €100 a bottle.
Yeah, the elastomeric resins tend to be expensive!
İ have shor d 80 resin and that was bending like fkn jellybean i dont understand how is this working
İ think hard resin is just a myth, that was funny how hard resin owners search for bendable and bendy owners search hard resin
Doll makers :)
Your gloves look weird. Are you sure you bought nitril one?
